Sounds like the teaching staff wanted some iPads.
And? I was using windows 3.1 at that age.
bullshit you were just clicking about and farting around
Without a flash player, most of my sites would be rendered unviewable.
why would you build your site around flash in the first place that's terrible practice [editline]18th September 2011[/editline]
for "weapons" or "drugs" (or any other reason they come up with, they can take anything they want as long as they say it could be dangerous) but they don't need to ask anyone, any staff can stop you and go through all your shit and it's not a breach of anything since you agree to it in the forms you have to sign to go to school and not going to school sends your parents to jail so it's just another example of how texas has freedom in a noose
contact the aclu I bet they'd have something to say about that
My school wont give us ipads or lappys, but we can bring anything of our and use our own code to get on the internet.
iPads are pretty durable by the way. Maybe if you stab the glass with a pen it would break but they're really quite tough. It's not likely a small child could break one unless they spilt something on it.
They still can be scratched really easy though.
One of the districts in my state give middle school students laptops. This is shit compared to that.
I find myself to be more jealous than questioning the practicality of the thing. [editline]18th September 2011[/editline] Or how it'll be useful.
If you're actually stupid enough to spend $200,000 on ipads, why don't they give them to more mature children, in say middle or high school? A kindergartner would probably break the fucking thing within five minutes of receiving it.
middleschoolers would just fill them with porn. And high schools usually have like thousands of students, I have enough students in my highschool to fill a small city I am p sure.
around here the local high school has to ration paper and charge kids money for using the printers.
I thought America had economic crisis but what do I know.
America does have an economic crisis, and it's precisely because of shit like this.
What the fuck, this is such a waste of time. Didn't they have any better stuff to put money into, like actual education, not buying children toys and making a big deal out of it?
why would you build your site around flash in the first place
I should have said "sites I frequent" [editline]19th September 2011[/editline]
bullshit you were just clicking about and farting around
Same can be said about the iPad.
Same can be said about the iPad.
yeah when the ipad was four it just clicked about and farted around on windows 95
Someone is being obtuse today.
Someone is being obtuse today.
yeah except you were the one displaying about as much wit as a monkey throwing shit at another monkey. so uh you can't really call someone else dim-witted.
I bet you could spend that $200,000 on retraining every single Kindergarten teacher in the district.
this is stupid
no fucking shit sherlock
yeah when the ipad was four it just clicked about and farted around on windows 95
Jesus fuck this is a new record for dumb post
The Facepunch community: radical supporters of human augmentations but refuse to recognize possible advantages iPads may have over a good old textbook.
yeah when the ipad was four it just clicked about and farted around on windows 95
dumbest post of the year 2011
The Facepunch community: radical supporters of human augmentations but refuse to recognize possible advantages iPads may have over good old textbook.
It's not so much the fact that they're switching to iPads (with this even being one of the few actual good reasons to have one to begin with), it's the fact that they're starting with kindergarteners. A 5 year old child is more likely to break them than a 15 year old. Not necessarily due to being reckless, they're just clumsier.
They should've given each kid a laptop instead. That's about 3/5 of the price but a million times more useful :\
My school bought iPads. Then they give them to only the freshmen. Keep in mind this is the same school that is unable to buy curtains for the windows.
Seems to me like a huge variety of learning tools could be used via an ipad. They can learn shapes, letters, identify animals and things, and a massive variety of other simple tasks that kindegarteners learn all while the results can be reviewed by the teacher to see weaknesses in particular students. I don't know why you are immediately writing it off.
Because it's not android they can't modify all the system files or whatever! Really though, you're right. There is a metric shit ton of shit on the app store for kids around that age all based around education. Other tablet pc's wouldn't be as streamlined and simple as an iPad would especially for a 4 year old, so whoever it was that suggested that was pretty stupid.
My school bought iPads. Then they give them to only the freshmen. Keep in mind this is the same school that is unable to buy curtains for the windows.
Kind of like when I was in high school, only freshmen didn't have to share lockers, and they got all kinds of free shit.
Just ipads? These kindergarteners need cellphones, cars and luxury condos. Stupid school is holding out on the young these days.
Not for a 4 year old. Wow.
Yes because the full unfiltered web experience on a laptop computer with full plugin support is not comparabable to a proprietery collection of apps on an expensive and limited platform.
Yes because the full unfiltered web experience on a laptop computer with full plugin support is not comparabable to a proprietery collection of apps on an expensive and limited platform.
Aside from Flash support (which I highly doubt a 4 year old needs) do tell what is filtered on an iPad's browser? And the one and only plugin I think a 4 year old would get use out of would be ABP for their own safety, but with an iPad it's not like they're going to get a virus even if they are running around clicking ads. Whereas with a laptop there are COUNTLESS things that could go wrong unless the kid was being supervised 24/7 on it. But hey, them 4 year olds need them plugins.
Extremely stupid, but, lucky bastards
Aside from Flash support (which I highly doubt a 4 year old needs)
Hey 4 year olds watch porn too.
