Fat chance of that under the current system. Everything about the US - from the electoral process, the balance and distribution of power, the political culture itself - everything - needs to be drastically overhauled. As is, we're a shambling mess of a democracy.
We're something evil wearing the corpse of democracy as a disguise.
My congressmen (Curbelo) is bragging about a few corporations claiming to be giving out bonuses and whatnot because of the tax bill. Because of course corporations were struggling SO much before the tax bill and now are willing to give some scraps to the employees. What a great trade. The American people will take $1.5 Trillion in more debt, higher health premiums, and higher taxes for many eventually, but hey some of us will get a one time bonus! God bless corporations and this wonderful GOP tax bill!
Makes me angry, I can't wait to volunteer for his opponent.
Actually yes, a lot of SMEs operate on tight margins and can't afford the kind of tax planning that bigger companies use to lower their tax burden. "Corporations" are a lot more than just Walmart, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs.

Yeah t_d is lit up about how it destroys the narrative. These people are too fucking dumb (probably not your Congressman though) to realize that these companies make obscene net profits and could have easily raised wages or given out bonuses without the tax breaks. This just gives them good publicity and, more important, serves as misdirection for when those promised jobs that would be created don't show up.
It's amazing how people can delude themselves into the belief they're not being fucked.
I mean, some people aren't. There was that one guy in the other thread who said he was going to save a shitload on taxes. If you make a lot of money this is probably great for you.
I'm saying this in all honesty but quite a bit of the 1% should just be shot in the head.
This is the rise of a new America that has realized that the deficit doesn't matter and that growth is the only way forward, at whatever the cost. We're either going to see an unparalleled power play by the United States in the world economy or the next crash.
And instead of utilising this ability to help deleverage the private sector and help lift the living standards of those not fortunate enough to own private jets, the administration decides to introduce this hot mess of a bill in order to further help corporate America get up to their hilarious crash-inducing antics
100% of the country gets the benefits of the tax cuts. I think you're mistaking companies getting tax cuts vs individuals getting tax cuts. Both rich and poor will still pay taxes
you've literally got people in this thread telling you how they'll be fucked. is it just great because you've got a cushy high paying software dev job?
i am personally going to be so fucked that i don't know what my future holds anymore. i honestly don't know what my life will become thanks to this government administration's actions. i will no longer have health insurance, i will likely pay massively increased taxes (despite my earnings not rising at all) and i will possibly lose my ability to stay financially secure in the long run. thanks to this "tax cut" bill.
my life is potentially going to be ruined simply because a bunch of rich pricks serving in elected positions decided that they weren't rich enough as elderly men, and needed to siphon off hard earned money from back-pain suffering, hard working, tax paying, middle class workers like me. and maybe you too. and worst of all, there's literally nothing we can do about this. this is a shame, almost as much of a shame as me not being able to afford to move countries over this. because of this tax bill. :goodjob: GOP, :goodjob:
holy shit, they actually passed something! it only took 11 months!
Wow, 11 months? Well I guess that's good news, there's no way they could have possibly rushed and/or half-assed something this important if it took them 11 months to do it! :downs:
Deadspin wrote a great article about this tax bill revolving around one of the Koch brothers.
Lol, I just finished putting in my applications to graduate school. I'm sort of lucky in that they got rid of the tax clause that would have taxed my tuition waver, but I guess that won't matter that much considering that I'll be taking home even less money than I would have under the previous tax code.
