I've always believed that Laden was either dead for a long while or else never actually in existence, but I think it's taking it a bit too far to say he was a CIA plant or US-supported agent.

It's all because of the 'we're the greatest country on the planet and the government is here to help you and they could never do something like this because the founding fathers designed it to not be that way' bullshit we were all fed as children and still are today. My opinion is that they hired Bin Laden to take the blame for blowing up the twin towers so they could have a more 'legit' reason to invade the Middle East for oil. Now everyone is still thinking it's about liberating those countries and protecting the citizens and cities from terrorists, but all it really is is protecting our oil assets in the middle east and the only resistance is the Taliban.

It however was meant to trap Kennedy into a full scale invasion by US forces but he didn't take the call for air support and thus history was made.
