and i've heard the complete opposite its an anecdote either way [editline]31st March 2016[/editline] A state sized scope is completely unreasonable from a development standpoint.
no
no
garbage post. building a game of that scope is not actually feasible. sorry if thats what you want but its a pipedream. if youre gonna bother to reply at least make the attempt.
Who are these "people"? Because pretty much everyone I've hear talk about it say it's great and I thought it's great and all reviewers thought it's great.
Honestly I wouldn't call it a gimmick, but I will admit that I disliked it. I think the three character system can work well if done properly, but I feel that it would have been better to have one well written character instead of three poorly written characters. So long as they do better than they did for GTA V I'd be down for another GTA.
garbage post. building a game of that scope is not actually feasible. sorry if thats what you want but its a pipedream. if youre gonna bother to reply at least make the attempt.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 contains quite a lot of Europe, albeit a bit shrinked down. A scaled down version of an entire state is entirely feasible.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 contains quite a lot of Europe, albeit a bit shrinked down. A scaled down version of an entire state is entirely feasible.
This comparison is completely disingenuous to what kind of gameplay GTA entails. Increasing the world size doesn't make a game better and that should be obvious to everyone by now. It depends on the context of the game, and a new GTA game should only be as big as the quality content that can fill it. GTA V was stretched so thin due to attempting this massive scope that there was barely anything fun to do in the world. Development costs scale exponentially when you start to build worlds of these magnitudes and that ultimately winds up being the downfall of many of these types of games.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 contains quite a lot of Europe, albeit a bit shrinked down. A scaled down version of an entire state is entirely feasible.
Flight Simulator X contains the entire globe. But that doesn't mean that kind of scale should be attempted for a GTA game. I would rather the next game be somewhat smaller than GTA V, because even in a plane it wasn't fun travelling from one end of the map to the other. GTA VC was actually kinda perfect. It was a decent size, the map wasn't a mess unlike GTA III, and it had a good amount of fun side activities - finding the hidden statues, the rampages, RC challenges and other vehicle challenges etc. But then again I'm biased because GTA VC is my most-favourite GTA game of all time.
IMO San Andreas map except maybe a little bigger would be perfect
Euro Truck Simulator 2 contains quite a lot of Europe, albeit a bit shrinked down. A scaled down version of an entire state is entirely feasible.
Euro truck simulator is 90% highways that are made from splines. It doesn't even get close to the amount of detail compared to gta 5.
Vice City is my favorite GTA game ever. So please Rockstar, make me a happy guy.
Vice City Stories is the most underrated GTA ever. It had Empire building, great soundtrack, unique vehicles and features (military fighting style n shit) yet its only for PSP and PS2.
Re-post from another thread, but I think it fits here better: Here's what GTA VI should be: SETTING - VICE CITY, but bigger, more expansive, everglades, hillbillies, crocs, swamps, airboats, and of coarse, Vice City itself. CONTEXT - basically Vice City, but here's the catch - the game's story will be played in two different timelines: in the 80's (80's cars, clothing, tech, music, etc.) and in modern times (modern cars, clothing, tech, music, etc.). When you switch to the different time periods, you see a fast-forward through time as architecture, cars, clothing styles, road-ways, and people change. The game will also feature multiple characters, connected through the times. An example: in the 80's you play as Character A, but in modern times, you play as Character B who is working with a much older Character A. With this set-up, you give fans the best of both worlds: time period (80's) set GTA game and a modern day GTA game, set in one of the most favored GTA locations, but with much much more. I've had this idea in my head for a while now, but haven't expressed it before.
This sounds dope as fuck. I want. Combine this with elements from Scarface: The world is yours and Empire building from VCS and you get the best Miami-type video game in history.
Maybe it's my outrageous patriotism speaking, but I'd love a GTA set in London. There's a lot to take the piss about in London. You could have an awful Boris caricature. You can have Guy Ritchie style cockney gangsters. Fucking Danny Dyer. Insanely super rich foreign investors in the financial district. Corrupt politicians. Awful British binge drinkers on the streets. Everything could cost an arm and a leg. I trust Rockstar to do some proper satire on London without resorting to stupid stereotypes. They're British after all.
man this happens with ever single gta lol "i want the game to come to MY podunk shithole! thatd be swell!"
man this happens with ever single gta lol "i want the game to come to MY podunk shithole! thatd be swell!"
Hey man I'd play a GTA in Atlanta. It's fun and interesting to see stuff represent where you're from.
