They should have a mech suit, the wearer has to sit still for a bit while the engi builds it, but it offers extra protection and firepower to the wearer.
They should let the Engi mod the colors and skins of turrets, or give him something small to do while he's sitting in the base, that would help with the boredom.
That would be the worst idea to ever enter TF2. It would be totally useless.
I was thinking more of a Razorback kinda thing for sentries, like a one time use upgrade or something you can add to any building, that when a spy places down a sapper he'd get blown the fuck up or something.
In other news, our minds were blown this week when we saw Andrew Kepple's amazing Spy & Pyro cartoon. We've decided this is final proof that TF2 fans are smarter, more creative, and much better looking than fans of all other video games.
this is most definitely true, i don't know about the smarter part though.
This is really similar to an idea I had a while back. Some kind of alternate dispenser or dispenser add-on that allowed you to connect a dispenser to a sentry so it could auto-repair the sentry at some kind of low rate. Downsides would be that it would take the place of a weapon or prevent upgrading the dispenser while forcing you to build dispensers directly adjacent to sentries, forcing your sentry to have a big blind spot. That said, I'm interested in seeing if they'll consider something similar to the repair node in a new form, like as an alternate dispenser or dispenser add-on. Engineer really needs a way to strengthen his base and allow him to roam; they're very big problems at the moment. And either way, I'm glad to see they're hard at work on the update. If I recall correctly, the last time they made a "look at what we're brainstorming" blog post before a class update was the Heavy update. I like it when they're open about their information and ideas.
My idea was to help the engie be more "offensive" or "supportive". I had an idea a while back that would replace the sentry. Kinda like "squad drones". You designate the owner of them and they will follow the person around and with a decent amount of firepower (about a little less than the sniper's smg) track and shoot at the enemy. They would come from a sort of dispenser that the engie could build and upgrade. That way the engie would help support the front lines. Only now do I see how boring it would be for the player though...
Sniper's SMG is the only reason I play that class most of the time.
the fuck are Valve up to right now? TF2, Portal 2, and the Mac revelation all at the same time? [editline]04:48PM[/editline] Oh and Steam 2010 as well.

They must have crossed a lot of stuff off their to-do list in the past few weeks.

They need to give engy a mortar...
all i want is an unlock for offensive engineers
Damn, the Repair Node or something like it would be cool.
This is the last class update, oh shit
They said that they are considering doing a 2nd round of unlocks.
hope they do more, will give us more of a variety, plus they've still got to sort out the trading system
