Recipe for disaster: Ex-EA devs at Microsoft looking to make a fracnshise as popular as HALO

Make a new game and make it sorta simple, introduce the people to a wide story and let them have a good taste of the things you have really 'planned'
Same recipe what Bungie had for Halo 1 and it was a mayor success, the followed up with Halo 2 adding several new additions and keeping the gameplay intact while adding a few good gameplay changes like bigger maps, dual wielding and so on.
Eventually they came to Halo 3 which used actual ideas that the coders and developers had since Halo 1 (Forge and Theater.)
Same thing counted as Gears of War which was actually more of a tech demo for the Xbox 360 but it was such a success they went on to Gears 2 3 and now 4(?) and this was unplanned.
You can't just make a game and labeling it 'This game will be successful lets start working on the second game right after we finished this one.'
Look at Dishonored for example, Arkane studios just had a attempt to this game and were a bit nervous to the sales but then it seems it was a huge success.
Well, I hope it'll be something good.
There is a difference between former EA devs, and corporate EA employee's. A highly experienced game developer is still a game developer. The only thing this proves is you have no fucking clue to what you are talking about.
Actually, yes, I do have a clue. These are ex-EA DEVS, and whether they can still make a good game or not keep in mind Microsoft is involved too. What happened to RAGE? They haven't made anything good since... well...
And they're attempting to build a gigantic franchise when they should just wait until the first game is out and find out whether it would be profitable or if it would just drain away a few million dollars.
What Darth-Veger said.
No developer is bad forever. Look at what we thought of Telltale's The Walking Dead before any gameplay footage was released. (And that game is amazing)

You don't trust Microsoft, the company that oversaw the development and success of the Halo franchise, to be able to build another Halo-esque franchise? How? Why?

Please stop
I think a good game will come out of it, as long as they head in the right direction. It won't be comparable to the halo franchise though, we all know that.
In hopes it becomes the "next halo"? That's stupid of them.
What developer doesn't want their game to become a massively popular IP? That's like a novice author hoping their book becomes the next Harry Potter.

You clearly don't know how super high budget franchises work. If Microsoft aims to make a franchise as big a Halo is, they will do so and it will make millions no matter what you think of it. The only nail in the coffin here is your argument.
With a stock at the second highest peak since the beginning decade, and at one for the higher points since the company launched it's IPO, its another nail in the coffin for microsoft

Didn't ID software/Bethesda make Rage?
Didn't ID software/Bethesda make Rage?
Yes, and overall it wasn't a bad game just a good deal of launch problems due to the new engine. this guy thinks his opinion is fact.
I have to wonder why he keeps bringing up Rage in the first place considering it's so far removed from EA and Microsoft it's like talking about ham sandwiches at a salad bar.

Not to mention he also looks at EA as a mustache twirling, cigar smoking, grey corporation with hell fire coming out the windows.
Yeah EA isn't the best company but no sense just to rag on then senselessly just because they aren't good with customer service.

Well there is no doubt EA has bad business practices just to make more money, but they also command a vast amount of talented professionals in the industry.

Exactly. But people like the OP always look at then as this.

Seriously, it's plain stupid.

Which is funny because this has NOTHING TO DO WITH EA!

Indeed.
On a side note I like this new developing team

Looks neat.
I think this headline was a bit TOO sensational.

Not that Rage. The company.
EDIT: Wait, wrong company. Forgotten which one it was, it was the one that wanted to make a shooter yet MS said no because of HALO 4.

Before you carry on making an arse of yourself, you should probably work that shit out and clarify your point before you go any further.
No, the fact that these are EA devs and the fact that MS is involved (what happened to Rage?) tells me this will be a spectacular fail.
There isn't really much wrong with EA devs per-se. The main problem with EA, the way I see it, is the the publishers and their control of the development process. So EA devs under a Microsoft flag could actually be a good thing.
Sneak Preview: You play as Expert Leader, a Warrior type cyborg who battles the hoards of the alien species The Cult in a area called Circle. Later, a more sinister evil called The Monsoon is introduced, which will make you question everything.
...........I don't really know shit about Halo other than the fact that I personally didn't care for any of them, so I know this is dumb.

You sound like you aren't sure of your own points you argued earlier mate.
What's wrong with EA devs? It's EA's management that nobody likes, not their developers.
Also I can't find the company Rage anyway, so I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that as well.
Unless you can find this company and post a link for us.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rage_Software_Limited
Not anything really noteworthy here to be dead honest. Only thing I can see is the Playstation version of the Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds video game.
Otherwise most of these titles I've never even heard of. Not really something to complain about when there isn't much to this company to grab my attention other then OP's saying of "It was the last time EA and Microsoft did something and it sucked balls, so this is gonna suck balls to amiright?!11".
In my experience, games that tout themselves as the next big X are the ones that are average at best.