The part in the article about Tokyo doesn't really rule it out seeing as that happened in the GTA3 days.
man this happens with ever single gta lol "i want the game to come to MY podunk shithole! thatd be swell!"
Well yeah who wouldn't want to play GTA in their hometown, lol the Jersey shore would be kind of neat actually because of diversity. We've got the beach, the constantly busy parkway, ghettos, gated communities. Urban, rural, and suburban areas all pretty close to one another. Most of NJ is pretty flat but up north it gets a little mountainous And of course we've got the heroin epidemic :v: [editline]1st April 2016[/editline] Though I'd like to see them focus a whole lot more on the water. It always plays a big part in GTA games and it always seems lacking. Would love to see VC again
Well yeah who wouldn't want to play GTA in their hometown, lol
i wouldn't and i bet the developers wouldn't either, and i bet every time a sequel comes around and they see this shit they think "jesus christ WHY did we make London, WHY did we give them a single example of the game not being set in the usual places"
First world GTA's have been done do death already. I have a better idea. GTA: Mogadishu Set in the 90's. Complete anarchy, you can buy AK47's in street stalls. No cops, only various factions controlling different parts of town. Instead of a single wanted level there would be several wanted levels representing the different factions like in Saint's Row 2. There would be various factions based on some of the militias that fought in early stages of the Somali civil war, as well as ordinary criminal gangs, pirates and islamists. The game would let you choose which factions to work with and which ones to screw over, similar to Far Cry 2. Story missions could include shooting down a Black Hawk helicopter, holding up a large container ship, raiding militia compounds and various other civil war and piracy shenanigans.
So, not GTA then.
Would still be an open world game based around driving and shooting with switchable third and first person viewpoint with most of the staples of a typical GTA game. The mission-driven storyline, the satirical simulation of real life, the ability to fuck around and do your own thing would all be there. It would be like combining the best bits of the Far Cry series with the best bits of GTA and similar games.
So exactly Far Cry 2.
Yeah, but with less bullshit and a more urban setting, and more fun.
Honestly, I woudn't mind getting something similar to V but better in every aspect where V was lacking which primarily for me was story but lot of stuff could use some revamp. A completely new city would breathe some fresh air into the series as well though I won't mind revisiting Vice City if they are gonna set on that. Though we just had a city with beaches and warm weather so maybe something a tad colder?

Who cares, we know nothing about it or if it's even being worked on. What else is there to talk about? Get over yourself lol.
What you're describing is Mercenaries, which basically was GTA in a war zone.
My heart still aches for mercenaries 3
i hope beamng gets integreated into gta6. for a series named after vehicle related crime, cars dont have too much focus in the game beyond making them look shitty with the underwhelming customization options available.
What you're describing is Mercenaries, which basically was GTA in a war zone.
Yeah, but I would like a warzone GTA that is played from the perspective of a civillian turned criminal/militiaman/pirate, not a mercenary or a soldier.
Revisiting Vice City or even an outright new and fresh spot would suffice, though somehow I get the feeling that R* intend to set the bar even higher with an even bigger gameworld out there. Northwest/Southwest?
Why not Australia, I remember in the old games (not sure in the new ones) how australia or something was filled with commies or was in a war with the US or some shit while listening to the radio.
GTA 6: the Whitey Bulger Mafia i could totally see rockstar doing a boston thing, it seems to be the "in" thing to do. for some reason it feels like lots of games and movies are using the city as a setting recently
Yeah but 3, Vice City, and IV were all about the Mafia and organized crime. I want something more like San Andreas since we no longer have Saints Row filling the spot of "gang story" anymore. They could do Carcer City in the HD universe, since that's a hugely gang-ridden crime-filled city. Of course, that might fuck up plans for a Manhunt reboot if they ever feel the need to do one, since Carcer in Manhunt was essentially hell on Earth covered with cameras and remote-operated gates, while GTA worlds tend to be far more open and they'd have to make Carcer at least livable instead of the hellhole it was in the GTAIII era.
Who are these "people"? Because pretty much everyone I've hear talk about it say it's great and I thought it's great and all reviewers thought it's great.
Personally, I'm glad it was in because that means there's more of a chance you'll like the protagonist, since there are three of them. If you hate Trevor, you might like Franklin, if you hate Franklin, you might like Michael, etc. It's nice because then you have three personalities you can play instead of one that you have to hope relates to you. I was playing GTA3 around an hour ago and I heard some guy go "YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF THE AUSTRALIAN-AMERICAN WAR?" and he talked about it for a bit and Lazlo just went "thanks for the history lesson :suicide:"
