Survivalist group wants to build medieval-style fortress in Idaho

Why don't they build a mountain fortress in the Humbolt forest? Nice hunting and fishing up there. Plus, it'd be a fucking mountain fortress
Look at it in two scenarios:
A. If it's them being paranoid schizophrenics trying to survive against the 'luminatis try'n take 'way ar' freedoms, then of course they are fucked. Every modern government in the first world has aircraft that completely circumvents walls
B. If they're talking about the total collapse of society via say, WW3 or massive revolutions, then chances are the manufacturing and maintenance of aircraft and military equipment that would fell the Citadel with ease would be dropped dramatically. A walled city like this would last well against poorly armed, poorly funded, ect bandits of the wasteland.
Thing is, though, any sort of explosive will wreck the shit out of walls. Even worse if they're going for medieval walls.

No Lava Moat
0/10
No electrified moat

Is it just me or have they completely walled in the schools?
Who wouldn't want a walled city?
Disappointed though, a walled city is not a "Medieval fortress". I was expecting something like a castle or fort, not some gated community for paranoid schizophrenics.
While we're on that:

Reminds me of this:

To be honest with all of you, it is my life's dream to create a castle in the mountains in the theme of the Dwarven ruins found in Skyrim. Everything I do is in the pursuit of this life goal, but if it turns out I complete it and still have enough life to live in it for a few years... Well, why not turn it into an intentional community? :D Fuck ARs though, we're going to have railgun turrets and sawblade launcher rifles and a bunch of other cool stuff I saw on Youtube.
Oh, it will be glorious.

Sounds epic! Can I join the community?
Sounds epic! Can I join the community?
Can you use a wrench? Do you like brass, and/or steam? How about gears that are poking out of the wall for the sole purpose of adding ambient noise?
If so, yes.

Fortress doesn't have any safety measures against wizards, failure is imminent.
not going to work
this isn't entirely true sorry

There are all kinds of star forts. This is the Halifax citadel.

I was raised in Halifax,
fun fact; Citadel Hill in Halifax is where all the homosexuals meet up at night and do dirty things. Truth.

Like, in the Citadel? Or just on the hill. I want to find out for a friend.

See: 2 or 3 transient dying societies that emerged in times of war and collapsed soon after
needs more SAMs, AAA, and ATGMs
I want this to happen for one reason.
So me and my fellow Communists can rally, take it over, and then claim it as our own socialist paradise :v:
It will end up like every other Utopian socialist experiment.

What about Anarcho-Communism?
What about Anarcho-Communism?
When I started this thread, I didn't think it would become an argument about the Third International.
What about Anarcho-Communism?
that's a failure too
that's a failure too

The best known examples of an anarchist communist society, established around the ideas as they exist today, that received worldwide attention and knowledge in the historical canon, are the anarchist territories during the Spanish Revolution and the Free Territory during the Russian Revolution. Through the efforts and influence of the Spanish Anarchists during the Spanish Revolution within the Spanish Civil War, starting in 1936 anarchist communism existed in most of Aragon, parts of the Levante and Andalusia, as well as in the stronghold of Anarchist Catalonia before being brutally crushed by the combined forces of Francoism, Hitler, Mussolini, Spanish Communist Party repression (backed by the USSR) as well as economic and armaments blockades from the capitalist countries and the Spanish Republic itself.[citation needed] The Spanish example, in which high levels of mobilisation and swift improvements to production were implemented by anarchists, is often cited as an example of an anarchist-communist society which saw rapid improvements to both industrial and scientific output.[127] While some exponents of capitalism believe that such a society's productivity and technological progress would stagnate out of lack of monetary incentives.[128]
Seems like it was going awesome imo
Can you use a wrench? Do you like brass, and/or steam? How about gears that are poking out of the wall for the sole purpose of adding ambient noise?

I'm not an engineer, but gears and steam are epic. I'm sure a wrench isn't too difficult to use.
It will end up like every other Utopian socialist experiment.
New Harmony didn't do too bad until it's economy miserably failed
will probably end in a massacre
Seems like it was going awesome imo
Exactly. Two or three dying societies carved out of the chaos of war. Barely a flash in the pan.
Because they were brutally crushed shortly afterwards.

So tell me about all the other wildly successful anarcho-communist governments

An ultra-conservative Erebor.

Make it happen, Glenn Beck.
It does sound pretty cool in concept, apart from the potential gated community thing; even if it doesn't work it could still be used in post-apocalyptic science fiction as a setting for an adventure movie or an RPG. The only thing it needs is an actual badass castle at the centre, which could serve as parliament or city hall.
Also the buildings need to have basements; more buildings in this world need to have basements. In my country I've barely seen ANY house basements in my lifetime, which considering the extremities of our weather is kind of baffling, even if we don't have winters as harsh as Scandinavia.

the fuck do you live?
I live in Illinois and every house has a basement.
