America has been letting politicans go mad with power and act almost as if we were lawless when we should have collectively gotten together and demand the clean up of washington.
Now we this flawed and easy to be abuse system is in the hands of trump and the GOP. Good job liberals you sure showed them
So there's no defense of the policy anymore. "Yeah, Trump is going to be shit. Maybe if you LIBERALS didn't suck so much I wouldn't HAVE to vote for people to take away your rights. "
This is a blatantly ridiculous position.
Pretty much exactly this. I'm heavily left leaning, but put extensive value on personal liberties and freedom. Bit of a socialist oxymoron in that sense. Bernie isn't a perfect fit for my views, but he's better than damn near any candidate in history.
I didn't vote for Trump because he's categorically fucking insane. I didn't vote for Hillary because she's a corrupt establishment shill. I didn't and don't want things to burn to the ground, but I personally refused to vote for either of these candidates. For my views I have been repeatedly attacked and labeled a racist, a misogynist, a narrow minded republican shill, and every other triggered buzzword under the sun, but practically exclusively by people on the left, specifically because I have refused to 'fall in line' with those who think I have some duty to vote for Hillary.
It's very easy to see why someone who is less informed, or who is inclined to give a fuck about what others think of them, would react negatively to this behavior, and aggressively or violently at that. That is how people like trump gain power. There are always the fringe wingnuts that will support them regardless of circumstance, but they are a tiny minority. Their true power comes from the votes of those disenfranchised by those they would otherwise call their peers.
Exactly, most of this fucking election has been about voting to keep the other guy out and honestly when we bring this up the reactions baffle me. "No it's because X are just Y!" Literally proving the point being made, and quite honestly the only people I consider genuine idiots in this election are the ones who think browbeating everyone will get results. I am a stubborn jackass, I started a big argument by saying I'd vote for Trump if one more Hillary supporter said my vote was wasted/stupid. If forced I genuinely would do exactly that, and I know I'm not at all alone in that sentiment. I didn't of course because I value my principles which was my whole point of that statement (and boy did that bother the shit out of people) but as you say people get disenfranchised and decide to go where it's safe.
Something has gone wrong with the polls somehow. People aren't being truthful in America or Britain.
This terrifies me.
I said this a long time ago but let me explain it briefly to you:
Polls and surveys are more or less useless unless you have a fair, all-encompassing sample with sufficient size with an appropriate method. Cold calling people and asking for "a moment of their time" pisses them off, they don't want to fucking participate in your shit so they will either hang up or act like a dick about it. Then again who's hanging around to get called in the middle of the day? Are those the kind of people who will go out and vote? Clearly not.
I tend to avoid giving too much credit to any poll or survey, not until I know they're not doing something like stacking the numbers with college democrats and going "the Republicans will lose!!!"
That's not good science.
So there's no defense of the policy anymore. "Yeah, Trump is going to be shit. Maybe if you LIBERALS didn't suck so much I wouldn't HAVE to vote for people to take away your rights. "

