So you're saying that those thousands of trolls are justified because "he chose to be a youtube star"? Just FYI, he didn't choose to become it, it happened by chance, and he kinda had to take the offer from TGS or he'd have to file for bankruptcy back then.
At no point did i say that trolls are justified. And just because someone is a critic that doesnt like his youtube videos, they dont suddenly become a troll. When you choose to put videos up for millions of critics to watch, you can expect many people to dislike it. At any point, he had the chance to back away and realize he cant handle criticism. He did not have to take the offer, he should have realized that he cant take criticism and that, perhaps, a hobby that brings him many more critics isnt the best hobby for him. If he was that close to bankruptcy, he should have realized he wasnt doing something right and needed to change his life, and that choosing a hobby that brings on stress that he cant handle isnt a good choice
THEN LEAVE THE BUSINESS
He has to find another job first, it's not like he's swimming in money.
That's the price of beign famous on YT? I mean, many famous Youtubers get ammount of troll comments and shit, but it's something normal I guess, as long as many people support him and makes his job worth it.
It's kind of inevitable if you're a creator in general. I'm mostly surprised that the people here feel bad for TB, but view other creators two-dimensionally like Kanye West or game developers like King. Regardless of the quality of the content creators put out, people are bound to give non-constructive shit talk.
He has to find another job first, it's not like he's swimming in money.
Yeah? If my job made me spend money on a therapist, I would just leave it. "It's not all about money" remember? He's clearly unhappy, and people simply aren't going to stop being trolls online. Should we arrest people for typing out sentences online?

And don't you think there are efforts to be made towards fixing the issue apart from arresting them, which you obviously stated sarcastically.

Even if it doesn't help the issue directly it's important that people speak up about it and it is also a way to let your feelings out, a way of dealing with the whole issue. Like Novawar says in the video, you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.
THEN LEAVE THE BUSINESS The way I see it this whole fiasco is one of three things: 1. TB really can't understand the nature of the internet, and the bad comments are getting to him so badly that he needs a therapist - it's time to leave the business if this is the case, it's not meant for your personality type. 2. TB got sick of the harsh comments and criticism he was getting so he came up with this therapist thing to help calm it down/generate thousands of white knights who will shame everyone out of voicing their opinions or 3. He really doesn't care, his popularity had stopped growing quickly enough, so he threw an imaginary fit as a publicity stunt - if this is the case, TB can fuck off.
I love how someone trying to do something he loves gets harassed and then is told to get out of doing the things he loves because he's being harassed. totalbiscuit is that one video game critic i actually respect just seeing this makes me feel sad for the guy also hes 29? he sounded 40 or older to me holy shit...
I feel bad for TB, alot of people dont realise it but that constant noise in your ear (as it were) can really get to you, the best thing is to just ignore it as much as i hate to say it. Remember you have a very large audience and that its a small minority that are just there to talk shit. Even more so as most people hate honesty. Keep doing what you're doing TB, No-one does it right like you and Angry Joe.

But I'm also saying that if, in the meantime before that perfect internet, you feel suicidal over that behavior, you should stop what you're doing and do something else because it's not worth it.

I never thought it get to that point for TB, He always seemed like someone who if anyone was trolling him he would either ignore them or completely destroy them.
I don't particularly care for TB and honestly find him a bit annoying, but I hope he gets better anyways.
What if his harsh reviews caused the game developers to seek professional help, would you be rabidly defending them against someone who did what they are fully within their rights to do? To me it seems like TB is perfectly content when he's the one being harsh, but when his viewers start being the ones who are harsh he cries mental stress and all of a sudden your a bad person if you criticize him. Not only are you guys helping to spread his name around but you are literally vilifying any criticism to him. That's a real shitty card to play to boost ad revenue if you ask me. There's a fine line between people actually just threatening you and being super mean, and just not wanting to hear people tell you they don't like you. People have every right to say they don't like the guy or his videos, and if that's all this is over then he can fuck off.
The thing is, he's not really mean. He's a great guy in person, and he's not personally attacking anyone or their way of presenting themselves. That's the difference. TB receives personal attacks and criticisms on his own person not his work. What he does to a game developer is criticize their work in a critically fair and brutally honest way. There's nothing wrong just as well to criticize him. But like I said, he's receiving 'criticism' like "TB is a fucking sperglord, he stupid as fuck and his wife is a bitch." (Actual comment.) That's just not fair. [editline]18th February 2014[/editline] Anyway, it's partly the price of 'fame'. Hopefully he'll learn from this and handle the actual critique better in the future. Good luck TB
I don't particularly care for TB and honestly find him a bit annoying, but I hope he gets better anyways.
I want to feel sympathy for him but every time I hear his name I have the mental picture of how he talked to that fan in the comments and it makes me hate his guts. Doesn't mean people should torment him to therapy at all though
I've never seen him post something negative towards fans, only against some shitposters with absolutely dumb comments.
What? What does that even mean? What are you getting at?
Answer the question, I'm genuinely curious.
THEN LEAVE THE BUSINESS
Maybe he values providing for his wife and kid too much to even consider doing that? As has been stated many times in this thread, he isn't swimming in money like so many people believe. If he were to quit, he'd risk going months or even years without income. That wouldn't help his mental state now would it.

Then when all is ready, make a goodbye video. Otherwise Job Hopping, ESPECIALLY THESE FUCKING DAYS, is not easy.
THEN LEAVE THE BUSINESS
Yeah, because if you can't handle the internet, go back to reality, where none of it exists! I mean, its not like there's ever going to be jerks, people trying to constantly get on your nerves, or try and make you feel like shit. Nope, that never happens in real life! :tinfoil:
Whoever says 'quit the business' is either in school or lives with their parents, because they have no idea what it's like to be the one having to pay for everything. Even if he left the business, the shit would go on. He'd probably get even more depressed, because he'd no longer be doing the thing that he loves to do, and he'd just have more free time to get exposed to all the hate (not to mention the hate and deaththreats he'd get for no longer making content).
1. TB really can't understand the nature of the internet
saying "it's just the internet" is the dumbest excuse ever behind keyboards on other computers there's people too
What's with everyone loving TB after this thread. I remember a previous thread here or in the videos section about TB being an ass on Youtube Comments and everyone was against him. Hilarious how fast people change how they think based on the majority.
Yeah, the collective Facepunch hivemind has lost all of it's credibility.
Can somebody link me that gassed SA thread of his where he introduces himself by stating his IQ? I lost the bookmark and need a laugh.
