Sadly, they would risk setting off a booby trap. I would like to see what was on that computer, maybe get an insight into what the fuck he was thinking.
That's a lot of evidence being erased then, the only thing they can rely on is confessions. [editline]21st July 2012[/editline] "Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of “The Dark Knight Rises”, I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families." - Christopher Nolan
No, it's a sick revenge fantasy. You would be better off sending flowers to the families or something, if you want to do anything actually constructive.
Right, I understand that. Though since I've spent my entire day, since 4 in the morning, dealing with this horrible horrible shit that my friends went through, and then headed to Gateway to help console people and help them wait for the news on their friends and family members, I think I'm entitled to do something spiteful and unproductive.
Surreal. I go to that exact theater all the time with my dad. I know a few people around there that I haven't been in contact with lately, I really hope none of them were there.

It doesn't exactly contribute to the thread however.
Watching the live news conference, chief of Aurora Police said that he saw on a camera, jars of ammo, tripwires, and what appears to be mortar rounds inside the shooter's apartment on parish street. They also have a shit ton of grief counseling planned....
I'm confused as to how many were hurt and whatnot - here in Norway it said 14 deaths and 36 injuries or something, does that appear correct?

Oh no, but you're angry so you're entitled to do things now that any other person would do and be an asshole for, right.
I'm confused as to how many were hurt and whatnot - here in Norway it said 14 deaths and 36 injuries or something, does that appear correct?
12 dead and 50 something injured so far I believe
they were saying that they are going to try getting into the apartment tomorrow. Im watching CNN at the moment as they are showing the police chief talk.
12 dead and 50 something injured so far I believe
Was really confused as the different sources I have checked have reported different numbers - thanks for clarifying! To stop myself from looking like an absolute ass - really sorry to hear about this happening, hopefully the relatives and friends of the lost will pull through. (I actually forgot how to word this simpler, 4 am and English is not my native language)
71 shot total. 12 dead.

Just know that regardless of your motivation, saying things like that you hope he gets raped in prison only serves to cheapen the seriousness of prison rape and why it's prevalence in American prison culture is a travesty of justice.
Was really confused as the different sources I have checked have reported different numbers - thanks for clarifying!
Right now everyone is still trying to get a clear picture. People were taken to multiple hospitals so everyone's still confused but right now we all have a clearer picture of what happened.
Was really confused as the different sources I have checked have reported different numbers - thanks for clarifying!
As faze said it's 71 injured, 12 killed.
Was really confused as the different sources I have checked have reported different numbers - thanks for clarifying!
I've seen as high as 70 injured. These things are always inaccurate initially.
Well it turns out my friend who went MIA after watching DNR went out drinking afterwards and his phone died. He wasn't at the theater that got shot up but he was in the area. Hell of a time for people to not be able to contact you though, especially after posting on Facebook that you're about to go see The Dark Night.
Glad to hear he's okay.
Why do you guys think this is okay thing to say?
Bit late to reply; but because people are legit stressed out over it? It's insanely easy to act morally superior like this once it's all sunk in but people who just heard the news can understandably be mortified and say something stupid. It's really dumb to think that everyone's first reaction to a mass murdering psycho would be to have a civil discussion about it, there are going to be a ton of angry replies. I mean look at that one girl on Reddit earlier, she just came home from the theater and said she needed a ton of funny kitten pictures and everyone was saying she was a fake because of it. Turns out that was her just coping with the tragedy.
This is beyond fucked up. How does some one suddenly turn into a psychopath out of no where?
One of the only sources I have is the one from Fox and TheBlaze, but since most of you are left-leaning, as I presume, I'm sure you'll agree to read Fox's news column rather than theirs'. It's called the "Un-Gun Ban Treaty of 2012". It gives European and Asian facist-socialist governments full rights to disarm their citizens forcefully. And the meeting for it will happen soon, there are already petitions being signed and derelict Westboro Church types on the streets supporting the atrocity in action (I would imagine). It apparently won't immediately warrant gun control laws in the U.S., but after seeing what 'ol Bush did in Katrina, I would doubt for two seconds our government wouldn't start trying to issue this. (Click)

The most likely regulations to be pushed by the UN treaty are those that have been the favorites of American gun control advocates for years -- registration and licensing, micro-stamping ammunition, and restrictions on the private transfers of guns. Unfortunately, these measures have a long history of failure and primarily just inconvenience and disarm law-abiding gun owners. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/07/18/un-gun-control-treaty-will-reveal-gun-laws-obama-really-supports/#ixzz21Ddjl4Ry
this fox article (unsurprisingly) is the same bullshit as the Forbes article alex jones used to hype people up about this with. all of the articles about the UN small arms treaty quietly mention this is all speculation because the actual details of the bill haven't been revealed to the public yet. ie theres no evidence whatsoever that the UN will magically override the united states constitution and take everyone's guns away. the reality is that the UN's small arms treaty will just be a reactionary measure against recent atrocities committed by abusive governments like syria, and will limit the import/export of weaponry to certain countries, thus making a UN resolution necessary to make sure they can control what countries are armed.
This is beyond fucked up. How does some one suddenly turn into a psychopath out of no where?
That is an interesting quesion. Can insanity just appear in a previously sane person in one day? Can you go to sleep sane and wake up in the morning crazy? Is it possible that he is perfectly sane? Can we face the possibility that some people can do something like this without being crazy? If he 'turned' crazy, what 'turned' him and can we stop it once we identify it? Finally, what would be the evidence either way? Do we even understand brain function enough so that the doctors aren't just taking a guess when you get right down to it?
I just heard that apparently the reason he abandoned the rifle was because it jammed after he changed clips. But apparently he had a combined total of a thousand rounds of ammunition on him and in his car.
um the police chief said they found like mortar shells or something in his house how the fuck do you get mortar shells
you'll be surprised what you can get illegally
um the police chief said they found like mortar shells or something in his house how the fuck do you get mortar shells
Surplus possibly? They'd almost certainly be deactivated, but I can imagine that, with the proper knowledge, you could reactivate them in some form. I honestly don't really know, artillery is not my field of expertise. [editline]20th July 2012[/editline]
you'll be surprised what you can get illegally
Supposedly he said he obtained everything legally.
He may have bought cleaned mortar shells from a military surplus store or something and then researched how to make explosives to place in them.
