Americans.
Can you seriously stop shitting in every thread with the same posts?
I don't care how much it affects people. It's your democratically chosen government, and you're not paying a lot of taxes, stop complaining.
"democratically chosen" :v:
So if you have a country where literally every single business in that nation is owned by works or the state save one little Mom & Pop Shop, then it cannot possibly be considered socialist one bit?
who cares? that's an unrealistic hypothetical. we are dealing with a capitalist system where most of your goods are provided for by private companies.

1. Experiences a counterargument
2. Immediately says it doesn't matter.
That is not how you debate well.
What's wrong with buying some houses?
In itself, nothing. But when you live in a society where certain classes of people can just go and buy lavish houses for the sake of vanity, and in doing so probably walk by a good amount of people who are homeless or are in danger of losing their homes, then I think that society is sick and should be doing something to help them.

I uh, what? What are you talking about.
Only a bloody Dutchman.
I'm not sure what you mean by that but it sounds nice.
I uh, what? What are you talking about.
If you haven't noticed, you're purposely trolling and flame-baiting Americans by making dumb comments about their taxes when it has little to do with the thread.
"democratically chosen" :v:
The US is as democratic as you the people choose it is, if it's not democratic enough then change that? You have the power, it's a democracy.

every thread about anything about communism or anarchism inevitably devolves into some clown making up dumb hypotheticals and ridiculously specific scenarios. boooooring

What I pay out of my paycheck each week is a lot to me and my family. And it is, whats your point?
If you haven't noticed, you're purposely trolling and flame-baiting Americans by making dumb comments about their taxes when it has little to do with the thread.
I haven't done that in any thread for at least as long as I can remember, so I'm entirely unsure as to why he thinks I do that "in every single thread".
This:
Then let's get done with "capitalism" and "socialism" because they are absolutes.
The US is as democratic as you the people choose it is, if it's not democratic enough then change that? You have the power, it's a democracy.
You haven't been to America have you? It doesn't really work that way my friend.
What I pay out of my paycheck each week is a lot to me and my family. And it is, whats your point?
Perhaps you should check what you get back for it and how much you'd be paying if you didn't get those things through taxes.
You wouldn't be able to pay for it by yourself.
I haven't done that in any thread for at least as long as I can remember, so I'm entirely unsure as to why he thinks I do that "in every single thread".
That's beside the point - you're doing it here and now in this thread.

Emperor Palpatine will be pleased.

Hey buddy I was speaking in general, not specifically at Zuckerberg. My point still stands. Empty houses and homeless people should not exist simultaneously in a healthy society.

I'm not. I honestly think he shouldn't be complaining about his taxes, and I honestly think I don't know that much about economics.
Perhaps you should check what you get back for it and how much you'd be paying if you didn't get those things through taxes.

I am sure I wouldn't, it doesn't mean that money out of my paycheck doesn't affect me. If you look at it through those lenses you could justify any amount of taxes.
I'm not. I honestly think he shouldn't be complaining about his taxes, and I honestly think I don't know that much about economics.
If you don't know much about economics then maybe you shouldn't make dumb generalizations about foreign tax systems
I am sure I wouldn't, it doesn't mean that money out of my paycheck doesn't affect me. If you look at it through those lenses you could justify any amount of taxes.
Yes, I can. If the government would provide me with everything I need I would happily give up all my wages in taxes.
And it's not money out of your paycheck, it's money going into your paycheck through a different route, you benefit from taxes, taxes affect you less than not having taxes would.
Why would I care how much your taxes affect you, if not paying taxes would be so much worse for you?
If you don't know much about economics then maybe you shouldn't make dumb generalizations about foreign tax systems
I know enough to know he would be worse off not paying taxes.
It works on a scale of less than a million people so that obviously means that capitalism is fatally flawed and that communism can be effectively practiced on a global scale.
Even if this worked what does it have to do with proving that capitalism is fatally flawed?
Capitalism can be proven as fatally flawed regardless of other systems working or not.

The empire can't be socialist. It might be heavily authoritarian and totalitarian and seem very state-run in every aspect, but there's a mom'n'pop cantina on Mos Eisley.
every thread about anything about communism or anarchism inevitably devolves into some clown making up dumb hypotheticals and ridiculously specific scenarios. boooooring
Except, we were talking about the definitions of capitalism and socialism which last I checked was nothing but abstract ideas ('hypotheticals') so it didn't "devolve" into this with my post.
Examples of things are part of defining them, if you can't make examples fit your definition and instead just say, "Yeah, well, it doesn't matter" then I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with your definition.
we do that already in capitalism. we work all day to provide a wage so we can survive long enough to work all day the next day.
this guy is the butt of all jokes on fp recently but don't discredit what he says in this thread

For every sensible thing he says, he follows it up with four eccentric things about it.

yea it doesn't matter because it isn't useful.
not only is our system capitalist no matter who's definition you use(except maybe an ancrappers or randian) but even the state owned aspects are something i oppose as an anarchist and communist.
For every sensible thing he says, he follows it up with four eccentric things about it.
i'm an eccentric person.
For every sensible thing he says, he follows it up with four eccentric things about it.
not talking the same as the majority is oh so eccentric. be liberal or conservative, it's alright.
don't think outside of that box.
that we have the ability to adequately feed, house, and provide healthcare to everyone yet do not feels absolutely wrong to me
yeah this is how i feel, i don't really give a shit about 'your money' or private ownership or anything like that, we have the means to ensure every person on earth can live happily and we don't. capitalism encourages greed and selfishness. and that is wrong to me
