Thank god for that.
Greenpeace doesn't seem to be acknowledging the recent Arctic front in the US.
The arctic front isn't really a sign of any major change in the global climate. It's still getting warmer.
greenpeace isn't in charge of the educational system.
yeah but the point is
the set of kids that believe in santa doesn't overlap with the set of kids that understand how climate change works
all this does is ruin the first set's day
It would be a different story if Greenpeace put out a release explaining in a way kids could understand that arctic sea ice is receding, and why it's doing that, but instead they go with scare tactics telling kids they're not going to get presents because of something they can't possibly understand without a well-put explanation. It's science communication at it's worst and frankly doesn't help except with getting Greenpeace more publicity which it craves.
i'd rather them be crying than living on a planet that might not sustain them, tbh.
Your family is now dead because global warming, what a shame!
Lying and making people sad isn't an effective way to get me to listen to your cause.
fuck off greenpeace
thats hilariously naive to do
And yet powerful.

the fucking kids don't even know what the hell is global warming is anyway, all they care about is having fun, so greenpeace still fails.
I think it's possible to teach our children about climate change and still have Christmas.
"RECYCLE OR YOU WON'T GET PRESENTS THIS YEAR. RECYCLE DAMMIT!"
fuck off m8

Anyway this whole thing is overblown as fuck. Even though he addresses kids in the video it's obviously not actually aimed at children, that's just sensationalist as fuck. The target audience is clearly adults and that's who it's distributed to, they're just using that context to make a point. What kid will legitimately stumble upon a random ass Greenpeace video that involves Santa, because I guarantee you the odds are just as likely that they'll stumble across any other joke about Santa or how Santa is fake.
(disclaimer: Santa is not fake kids, don't want Facepunch being mad at me)
santa isnt real
And on that night, Ol Saint Nick came down to The Hague, and asked for their Naughty List,
"But Santa!" one man cried, "What about your list? Do you not check it twice?"
"Oh my good man, I check it thrice!"
"But today I must know of the wrong doing of many, and ask who has not be cheerful nor helpful before this night of festivities?"
Santa then cheerfully motioned for the naughty list of The Hague, which he was quickly given,
He read from all angles, and occasionally added a twist,
Ol Saint Nick noticed than from one corner, a familiar name on this list.
"Greenpeace?" Santa asked confused
"But why would a group about saving our Planet, and protecting our elegant creatures be on the naughty list?"
"This must be some joke!" Santa exclaimed with before giving a worrying Ho Ho, thinking the ICC had lost its way.
"No Santa, please you must understand!" cried out a man before he walked up to the Cheerful Man of Snowy Away.
"Green Peace, has done horrid things!" "Forcing people to be in pain on their knees and hands, starving in many places across the land"
"They have starved children in Africa and Asia." "Have fooled a generation of people into allowing their children to die without vaccinations!"
"Please Santa you must understand!" the young man finally said, and looked up at Ol Saint Nick.
"Oh this is not good" Santa said wondering what happened to Green Peace, and its old ways.
He once remembered, back in the old days...
When Green Peace was worried about Nuclear Testing, and destruction of life itself,
But now he wondered, what has come upon themselves?
And on that faithful night, the Ol Cheerful Man came to San Fransico, and witnesses first hand, what he was told by the man at The Hague...
"Boys and girls not getting shots to protect them from several diseases?"
"Fighting against genetically modified crops that would create more food to feed without lend leases?"
"Oh Green Peace, what has happened to you?"
Santa watched as Green Peace attacked Animal Shelters, releasing animals into cold and bitter winter storms.
In horror he watched as countless fall asleep without warmth, without food, and without homes.
"Green Peace, why have you done this all?" he wondered to himself
And looked at his Naughty List, and cried...
Knowing that human progress, and emotions have been all but lost and dried.

Child to his parent "Why won't Santa come this Christmas?"
Parent "Because global warming turned the north pole into a watery hellhole that Russia and America use for shipping commerce"
People are also whining about this great commercial
greenpeace isn't concerned solely with global warming, they are concerned with the ecology of the planet in general.
I'll let you know one thing
Nuclear power plant disasters happen because of extreme neglicence, which is not as extremely easy to achieve as you think
Chernobyl is a perfect example. Not only the plant was horribly built, but every fail-safe was disabled when shit started going south
Just think about this : the Fukushima plant released barely one tenth of the radiation the Chernobyl plant did, and that was because of a natural disaster. And even then, no one died because of radiation exposure, since the fail-safes in place (which were not adequate) helped a lot in mitigating all the damage
And yet powerful.

What can a kid do to reduce global warming?
Ask yourself this: is making children cry an effective way of spreading your message?
It worked in World War 2.
maybe people should be upset that governments and companies are basically destroying the planet.
I'll just leave this here.

I feel sad for the 3 kids who actually somehow reads what Greenpeace says.
THis is seriously the equivalent of sex ed consisting of:
'PRE-MARITAL SEX WILL GIVE YOU HERPES'
-herpes penis- "AIGH EWWWWW" the class cries
'ABSTINENCE IS THE ONLY WAY TO LIVE'
-herpes vagina- "AWWW NOOOOO" they continue to cry out
You want them to give a shit about global warming in a way that will actually help? Educate them properly, with all the information, and let them make their own choice. You're scaring them, thats all. This is unproductive and if it affects their position on global warming at all then all you'll do is turn them into goddamn fanatics who say WiFi harms them and live in tents rallying against Fusion power because "Nuclear is unsafe guys! Look at Chernobyl!"
maybe people should be upset that governments and companies are basically destroying the planet.
mostly only chinese ones though
So is making children cry to further your own agenda.

come on, who's gonna cry over this
[editline]11th December 2013[/editline]
The truth hurts, I suppose.
besides, this
[editline]11th December 2013[/editline]
I dunno but I think if we keep letting the enviroment keep going in the direction it is, eventually santa won't deliver presents because we'll have bigger problems to deal with
So is making children cry to further your own agenda.

Emotional tactics have always been used by environmental organizations because they work so damn well. The reason Love Canal was taken care of was because of the sheer amount of media attention (emotional attention) to what was happening. The same with the whole schweppes recycling incident, pandas, whaling, etc... There is nothing wrong with using making issues emotional because if the political system refuses to address the issues then something needs to be done. There are extremes of course like PETA, which is pushing it too far, but having something about Santa isn't that damaging, but it makes a good point to kids.

Good thing the sea level has literally risen and the ice caps are literally shrinking.

It's seriously been blown out of proportion by people selling snake oil. If you read history then you'd know that Earth has gone through warm and cold periods and this is nothing new.
Also look up the Climategate scandal if you're so comfy in the dark.

That doesn't change the fact that a change happening now is bad for us.

Yes the earth has gone through warm and cold periods before.
The Medieval warm period ended with cooling that resulted in destruction of agricultural lands, caused population decline, weakened the ability of persons to fight off infectious diseases, and ultimately was a massive contributor to the widespread demographic and economic collapses of the 14th and 15th centuries.
If we could actually moderate change in the climate and actually prevent these things from happening, what would be so bad?
Santa won't be coming this year because of Obamacare

See now you just went full retard. You shouldn't be wasting your time worrying about factors that are out of your control. Even worse is the slew of carbon taxes and idiotic legislation to benefit a few by way of sensationalism. This is nothing more than a survival strategy.
don't worry Grandfather Frost will take santa's place
but you'll all have to sing REMOVE KEBAB REMOVE KEBAB REMOVE CHECHEN SLAV STRONK
