8 wrapped filming in July I think, it'll have to be an off screen death if there's no on screen death in 8, or they'll CGI a death scene in 9. Which I doubt they'd do
I think I'd be happier with the notion that Leia settles down somewhere and is just happy for the rest of her life in space.
she was on an 8 out of 10 cats episode just last week i think

maybe just a lot of well-known people have died this year from many parts of the entertainment industry - so many in fact that they will converge within the hearts of literally millions of people, and the spike is just kind of a lot higher than previous years, and people choose to cope with that by using the human-made construct of time-perception as a device of humor

You can keep digging for ratings all you want but it's not going to go very far in making you seem like you have a good point because you're just coming off as a petulant child
I'm pretty certain not once has "omg 2016 :(((" has ever been used legitimately as a coping mechanism and I'd be willing to bet you are too but you're too busy coming up with these condescending, overly defensive shitposts to accept it. Posting nothing but "2016 is so evillll" every time someone dies is a shitpost, pure and simple
Jesus christ I thought this was fake at first when I saw it on facebook.
I know the 2016 meme is stale and dead but this is only going to get worse as we go through 2017 and 2018.
I demand we find a way to give Mark Hamill immortalility.
she was on an 8 out of 10 cats episode just last week i think
She tweeted a picture around the 9th back stage with two of the panelists from that episode, with the pillow Carr gave her, so it must have been just after the shoot

i won't rule out CGI. they CGI'd in Peter Cushing for the entirety of Rogue One, they just used a body actor. they used the same technique [sp]at the end when the Rebel hands Leia the plans.[/sp]

I'm not a huge fan of the "2016 sucks" posts or ones like them because they happen like... every year, but I think it is a way for people to sort of solidify or establish a potential "end" to bad things like this happening.
Obviously no "end" is gonna come because people are gonna die every year because that's just what people do, but people like to believe that things will get better with the concept of a new year.
That's the only reason I just ignore those posts rather than acknowledging them.
Cushing died in 1994 though. It would probably feel super insensitive for a lot of people to CGI Leia's death a whole 2 years after Fisher's death. Then again she was the kind of person to joke around about death a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if she wrote 'CGI me if I die' into her contract
Aw man, I was so happy to hear she was stable and now this.

"digging for ratings"
do you even know what forum you're posting in right now
and if I come off as a "petulant child", then you're coming of as an edgy teenager who doesn't understand how the world works and attributes everything to a pessimistic world view where everything is just "annoying" or just complaining about petty things that don't affect you, like how people deal with grief (which, btw, is just kind of a dick move)

Also Pascall has a good answer as well. I'll leave it at that, because this is a ridiculous non-discussion in the first place.

Well I was having a good day until I saw this thread.

I imagine they would have finished filming most of Episode 8 though right? I'm sure they can give a reason for her absence in 9 after the even bigger death star 4 blows up the whole universe

i suppose. i personally feel that CGI-ing a dead actor at all is pretty poor in taste/insensitive, but it didn't even strike me while watching Rogue One that it was a dead actor.

oh boy, that could certainly be interesting. if that was the plan all along then it's kinda freaky how the timing turned out.
And it's not going to suddenly stop happening on New Years is HIS point. This is going to be the new normal, a lot of modern stars are aging. Get used to it and stop going "OMG 2016" every time someone else dies, its an annoying meme
So whats the current going rate on "smug superiority dispositions for use in condescending those displaying their own form of grief" these days?
Like dude okay, we get it, you dont like the 2016 thing, no need to be a dick about it.
i suppose. i personally feel that CGI-ing a dead actor at all is pretty poor in taste/insensitive.
I dunno, CGI-ing a dead actor nowadays is atleast much more bearable than it was 15 years ago.
They should have left this death off-screen, this scene made no fucking sense.

lmao I like how you snipped the post for being late and then you saw you got stars for it and had to add it back. Could you be any more of an attention whore?

I don't think they're gonna offscreen death such a major character. And yeah it's too late to rework shit for episode 8 I would think without causing a release date delay, which I imagine they REALLY don't want. Assuming they weren't already killing her character in 8, I'd expect a cgi stand-in death scene at the start of episode 9. Which is gonna be awful for so many reasons.

I snipped it because i was unsure if i should keep it or not since i fucked up an argument yesterday in another thread and made an ass of myself, and went back to make it more civil before reposting, but alright, im an attention whore, got it.
It hurts a lot because i do remember when i watched the DVD special of Star Wars about its history, its actors, when they chose them and how they felt during the movie. Carrie Fisher was a sweet person and i was glad that she remained that way, it really hurts.

I'd say it could be fine. CGI faces can look good. Just look at CGI Jeff Bridges in "TRON: Legacy". Rogue One made some fatal mistakes which hinged mostly on the animation itself, so if they really put their all into making a CGI Carrie, I think they could pull it off.
