I knew the XBox was good, but I didn't know it could save lives (or at least, a component of it). XBox's are awesome.
2:57 Haha, lots of red rings.
Xbox stole $600 from me after I got the red ring of death and they said that it wasn't covered by warranty :C
Jack Thompson probably died inside when he saw this.
Morons.
I wonder if PS3 Fanboys will accept a cure, Xbox 360 figured out.
What a brilliant excuse to get an xbox.
Great, now take it a step further and use "real" GPUs for the calculations.
That is extremely retarded... Why the Xbox? Just buy a fucking CPU on the side, what the fuck. A more powerful CPU can easily cost less than the Xbox. The person that discovered this must have no understanding of computers nor hardware.
Are you fucking retarded?

Well, the PS3 doesn't exactly break as much as the Xbox does, so the ball is in your court, and so is the PS3's bat after it threw it at the Xbox, which inturn fell over, and died, he was then taken off to the Heart Centre and saved 10 lives.
Then the PS3 looks it the world with a :smug: and then walks back off to toss off to itself in the mirror. Then his little brother, the PS3 Slim walks in and runs out crying because he's only young.
As you can see, I've had a boring day.
It's part of the manufacturing process, Note the USB connections on the front.
This is when the core dashboard software is loaded and suchlike.
Sorry :v:
Though technically they are stil red rings visually, it's not for the same reason.
I must say, Microsoft have achieved something.
Xbox 360 sucks. PS3 cures cancer.
Oh yeah and I don't even have a PS3. I have an Xbox 360. It RRoD just after I listed it on ebay. I now have a permanent hate towards Xbox 360 and a new order for a PS3.
Xbox 360 sucks. PS3 cures cancer.
It's true, I don't have cancer anymore after buying the PS3.
2:57 Haha, lots of red rings.
4 RROD = AV cable not detected.
edit: But let's rate everyone in the thread dumb anyways. That makes perfect sense.
that the Xbox chip
I wasn't aware there was only a single chip on the Xbox's entire motherboard.
PS3 has been doing this for years.
What's with the USB door on one of the Xboxs at the start? its different.
My pot has me covered on that..
oh wait wait i got a better one, CHIPS are now both the cause and cure of heart diseases!
You get it?! :v:

Why not use a Wii?
With everyone saying that they should use "real" gpu's, I am wondering if the graphics card is not the case. I mean obviously we have had Folding@home for years and Nvidia with its push on GPGPU concept for a while, so I wonder if it is the fact that the Xbox 360 uses a PowerPC architecture core versus the standard x86-64 for home computers and the PS3's cell broadband engine.
Hell, for all we know it could be a marketing scheme by Microsoft, I certainly would not put it past them.
Holy crap, fanboys are entering this thread. We can't even focus on the news for a page.
When I read this title, I was thinking to myself, "Wait, they're using the chip and implanting them in people!? Crazy."
Isn't this just GPU Acceleration? For example the same as using CUDA/Stream or DirectCompute?
If so, this is a rather late discovery by the researcher...
Pretty much this. Plus the PC GPUs with the capability to do this are far, far better at this than the Xbox GPU.

Hey, some dude managed to get an 8800 to help with predicting breast cancer ages ago, it's just the researcher is crap, and Xboxes appeal to more people anyway.
they better not get the red rings of death
