My main problem with illegal immigrants is the fact that they're not a member of our nation, and thus, they should not be granted the benefits that our government gives to tax-paying citizens. They then take jobs away from the lower-class, leaving them without a viable source of income, while gaining the benefits of living in our country. If they're legal immigrants, then as far as I'm concerned they're just as American as I am.
That's a valid concern. So let's make all these guys legal. [editline]9th October 2011[/editline]
It's not just the person, it's what they bring with them. Mostly crime.
Because they are poor, because they are unable to receive education or minimum wage. [editline]9th October 2011[/editline] Because they are illegal.
you're full of crap lol. guess which white heterosexual male gets scholarships to study in california? this one baby [editline]8th October 2011[/editline] i also think this is the first good thing jerry brown's done in a while.
I can vouch for the availability of scholarships in California as a White heterosexual male.
i think being a white heterosexual male is like being born with a scholarship
It's cool because college educated workers are very productive members of society and we can use plenty of them. [editline]8th October 2011[/editline] i learned that from tropico
I'd like it if we secured the border. Not for or against illegals. I'm more afraid of the cartels spilling into the border states.
People also do realize that aliens that apply and actually get these kind of scholarships are actually very intelligent seeing as you need the right GPA and recommendations for it? People who can't speak English won't benefit from this, only kids that worked through hell despite their circumstances will.
While I do think the border needs a huge security boost, Mexico also needs to become a country that Mexicans don't want to flee from. Mexico has to become an exponentially safer country where opportunities are available. Only trying to secure the border is like trying to cover the end of a hose with water pouring out and not simply going and turning off the faucet.
The feds go against states that attempt to stem the flow of illegal immigrants and sue them because they are duplicating the federal laws. But they willingly ignore states that pass laws contrary to federal regulations and encourage illegal immigration. It's mind boggling.
Step one: Make illegal immigrants pay taxes. Step two: Roll in the revenue Step three: Education Step four: ??? Step five: Post on Facepunch

I ask because I want to see what my odds are of getting scholarships. I too am a "white heterosexual male" in CA.
Lets put up two walls, so it is twice as hard to get over/under

I really don't know where to stand on the California Dream Act. On one hand, it's nice that education is open to those who are illegal and may have not had a choice in the matter, but California isn't exactly rolling in wealth right now. They're cutting programs as it is and this act isn't going to help the matter.
Curious, what's your income?
my income is just enough to live in a small apartment with another person with medium speed internet and basic cable.
