the gameplay of the last of us really didnt appeal to me all that much really
i rushed through all of the gameplay segments just so i could get to the story/cutscenes because fuck i was entranced by that shit
the story itself was admittedly really generic, but it was pulled off so damn well that it has ascended to being really great, at least in my opinion
I'll be honest it too me 3 tries to get into it. The way they start off the game really turned me off.
Speaking as someone who watched an LP of tLoU rather than playing it, I'd still pay money to see a film version of the game. Not a film in the same universe, but a film of the game.
It just lends itself to it so well.
The only way it would work is if they had Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson star in it and made Troy Baker look like Joel and Ashley Johnson look like Ellie.
Am I the only one who thinks The Last of Us wasn't that great a game?
It felt very limited and restricted, especially compared to the Uncharted games. And while the story telling was good, the story itself wasn't anything too spectacular.
Most of naughty dog's storytelling is hilariously overrated. What they do better than most companies is presentation of that story; if you actually bother to analyze the facets of said stories, they tend to fall apart under any kind of scrutiny, they make up for it with good actors and good setpieces.
I feel like I'm the only one who enjoyed the gameplay :v: It was nice and meaty and dying was pretty brutal. Plus the Infected were pretty darn creepy and rough at points [sp]until you get the flamethrower[/sp]
Ellen Page doesn't look 14.
it's a movie, man. you can make anyone look anything
They could've listened to the hype about the DLC and wrote it about Ish. His story would fit in a 2 hour timeframe much better than Joel and Ellie fucking around inbetween seasons.
I wanna see their lives after the game, like how they [sp]lived with his brother and the town, and I want ellie to figure out joel lied about what happened at the lab[/sp]
I think it's pretty clear [sp]she knows, she just wanted to make sure Joel wanted to live with it[/sp]
this is neat, but i almost feel like the story wouldn't have the same level as emotional connection as the game had with all the characters if it were a movie
I watched a lets play of it online, i enjoyed it and I haven't even played it, it could work as a film
A movie about a game that is partially a movie. I'm not going to argue because it could be really good, but it doesn't seem necessary.
Max Payne would of been easy to adapt to movie.
Hollywood still fucked it up, so I'll wait for a trailer or something to see if it's in good hands.
Wasn't there already a movie called The Road that was exactly like Last Of Us?

The Road is a fantastic movie and an even better book, but the similarities between it and The Last of Us are very few.

Basically the similarities end at a major age difference between the main characters and a kind of post-apocalyptic setting.
I really see games working better as TV series'.
They often tell 13 hour stories and are organised in chapters that could be easily fleshed out into episodes. Video game movies rush a lot of details that are supposed to saunter in slowly. Last Of Us would not work as a film.
I hated the ending to Last Of Us.
There I said it.
Honestly, TLOU would have to be split into three films for it to work successfully, in my opinion. There's no way you can fit all of that detail into two or even three hours.
I hated the ending to Last Of Us.

You aren't alone. A lot of people hated it.
For fucks sake. Uncharted was just as linear as Last of Us. Linear isn't bad.
No, it isn't bad. But the game felt incredibly restricted in what you could do. My biggest gripe was that only certain ledges were able to be climbed on. It felt like the game was holding my hand the whole way through.
I'd like to see one made, but not with Joel and Ellie.
That's how any successful video game movie will work from now on.
You can have EVERYTHING in the universe exist, but main characters just grate between film and game versions.
In fact, I doubt some games will make very good films at all if that rule does apply. Look at Prince of Persia. I quite enjoyed it, but the universe isn't deep enough, and you need the central character.
And so ends the argument I'm having with myself.

I don't think it would.
It's an all knowing tongue-in-cheek list of cliches.

I would've loved to see the movie recreate this scene.
that movie was pretty terrible though (just like the book)
The book was allot better in my opinion.
As long it's not an adaptation of the video game story, this has the potential of being rather good.
Sony has recently been trying to movielize several series, so it's all cool.
If this were to happen and they managed to do it right, I think it could easily be one of my favorite movies.
that movie was pretty terrible though (just like the book)
You obviously don't know how to read.
I suppose they could use a lot of the game content if they were not to make a live action movie.
Or even so, most movies nowadays use a lot of CGI so :v:
I watched a lets play of it online, i enjoyed it and I haven't even played it, it could work as a film
did you watch the lets play all in one sitting? unless it is broken up into multiple parts, i feel it would be somewhat difficult to include the same level of connection to the characters with only 2 hours to work with
at least, that is my opinion
