I certainly hope anyone who strongly disagrees with this project doesn't claim to love Dwarf Fortress as well. If that were the case, they would be a fucking liar without any chance of redemption.
Unless, of course, they built their own mountain city ski resort.
You could build a regular city with a nuclear power plant?
We don't do nuclear power plants in the netherlands, and what would be the point of that? The point of this is that we'll have a fucking mountain to do winter sports on.
fuck yes i love my country
Don't worry, medical science is advancing too, by time we're in our 50's we'll have robotic limbs and shit and be able to replace failing organs.
And then we all look like this

Yea, what a useless waste of money, we could be better spend this on the huge debt of America.
Maybe the mountain can hold all the fucks the Dutch don't give.
What chu been smoking netherlands?

I'm pretty sure it'll be much easier and cheaper to just travel to Sweden or Norway for winter sports.
Or maybe Austria.
There'll probably be another 3 recessions before this project is completed, causing it to grind to a complete halt for long periods of time.
Sorry, but my common sense is calling this project fucking stupid, go blow the money on a spacestation on Mars instead, or something less silly yet awesome.
To my country;
I thought we were in an economical crisis?
Make up your mind people.
We're actually not that far from having stuff from DX:HR.
We've already got prosthetic hands that have five moving fingers that can be controlled by the user, which strangely look just kind of like the hands in that picture except light grey instead of black. :v:
I have been following a story in the newspaper about a man here in the Netherlands who has a robotic arm. He got to keep it. The arm doesn't work by normally moving your fingers or whatever, but it monitors your brain waves. It's a bit different, but once you would get used to it, you can do a lot of things with two arms again.
Awesome

People going to Sweden, Norway or Austria doesn't make us money, it only costs us money. This way there would be a snow mountain right here with us, would only take a maximum of 3 hours from every single place in the netherlands (excluding islands and overseas special states).
And giving 6 miljard Euro to Greece (not getting it back) wasn't a waste? :v:

Dude, we traded New York (New Amsterdam) for Suriname, mainly for slavery!

Because they're one of the best Ice-skaters in the world, not to forget fighters. Don't fuck with us.
For some reason they call it billion in English instead of milliard.

Try helping the country's BNP in a more logical way.
A huge mountain isn't logical.
What's with the people shooting this idea down, why aren't we allowed to make great things any more?
[editline]9th September 2011[/editline]
We could use a couple more wonders of the world.

It's architects wanting to do this, not the government. The government is only helping to find land to put the mountain on.

It's seems like you're all just so jelly, sad really.
actually if you made it into the worlds biggest apartment block it'd save the the Dutch when it floods
No need we have floating houses (i'm hoping for a real floating city in the future).
I'm okay with this. Too bad it's going to take so much time to finish.
It's seems like you're all just so jelly, sad really.
Because putting all your eggs in one basket in order to boost the economy is such a great idea

Putting all our eggs in one basket? Okay
If you want to make a wonder of the world, make a fast efficient railway network for the country that.... (The best part)
arrives on time!

At least people can actually afford going by train here.
Railways are a most wonderful thing. Cheap, fast, and I can sleep on them unlike in aircraft. I can also read books and play on my laptop and even walk about to stretch my legs, get a table to sit at and such.
I can buy a ticket to Falkirk for like £5.50 and get there in half an hour.
So this is what the Dutch do when they are bored?
and couldnt this money be spent on you know, that boring helpful shit like curing diseases or feeding the third world
"No, we want a tall pile of dirt for our amusement."
Stupid investment perhaps, but America does that all the time
Someone should build "The Lonely Mountain"

It'd be the coolest hotel ever.
It is pretty neat how we are living in an age where people seriously consider creating an entire mountain. The last people to "make" a "mountain" of sorts were the egyptians, and you could see the tourism revenue from that. Problem with the pyramids though, is you can't skii down them. The tourism revenue for the netherlands is going to skyrocket, I'm sure.
This was on the Dutch news a few weeks ago.
They should jus build those all around the coastal border of their country
That'd have 2 effects, firstly they wouldn't have to worry about sea level changes and secondly the country would look like MORDOR and people wouldn't mess with 'em .
Who's that one asshole Dutch poster who always complains about how Americans waste money and live beyond their means?
