Man, it seemed like so recently that GTA V was released. Though to be fair, it was initially released in 2013, then we got the updated version on Gen 8 consoles in 2014, and THEN we got the PC version in April of last year. Still, it's gonna be a fair coupla years before we see footage of the new game. And I wouldn't mind seeing it done in a "London analogue". Then again, perhaps they could do something based in the Pacific Northwest. After all, we have Liberty City in the North-East, Vice City in the South-East, and San Andreas in the South-West. But for all we know, they could set VI in "Verdeville", Texas.
GTA London 1969 2 please...
It'd be interesting if they did a Southern locale Just shrink Georgia down to a bit bigger than V's world and you got Atlanta, Macon, and Savannah as three distinct areas that bring out all the best and worst the South has to offer, and they all have a single highway connecting them with rural areas in between The terrain would have to be fantasized though, since it would all be flat and forested if based in reality Alternatively they could do the Pacific Northwest, though the social commentary part of the game might be too similar to Los Santos, but with even more yuppies and hippies. At least the terrain would be really diverse with mountains, rainforest, and islands everywhere Also if they tried to recreate Seattle then you can bet that trying to drive fast around the city would be impossible. But the northwest also adds the chance to represent Canada just across its border
Bit of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels? I'd be game for that. Hell, have one of the protagonists be an expy of Harry Brown. Speaking of which, if they do go to London, it would be a crime if they didn't bring Michael Caine in to do some of the voice-acting. Even though he turned 83 two weeks ago, he doesn't seem to be showing any signs of slowing down.
Wait, did they stop with the GTA V DLCs? Also any release year bets? :v: Or at least the trailer release year.
europe is pretty homogeneous and boring
its less homogeneous than american cities what are you talking about, pretty much every country has a different style
How about "Fuck America" Europe everybody? Undiscovered potential? Moscow, Palermo, Berlin, London.
London? Imagine murdering some people and getting 5 stars only to have a bobby chasing you "Oi, oi mate I wanna word wi' you!"
Not gonna lie, Toronto would be super funky, it has a lot of bizarre brutalist architecture. I'd love to see their take on Canadian culture. Though, let's be fair, the writing and world of GTA V was already past the point of 'on the nose' satire wise.

After my horrible experience with the GTA 5 I'm not looking forward to GTA 6 at all. I might care if they weren't so asshats about modding.
I'd love to have something completely fresh, Sleeping Dogs had such a refreshing new locale
Would kill for a Sleeping Dogs 2.
why
I worded it pretty badly, you could make a great sandbox game outside of America but GTA is all about American culture, you take that away you don't get GTA. GTA really wouldn't work in Europe.
Why not the rust belt? They could theme a whole game around the decay of the American dream. Set it in places were the loss of industry through globalization and free trade enabled outsourcing wrecked cities, economies and put thousands of people out of the middle class. Detroit would make the most sense, helps that it's flanked by the Huron and Erie too to keep the whole "crime island" thing going.
wait, whats wrong with tokyo's street structure? too small probably?
I want them to make the new GTA in a small rural town, possibly the heroin driven communities of northern New England or like a medium sized town in Alaska. But no it's probably going to be a Vegas knock off or something - calling it
10 bucks it's gonna be VIce city [editline]29th March 2016[/editline]
But that's just the multiplayer. GTAV was an amazing game with enough stuff in it even without the multiplayer.
The singleplayer sandbox was really lackluster though
I'm a 100% slut for neon 80's retro so I'd love to see Vice City again. But if not that then I think a USSR setting would be interesting and new. Doesn't have to necessarily be Russia either, any of the Soviet republics would be cool.
I just hope R* will look at IV's and V's protagonists and story and think real hard where and what went wrong. I'd rather have another Niko with serious story than any of the V's protagonist by huge margin.
europe is pretty homogeneous and boring
YOu fucking WOT mate
How about a GTA set in Barcelona? Maybe then this place would get redeemed after such awful and shameful display THAT ONE game was for the city.

I hope they lay off re-using old locations for a while.
What if it actually is a "new" game the way the expansions for IV were?
I'm worried that Rockstar is just gonna think that "we made SHITLOADS of money, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING went wrong"
Aahhh yes, who needs subtle sarcasm and irony when you can have world's finest writing similar to this: WOW, THAT GUY IS A BAD GUY, YOU DON'T LIKE HIM, LOOK HOW HE'S BEING AN AWFUL MEAN DICK TO YOU FOR NO REASON AT ALL.
What if it actually is a "new" game the way the expansions for IV were?
R* I believe went on record saying they didn't plan on doing big DLCs like IV's side stories, in favor of smaller stuff like V's dlc packs instead
I'm worried that Rockstar is just gonna think that "we made SHITLOADS of money, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING went wrong"
They always make shitloads of money from GTA and yet they always change things up and improve.
I want Carcer City or somewhere in Hawaii (a stepping stone for international organized crime)
europe is pretty homogeneous and boring
Killer bait man. [editline]29th March 2016[/editline]
Not gonna lie, Toronto would be super funky, it has a lot of bizarre brutalist architecture. I'd love to see their take on Canadian culture. Great city to live in, but would make for a poor GTA game.
With Mafia III coming out I cant say Cold war america, with Mafia 2 I cant say 30s-40s, what else, WW1? Civil war? America is pretty exhausted. Apart from modern Europe, I would also suggest Cold war and Interwar. Communist Rebels, Italian Mafia. You can easily have 3 distinct countries in a map slightly bigger than V. With Sleeping Dogs you can't say Hong Kong is unique. Tokyo is a nice suggestion done by someone here. Istanbul and youll be smuggling refugees instead of drugs, hell yeah. Throw in some naval warfare too, evade Greek patrol boats.
America is faaaaar from exhausted. They haven't done any 70s stuff, they haven't done Las Vegas properly yet and modern Vice City would pretty much be an entirely different thing.
It would be neat if they do smaller map but with more buildings you can go inside to.
GTA needs to be mid 70s and up. [editline]29th March 2016[/editline] Proper london could be really fucking good. or really bad.
