The problem is Colorado with that but, no one can justify owning an assault rifle. There are, like you said, no good reasons to own it. I know where I live you have to go to through an extensive background and questionnaire on what and why your buying that firearm.
Australia, you cannot own anything that is semi-auto up. Plus other stupid powerful things.
Do we have a picture of the SSgt yet? Yeah Colorado is very lax on people buying guns, so I'm not that surprised that the gunman managed to get that much firepower in a couple months
Here's the thing about guns: No matter what you do, people will find a way to get them or will use other weapons. The guy could have went in there with a fucking crossbow. While yes, that is a bit ridiculous, there is ALWAYS another choice. He could have set off explosives in there, or ran his car into the building and into the crowd of people. These people who assume less guns = less violence don't have a clue. How is it that Canadians have nearly as many guns as the United States, yet FAR less crime happens? I've never once had to threaten to use my gun, or aimed it at someone else.I believe guns allow me to feel safer in a society that is becoming increasingly violent. Another thing I hate what media is doing: Criminalizing people who aren't social. Basically, the media says you're going to go batshit crazy and go on a rampage if: -You spend most of your time on the internet or playing games. -You go on dating sites or casual sex sites. -You have any kind of fetish. -You have a strong political belief against United States policy. -You are considered "strange" by some. So, I'm shit out of luck. I played Sim City earlier, politically defended gun rights, embraced my breast and ass fetish, AND I organized my sock drawer depending on color. I'm fucked guys. Better start stockpiling ammo...
If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. You'd be AMAZED how few people have heard of that phrase.
If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. You'd be AMAZED how few people have heard of that phrase.
Well, most people think that if we get rid of guns we get rid of the problem. Do you REALLY think criminals give a shit by going through an FFL dealer and legally acquiring arms? Fuck no. I know about 3 people who would be able to get me a REAL automatic AK-47 by the end of the week if I give them about $4000. You can get ANYTHING in this world if you really want it. That's why gun bans are fucking pointless.
Banning guns isn't even meant to stop criminals from having them, that is not the fucking point because it already is illegal for most criminals to have their gun. What it does help with is the occasional nut job who goes crazy and all of a sudden starts shooting. If they don't have easy access to a gun (not already in their house), they are less likely to do it. Of course if they really wanted it they could easily go out and buy one, but those people, people who plan what they're about to do, no laws help against those people, but people losing their mind for example in anger would have to resort to less-lethal means which could save lives.
What's especially tragic in Jessica Redfield's case (not saying any of the others are less tragic) is that just a month ago, she barely escaped being part of another shooting.
I wouldn't say prevent, however stop someone from owning a military grade firearms would have reduced the impact. It makes no sense why someone is allowed to own that shit, it is not even usable for anything but hurting other people (maybe the shotgun for hunting). I hunt myself, I have a 20g Shotgun and a 22' rifle, if I wanted to I could defend myself with this, I do not need a gun that can fire off 30+ rounds, makes no sense why I would need one (zombie invasion? WWIII?). I support owning guns for a purpose, I do not support owning stupid powerful guns.
Gun control wouldn't stop that unless you stop the Black Market, which would be near impossible to stop because it's almost impossible to track.
The problem is Colorado with that but, no one can justify owning an assault rifle. There are, like you said, no good reasons to own it. I know where I live you have to go to through an extensive background and questionnaire on what and why your buying that firearm.
People use AR's and AK's to hunt. The justification for owning one is the second amendment. I am allowed to therefore justified. I'm not a felon so screw all the antigun people. If SHTF one day I want to be prepared. Just because I own assault rifles doesn't mean I'm going to go kill everyone. Also, what states ask you WHY you want to buy it? Some only ask why when you apply to carry concealed.
The justification for owning one is the second amendment.
Plus, they are fun to shoot! :v:
Veronica Moser-Sullivan Described as a "vibrant little girl," Veronica, 6, had just learned to swim and was "excited about life," her great-aunt said. The girl's mother was critically injured at the movie theater, with wounds to the neck and abdomen, said Annie Dalton. "All she is asking about is her daughter." "Her whole life has changed in a flash, for what? She still doesn't know her daughter is gone. Now our priority is to make sure that she survives this," Dalton said of Ashley Moser, 25. Ashley Moser has just gotten into a licensed practical nurse program, Dalton told reporters. "Obviously, with this injury she not going to be able to start school like she planned. It's a dramatic change in everything." Veronica was an only child.
FUCK!!! I have to stop reading this shit.

I know where I live you have to go to through an extensive background and questionnaire on what and why your buying that firearm.
Most people have no good reason to own a car that has 500+ Horsepower on regular roads seeing as they have speed limits. Does that mean we should ban high end sports cars? No. It is stupid. Plus an AR15 isn't an assault rifle and it is called freedom of choice. Just because one whack job kills a bunch of people does not mean we should ban guns. A gun is a gun, it shoots projectiles, it does not matter how big or powerful the bullet is. It will kill you no matter what, .177 cal can kill you and that is a BB. Stupid as it sounds, someone could go up to people and shoot them in the head with a bb gun and kill them. People drink and drive, they get in car accidents and kill themselves or other people. Does that mean we should ban alcohol and cars? I know what happened is bad. But people need to stop having such a knee-jerk reaction and the worst thing is the media is just going to play on it more and more due to the amount of attention. It didn't take more then a day from it going from tragedy to gun-control politics. Pretty pathetic really..
18,000 children died today just because they couldn't get enough nourishment. This piece of shit needs a bullet between the eyes, or one in the spine to paralyze him like he did to the mom of the little girl he killed. Either that or chain him up in a dungeon for the rest of his life and give the families of the victims the opportunity to have their way with him for six hours a day. Feed him fishheads and nasty dishwater to keep him alive.
What because I believe in an eye for an eye I'm going to go slaughter people?
i am not suggesting anything from your archaic hammurabi belief, but you seem to have no moral inhibitions to executing or crippling a person with a gun, i would say that raises a few flags.
Who said I would ever do anything? I guess I'm not allowed to have pure hatred towards anyone and want something possibly irrational due to said anger?

People sometimes wish harsh things due to anger in its purest form.
i am not insinuating either of you are going to do anything, but the frightening detail in which you describe how you want to kill/maim/torture someone in a dungeon strung up by chains and giving them the bare necessary to live is going a little too far. please try to restrain yourself. it makes me cringe to read silly posts like that.
Surprised no one's posted about his first court appearance today for the hearing, it's probably still playing live on most news networks. Holmes has pretty much looked like this the entire time.
calling the victims "a handful of rich white people" (untrue) not even a week after the shooting is extremely disrespectful and assholeish.
Not to mention the fact that I, personally, hate people who do the "people die/get killed every day" argument. What, I'm supposed to say "oh, okay, I guess we should stop making such a big deal out of this particular event, then"? No, it doesn't work that way. Just because tragic things happen often doesn't make the ones we actually hear about any less tragic. If anything, I think it makes them more tragic. The world is fucked up and it's events like this one that open people's eyes to the reality of the situation.
