This is awesome. Think of the potential tourist revenue.
If they're going to build a mountain, they should build some kind of nuclear vault city in the centre and sell rooms to the super rich, to recuperate all the money they're spending.
Overcompensating much?
Haha, make land in the sea? Those crazy Dutch. That'll never work! New Amsterdam? There's no business in North America, you lowland bastards! Sell black people for money? Isn't that illegal?
Why does the Netherlands want to become a winter sport superpower?!

actually if you made it into the worlds biggest apartment block it'd save the the Dutch when it floods
Why does the Netherlands want to become a winter sport superpower?!
Because it's too cold to play football in the winter.
If the Dutch can hold back the sea they can certainly move the Earth
actually if you made it into the worlds biggest apartment block it'd save the the Dutch when it floods
And then we put two of every kind of animal in there, making the world's biggest zoo. And then beat the crap out of 'em.
Why does the Netherlands want to become a winter sport superpower?!
Because it's fucking AWESOME.
It strikes me as interesting such an idea. In some reagards it would be a money waste, but in others it shows promise. As long as the majority of the insides can be used, not just wasted space, then by all means go ahead. This thing is hardly a money waste compared to some projects in the world.
We mainly transported them.
Jeah, man. It was like a free cruise for them.
Jeah, man. It was like a free cruise for them.
A free, mandatory, torture-laden cruise.
The amount of revenue this could pull in would be insane. We're talking about a few billion per year here. Plus the added sport and lifestyle activities. Sounds dumb because it's basically a "make mountain lol" plan, but really, it isn't as dumb as it sounds

They said I were crazy, but I then got myself a pogo-stick and a razing shaver, duct taped them to my balls and jumped! Who''s crazy now??????
Wow, this is taking terraforming to a new level.
7,000ft? They're building a 2.2km mountain. THIS IS FUCKIN' INSANE! It's a sad thing I'll be appx. 48 by the time it finishes. Yeeeh, great... another thing I can't enjoy properly in life. It's like...we're this last "line" generation, y'know? I get this feeling our technology will be taking a massive leap soon - commercial space travel/space colonies/crazy new entertainment possibilities. All within our lifetime but just at the point where we're too old to actually enjoy this shit... I fear I'm destined to be the grumpy old man sitting at the back, watching the young people enjoy their lives and take off into space while I return home to a horribly mundane old-man-life... *Tears of utter disappointment*
Don't worry, medical science is advancing too, by time we're in our 50's we'll have robotic limbs and shit and be able to replace failing organs.
If that's the case... Science! HURRY THE FUCK UP! :tinfoil:
your post bothers me, why?
Most likely because it will be true, unfortunately..

I went to an advance ski class, and the guy teaching it must have been over 50. He was telling us stories of how he tried the Olympic track a few years back, after the Olympics were older. Humans are getting better and better at building stuff, I do not think it would take 48 years...
Humans are getting better and better at building stuff, I do not think it would take 48 years...
I didn't know the guy you were quoting has just been born.
I don't think this is too bad of an idea, think of all the jobs it'll create for European builders/gardeners/landscapers. These are the people who are struggling at the moment to find work outside of Dubai. Though, a whole mountain is probably just a little ambitious. A small fjord would be interesting, though.
Oh hey yeah that's cool guys it's not like we have cancer and aids or anything.

What? Next time will they make a valley so people can go cliff diving?
I didn't know the guy you were quoting has just been born.
Poor reading on my part
It seems like they're wasting a mountain of cash on this project.
