I think you're a bit off here.
Did I misinterpret what he was saying? I thought he was stating his opinion on gay "pride" because he feels like he had to fight through mistreatment at the hands of "conservative Christians".
Unlike gay pride, straight pride is stupid. Coming from a straight person.
I think both are equally stupid.
Being proud of preference is stupid. I'm not proud I like apple pie over cherry pie. That would be silly. What I prefer really only matters to me.
Being proud of preference is stupid. I'm not proud I like apple pie over cherry pie. That would be silly. What I prefer really only matters to me.
its disgusting that you imply that sexuality is a preference
did you choose to be straight
I think both are equally stupid.
I see gay pride as activism for equal rights. The pride itself is derived from being brave and standing up against persecution, fighting for equality. Straight pride on the other hand is merely a reactionary movement against the gay pride movement to attempt to discredit it or twist it's meaning. For instance, if the gay rights movement never happened, straight pride would have never became a thing either. When society accepts the LGBT community as it does to straight people, that is when we may question the relevance of gay pride.
I think both are equally stupid.
why?
preference doesn't imply choice, it implies that you prefer something
i dont choose to prefer vanilla icecream over chocolate, i was just born that way
yeah you're right i misread
should probably get some sleep
why?
I never saw pride of your sexual orientation as a sensible thing, and I think it's stupid.
I never saw pride of your sexual orientation as a sensible thing, and I think it's stupid.
You're misunderstanding the use of the word "pride" here.
Yeah, seriously. It's pride, as in opposition to shame. Not pride as in gloating.
Neither is anything to be proud of, in any sense of the word. Just shut the fuck up about what sexuality you have. No one should want to know.
I felt the need to unleash a lot of sarcasm, sorry in advance.
I think it's a trend. A cry for attention. From your government, a distraction. For $.
Yeah, just like black civil rights. Get over the fad already, America!
I have previously stated how I feel about marriage in this post: MARRIAGE I have also created an event: Heterosexual Parade Gay Mafia?
can I join the gay mafia pls
Maybe animals should be allowed to get married? Would they govern and tax them too? While they're at it, how about equal rights for insects?
LGBT people aren't human. classy
In my opinion, there is a difference between a man and a woman. If you can't appreciate those differences, you can't enjoy those differences.
I'm pretty sure gay people both enjoy and appreciate the difference between men and women.
I don't agree with boys turning into girls, and I don't agree with girls turning into boys.
Well, good thing that literally doesn't happen.
The word/meaning of "Pride" doesn't belong to the gay/lgbt community, it belongs to everyone. That includes us good old fashioned straight people.
:goodjob: Now you can have more straight pride to go along with your last 5000 years of straight pride.
The way I see it, in my opinion, some boys never turn into men, and some girls never turn into women.
Ok, sure, if they don't live through puberty.
What a shitshow. "Welcome to the other side of the rainbow" Really? No thanks.
what... what does this even mean.

I see you've skipped/ignored all the half dozen posts in this very thread explaining that 'gay pride' isn't about people going "Yeah, I'm so proud of being gay!" It's about people accepting their identities despite the many people saying gay people and the like should be ashamed of what they are.
Neither is anything to be proud of, in any sense of the word. Just shut the fuck up about what sexuality you have. No one should want to know.
Did you completely fail to follow just 1 page of posts or are you just a hateful asshole like the guy in the OP?
[editline]29th July 2015[/editline]
Actually, the fact that you felt such a strong urge to post that that you didn't read any of the other posts goes to show that you are just another bigot.
Yeah, seriously. It's pride, as in opposition to shame. Not pride as in gloating.
Well what's wrong with "straight pride" in that sense?
Well what's wrong with "straight pride" in that sense?
Because our culture doesn't shame someone for being straight. It's not "wrong" to have pride in being straight, it's just an unnecessary ploy to hold a parade about it.
Why is he wearing black and white? Are those the colors of heterosexual pride? You couldn't possibly have picked a more oppressive color scheme than that.
Idk, but that's Goth colours and most goths I know, myself included, are LGBT
lol everyone should be thankful that there is no such thing as "Straight Pride" parades in the first place :v:
Hahaha what a twat. Couldn't get a single friend to attend
holy sit, capitol hill was THE place to be when gay marriage was legalized.
It was like an insane, colorful peacock-incarnate block party.
So fucking funny that no one attended his 'straight pride' event. what a joke

Exactly, gay pride, black pride, etc.
All those pride movements originate from years and years of discrimination and abuse
Well what's wrong with "straight pride" in that sense?
Gay pride is about acceptance, straight people are already accepted. Not to mention Straight pride is dumb because it's almost always a counter-movement to gay pride, in the same sense saying "What about white pride?" is a counter movement to black rights. Being "proud" of being straight is silly because straight people face no opposition or discrimination. When a straight wedding starts getting denied cakes because they're straight, then come back to me about 'What about straight pride"?

Maybe they should've chosen a better word than pride then.
It's weird that you can take pride in being gay but not being straight.
Well what's wrong with "straight pride" in that sense?
There's no shame for it to be opposing.
Maybe they should've chosen a better word than pride then.

No one's really saying you can't take pride in being straight....
I mean you can......
There's just. Not much of a reason to since you're not exactly overcoming any obstacles in doing so.
I don't get the point of "pride" in something so arbitrary as sexuality... I do understand why pride events exist, but why be proud of being born white, black, asian, gay, straight, whatever when you can be proud of something you put work into to achieve?
Because some people feel ashamed of their orientation. There's no straight pride because straight is normal so there's no difference to be proud of.
it's pretty hard to be proud of something everyone else has.
"Status quo pride" is not an event that will invite many people to set aside time in their busy lives--why should they? It's already the status quo, they're already the default and automatically accepted and assumed 99% of the time.
Standing tall and being proud of who you are when you have been raised in an a society that, largely, has treated you with indifference at best and hate-driven violence at worst, that's something that takes courage. That's something that forms communities and develops movements. Standing tall and being proud of being the vast, unthreatened majority is just being a cock when it's reactionary against gay pride. Especially considering this guy's vitrolic hate speech about LGBT.
I don't agree with boys turning into girls, and I don't agree with girls turning into boys.
Mmm. The best kind of shitty opinion is the one from someone who doesn't even understand what their opinion is about
Well what's wrong with "straight pride" in that sense?
Straight is seen as shameful in approximately 0% of the world.
Straight is seen as shameful in approximately 0% of the world.
So what? People are proud of their country, their culture, their family, even when they took no significant part in the success of those groups nor overcomed any significant obstacle to be part of them. Just because gay pride is largely derived from successfully fighting against homophobic bigotry doesn't mean that's how pride works in general. You're taking a specific instance of pride and act as if every particularity it bears is shared by pride at large.
Why is he wearing black and white? Are those the colors of heterosexual pride? You couldn't possibly have picked a more oppressive color scheme than that.
heteros have bad taste in color and fashion
