It really sucks that this came out of nowhere and now she's just dead. Seriously, don't fuck around with drugs.
I wonder what they're going to do now for episode 8. I imagine unless they use a stand in, they're going to have to throw out big sections of the script.
Well 8 is already shot, I imagine they will still use the parts already filmed. The fans would love to see the princess one last time so in my opinion they're better off leaving her in as much as possible at least for this episode
Woman with a notorious history of substance abuse*
You're gonna tell me Harrison Ford never did drugs? He never drank? He was an extremely popular Hollywood actor in the 80s. Of course he got high as fuck and probably continued to do so for a while afterwards.

If he did, it clearly wasnt as big a problem as with Fisher, and biological makeup comes into play (Ozzy for exampled is practically powered by coke).
Also he's survived multiple plane crashes, im pretty sure he's immortal.

pretty sure Harrison Ford wasn't addicted to cocaine and prescription medication
also I don't think Harrison Ford has overdosed like Carrie Fisher once did
I know, but saying "Oh fuck, Oh fuck, Why? What? Oh my god." (people have actually said this in this thread) Like her health complications came out of nowhere. People are treating this like the Dalai Lama was just murdered.
The shock and surprise to her having health complications makes me wonder if those people even know who she actually was.
I'll never understand why people like you feel the need to police other people's grief, even if it's only a minor part of their life. "Oh fuck, Oh fuck, Why? What? Oh my god." is an exaggeration sure, but it doesn't hurt anybody and they're of course going to move on with their lives since they didn't know Carrie Fisher personally. Just let them have their moment and move along, sheesh.

That's ironic because you're the only one policing people here. I was just wondering why people think it's surprising she had health issues, like a few others have mentioned previously in the thread.
Still, it's horrible. Rest in peace.

Wasn't there a shot in Empire Strikes back where Carrie fisher is in a scene with Ford, and she got a smear of cocaine on his vest?
What horrible news....
Sad :(
If they have to CGI her into the next episode, I hope they do a better job than with Tarkin. He was quite poorly animated.
I feel like this is just the beginning of the great die off of old movie stars.
I didn't even grow up with Star Wars but the movies had a pretty profound impact on me when I did finally see them that this hits me pretty hard. Especially knowing her words on mental illness and substance abuse.
I didn't see them until about 4 years ago, I was very late into the scene. But the impact they've had on me and the inspiration they've served is indescribable.
I saw the original Star Wars trilogy for the first time with my family a few days ago, on Christmas. It seemed like a nice occasion to.
I don't know what to say.
Drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra
RIP Carrie

Well, immortality, that's different. Still, predicting anybody past 70 is going to die soon doesn't exactly seem like a ridiculous one in a million chance scenario. If he'd predicted like Adam Driver or something that'd be truly spooky.
I'm really upset about this one. No death in 2016 has impacted me as much as Bowie's did, but this one is definitely close. When people were saying she was in a stable condition, I was hopeful she would survive and then post something witty in her hilarious emoji language to calm everyone's nerves.
Missing her already.
As opposed to the first world countries where women die at 60 from heart attacks.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
She looked like my aunt who was the same age and died of cancer in March. I seriously did not expect this. I still can't believe Alan Rickman is also gone. She is with R2-D2 now.
Damn, predicting a 74 year old man will die soon - what a risky bet
Considering Harrison leads a pretty healthy and active life I highly doubt He'll die this year or even next year. Fisher admitted to self medicating with cocaine, and while it's unfortunate Carrie is gone I'm not particularly surprised her drug abuse caught up to her.

This was my breaking point. Celebs die, but people like Robin Williams and Carrie Fisher were gargantuan icons. Heroes to people of the young and old everywhere. It's gonna be sad to see her gone, but know that left behind a tremendous legacy from her career to the people she met and the people she inspired. She may be the crazy girlfriend of Jake Blues from "Blues Brothers", but to many (including me) she was Princess Leia.
Well then
I wasn't expecting this on my birthday
I thought they said she was in stable condition
Stable=/=good.
And just because someone is in stable condition doesn't mean it can't suddenly worsen.
I thought they said she was in stable condition
Stable can still mean very near death. She was on a ventilator, most of the time once you get put on a ventilator you never recover.
This one hits pretty hard since Star Wars has been a big part of my life for nearly 24 years now. Can't say it was unexpected though, I had that feeling she wasn't going to pull through after that heart attack.
I'm surprised that Harrison Ford managed to outlast Carrie by about 14 years, but I guess substance abuse can take that much of a toll on you.
Wow. This isn't the kind of news I expected to wake up to.
I never understood the faux importance people place on minor celebrities; and act like the world is over when they die (as if they have religiously followed them for their entire life).
Anyways, rest in peace Ms. Fisher, don't do drugs kids.
i think for most of us, the people in the star wars ot were like idols of childhood. everything that was good and bad, they seemed to reflect. so, naturally, seeing a part of that go tends to hit harder than expected, it's almost like losing a friend.