It lets them achieve the schadenfreude of being "right" about their candidate without having to rationalize living with the negative aspects because you can just offload that to the liberals.
Believe me I get it, I'm disgruntled with the current political machine as well. I am all for removing corruption from our process. I campaigned for Bernie. But electing Trump is NOT the way to fix those problems. It's a lazy, cop out solution and it will end up hurting a lot of people.
The way I see it that would have been the same with Clinton winning.
But i rather have this election won fairly by democratic means than somebody abusing their status and sabotaging their own fellow party members.
I was with bernie too until he told me to vote hillary after everything he said about wall street politicans, corruption and pay to win politics.
Nah sorry. Bernie shouldve grew some balls and went independent or lead a real revolution. Before you guys go that itll split the democrat vote, hillary already did that herself and the democrats lost anyways so why go against everything you said.
Trump ran on dissolving corruption and the political establishment. It's not the worst thing in the world.
how is this possible... do people not realize they are literally being stereotypical villains from a movie?
Trump ran on dissolving corruption and the political establishment. It's not the worst thing in the world.
Okay, but I honestly don't believe it. Can someone give me a reason as to why I should? I'm still not sure it would be worth it as a package with everything else but yeah.
You mean like how Hillary was actively against the 2nd amendment
Unless somehow those guns will assure that I will not be kicked out of my job because I'm gay, will let me marry, will provide me with a medical care that is otherwise impossible to acquire due to high prices, and pay for my education, I'd say that guns, no matter how interesting I may find them, will help me much.
I'm sure this has been said before and I care so little about this election but god damn it feels so good to watch this echo chamber get so upset. The only thing that can top this feeling would be Kanye 2020.
Okay, but I honestly don't believe it. Can someone give me a reason as to why I should? I'm still not sure it would be worth it as a package with everything else but yeah.
He surrounds himself with the corrupt and established.
Oh wait fuck I fucked that up you were looking for reasons to believe.
Fuck my life how am I even going to face tomorrow. I don't want to go to sleep because I'm waking up to this reality. Over 50% of my country voted for government who is against me as a person.
It's not like I wanted to be gay. I wanted the opposite so much. After being pushed down flights of stairs and beaten bloody in high school I just swore off relationships forever. I went through so much therapy and mental bullshit to eventually come out as okay with who I am, to finally get over the immense amount of self-hatred and depression that drove me to multiple suicide attempts in college.
Now just as I start to feel like things might work out and I might be acceptable in our society, fucking this happens. I have to try to find another place to live because I might not have rights here next year. There are people who view me as less than human and the majority agreed to put them in power.
I seriously just want to crawl in a hole and disappear. I wish this didn't affect me but I seriously cannot help being gay and I can't help sympathizing with my LGBT friends who are also scared. Those people who were already unsafe in their communities now fearing for their lives in the face of a legitimized hate group.
What do we even do? Where do we go? I'm not sure what I can afford and that terrifies me. I sympathize with those people who feel like suicide is an answer because honestly I'm seriously considering the same. I don't want to live in this country anymore. Its people are terrifying.
You can start by not repeatedly treating the moderates like pig shit and labeling them sociopaths when they say something you don't like.
Something something treat others the way you wish to be treated.
Okay, I've just read through the entire thread and here's my thoughts.
I've pretty much decided I'm going to be a Social Justice Warrior now. After reading the posts by the people pretty much saying that people being unable to avoid medication they need to live is just 'liberal tears', well that really struck a nerve with me.
You know the people who say "they're both as bad as eachother" when it comes to any argument about any issue that has two supposed "sides"? It's bullshit. One side is always better than the other. The whole "they're both as bad as eachother" line is just an intentional ploy to make people complacent and indifferent to the issues in the world. Fuck being reasonable, there are some things that are actually worth being pissed about.
Trump ran on dissolving corruption and the political establishment. It's not the worst thing in the world.
He also ran on an anti-LGBT platform and genuinely thinks climate change is a hoax. Not all change is good change.I'm frustrated with the establishment as well, but he's going to be working on replacing the establishment with a bunch of highly religious science-denying homophobes. That is not a positive change.
It's like eating too many Oreos and saying "man, I'm sick of the taste of Oreos now, I need to change it up" and instead of dunking it in milk you smear human shit on it because "at least it's different now!"
Plus he won't be able to do shit to stop the establishment. All of Congress is still the establishment. They'll do more to control him than he'd ever do to control them - he's completely played everyone who was anti-establishment.
Nah sorry. Bernie shouldve grew some balls and went independent or lead a real revolution. Before you guys go that itll split the democrat vote, hillary already did that herself and the democrats lost anyways so why go against everything you said.
If Bernie had run independently it would have just been a repeat of the election of 1912. Yes Hillary probably drove away a number of voters but Bernie stamping his feet and raising hell wouldn't have changed a thing. You can say "the democrats lost anyways" but that's purely hindsight.
He surrounds himself with the corrupt and established.
Oh wait fuck I fucked that up you were looking for reasons to believe.
Well, I'll still be waiting. Let's give it an olive branch. If someone can tell me how I can figure out which parts of trumps policy I can actually believe in and which I can't, I'll stop presuming that he's got to do everything I don't want him to do and ignore every issue I do want him to tackle.
Trump ran on dissolving corruption and the political establishment. It's not the worst thing in the world.
Trump ran on a platform for something he has no way of accomplishing the establishment is gonna play trump like a godamned piano.
Trump ran on dissolving corruption and the political establishment. It's not the worst thing in the world.
He literally had the president of Citizens United as his deputy campaign manager. He's not touching corruption.
So there's no defense of the policy anymore. "Yeah, Trump is going to be shit. Maybe if you LIBERALS didn't suck so much I wouldn't HAVE to vote for people to take away your rights. "

Oh boo hoo you supported a criminal and hope everybody would too.
Also i didnt vote trump. Funny how everybody assumes that. Keep on antagonizing other voters. Doing that all year worked so well for you guys.
I mean do you think ignorantly calling everybody against clinton a dumb racist nazi would sway them to your position? Thats what i witnessed all year.
Im really disappointed in america, i thought finally people are going to realize how fucked our system is and get rid of these elites when i saw trump and hillary debate on tv.
But nope instead you guys just either shilled for corrupt criminal or a racist and sexist shitposter.
You all got nobody to blame for yourselves taking part in with any of those two parties, you would think after the government shutdown people will realize that it was time to oust these guys.

Trump speaks about draining the swamp and removing corruption
DNC pretty much found guilty of being anti-bernie sanders forcefully picking Hillary.
Seems like a pretty clear reason why
I don't believe for one second you care about anything else but to push an agenda to use vulnerable people as a shield, as a way to cynically make money and gain power for yourself. When it comes down to it, the left when given enough power get just as scary (if not worse!) as Christians during the Satanic panic days.
Abuse in any guise is wrong. It was how the SJW crap got started (by abusive righties) when they were told to back down, led to the rise of leftist bullies who cry "BIGOT" whenever they don't get their way.
Its the same disgusting behavior. On the right, its ok to beat the fuck outa people cause its to promote "the good faith". On the left its any one who may have a better idea to solves the issues you care about, but because they are not conforming, they get threatened or treated like shit. Which surprise!, generates another round of abuse and trauma.
Maybe if we quit treating people like shit (just for giggles) is maybe the world will cease being shitty?
Lol rant away
I'm LGBT myself but keep ranting about literally nothing of value
AMERICA FUCK YEAH
WOOOOOOOO
TERRORISTS YOUR GAME IS THROUGH, NOW YOU HAVE TO ANSWER TO

Many of us do treat you guys reasonably, but that doesn't matter because the few that don't get cherrypicked as examples of how evil "our side" is and how we're just as bad as the other people.
It's a false equivalency.
It's literally just a bunch of idiot college students that people complain about, that's it. The other guys just elected the president of the united states and we're still considered responsible somehow.
Trump speaks about draining the swamp and removing corruption

Sounds like Hillary doesn't actually care about issues and only wants the position of power to me.
She is the type of person who will say what you want to hear.
I'll let you work it out
Hint: It has something to do with Trump being a serial, pathological liar.
Trump speaks about draining the swamp and removing corruption

How exactly is that a reason to believe? People accuse Hillary of just saying what people want to hear by supporting gay marriage and yet we're supposed to believe that Trump is being 100% honest when he says he'll root out corruption when running against a candidate considered corrupt by his voterbase?
It isn't racism to act like when people from outside of this country comment on stuff that they know nothing about in ways that downplay our very real concerns is not acceptable or okay. They'd say the same stuff to me if I came in barging about how Finland or where the heck ever is "overreacting" if they voted to resign themselves to pure ignorance and demagoguery. I get to hold the same position.
It is racism because you are saying they don't have room to talk. You are restricting the rights of a person regardless of race from speaking. It's just as racist as them not letting you talk on such a matter. An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind.
You can start by not repeatedly treating the moderates like pig shit and labeling them sociopaths when they say something you don't like.

Sure. Being beaten into the fucking ground, face first, and not wanting it happen again is "not being nice enough". Ey man, don't be so rude to those white-robe ghost guys, they're just burning some fire wood. Why you're getting so defensive about it?

Oh no doubt Trump wont be able to do shit. Which is why im laughing at all those people thinking trump supporters were going to go on purge like manhunts if trump lost.
Im just glad clinton lost.
You have to lose fairly to make it worth winning. I wouldnt want my canditate to win with the shit hillary pulled.

I think you're projecting the behavior of others onto me. i said that voting for trump would be akin to taking away rights, as that is an aspect of his platform. i never called you a racist, a sexist, or a xenophobe.
I'm simply saying that this line of logic where people claim that people need to get hurt because democrats got saucy with the smugness this election is nutty from my perspective.
