And why do you treat guns with respect?
BECAUSE THEY'RE FUCKING DANGEROUS.

We aren't talking about that, scooter.
You said guns aren't dangerous. They are. You are practically admitting they are.
Now apologize.
How is it oppression
Some people are allowed to drive and others aren't, people without driving licenses are oppressed!
They had the choice to drive, and if they can't drive then it's probably their fault.
They had the choice to drive, and if they can't drive then it's probably their fault.
They had the choice to own a gun, and if they can't use it responsibly then it's probably their fault.
"They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Guns are not an essential liberty, and the safety would be more than temporary
They had the choice to drive, and if they can't drive then it's probably their fault.
If you have a gun, and you kill someone, you can't use a gun. The legal system took care of it.

No thanks.
I maintain that no inanimate object in innately dangerous. Regardless what the fuck it's designed to do. A 16 year old with 4000 pounds of steel on the highway scares me more than a gun in my face.

lol
[editline]05:06PM[/editline]
Are you retarded?
[editline]05:07PM[/editline]
I mean really, having a gun pointed at my head questions my mortality a lot more than driving.
No thanks.

As much as i enjoy shooting guns. They're dangerous, specially in untrained hands.
And to be honest i bet if you did have a gun pointed in your face you would shit yourself. I've been around a lot of guns and when people joke around and try to point them even when unloaded it bothers me.
Safety is always number one priority when shooting/hunting. If someone doesn't know the rules it is our job as responsible gun users to teach them.
By your logic the car shouldn't scare you, it is a inanimate object.
Another rule you should look in to, if it is mechanical it is bound to fail. (Maybe not today, not this month, but it will fail one day.) And saying a intimate object is not dangerous is asinine - weapons can go off without any help of a operator. Even with the safety on (All the safety does it prevent the trigger from being used) the firing pin/mechanism can still go off without warning.
The cancer that cigarettes produce kill people, ban cigarettes. This is my last comment for this thread...
Guns can kill people, so can everything else. I can kill a person 2000 yards away with a gun, or I can wait till they get off work and strangle them.
Pick your poison I guess is what I'm saying.
Sure it's easier to kill someone with a gun...It just depends on how you look at it as a bigger picture. Everyone has their opinions.

Cigarettes kill the people who smoke them, you can't kill someone else with a cigarette or accidentally smoke one
Guns make it easier to kill people not just because they're powerful but because they're less personal, many people couldn't strangle someone but they'd have no trouble with shooting them
And why do you treat guns with respect?

Yes, they are. But so is a ton of other legal shit.

An extremely over-exaggerated problem
disregard this FP doesn't like me nerding the fuck out about guns
It's more about buying ammunition before the President taxes them.
Since we are in a terrible recession, Obama would rather earn money off the sale of ammunition, so he can fund his overly expensive government programs.
So everyone is getting ammo while it's cheap(ish).
Guns are dangerous, always, and then need to be treated as such.
I hope you never handle a firearm ever. That kind of attitude is incredibly dangerous.
You're missing my point
Don't fuck with something dangerous and you won't get hurt.
Same thing with other stuff.
Power tools, Fire, Electricity, Ovens, etc etc.

Exactly, if people don't have guns they aren't dangerous
Therefore people shouldn't have guns
The main purpose of guns unlike those other things you mentioned are to hurt, it's what they're designed to do
See this is why I hate you people. You have no rationality. It's a GUN. It's DESIGNED to kill.
It isn't safe, for fucks sakes, it's entire purpose in the world is to be as unsafe as it can possibly be!
Treating a firearm like it's safe is how innocent people get shot.
I'm sorry but that last statement is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard you claim. And you say a lot of bullshit Lankist.
If a person treats a gun as if it is loaded at all times, they are safe. Common sense when handling a gun is one of the most important things a person needs to realize. If you act accordingly and handle it properly guns are very safe. They're always dangerous, and yes they're deadly. The point is, guns are spontaneous and aren't going to randomly discharge with no reason.
People still not getting the point that guns are supposed to be dangerous, it's what they're for
The fucking stupidity in this thread is just incredible.
Hey guys, GUNS!
*LEGAL DEBATE*

That was so full of contradictions I don't know where to begin.

Guns can be used in case of self defense or get this
a recreational target range. I could go on about other uses such as collecting and hunting.
You do know that if you ban guns, illegal criminals will still have guns right?
Does that fact kind of go over your head?
HURP DURP CRIMINALS WON"T EVER GO TO A BLACK MARKET OR SOME SHIT, NOPE TOTALLY NOT LOL
Nevermind that to me, it's a freedom to own guns.
I don't like banning people's rights and freedoms.
Fire has more than one purpose, it can cook, it can heat, it can be used on weaponry (flaming arrows, Molotovs)
By your logic, I guess we should ban fire, because it can hurt people. Just like guns,
I don't care that guns were "Designed to kill" because I can use them for self-defence and save my life or someone elses, I can go to a target range and get rid of stress.
Keyword here, Target Range

Notice, Handled PROPERLY.
Anything is safe when it's HANDLED PROPERLY
I guess we should ban fire because it fucking kills people unless they HANDLE IT PROPERLY

Saying that there shouldn't be a law because people are going to break it is pretty crappy logic
Lets just legalise murder because people are gonna murder regardless
And I haven't actually laid out my views completely, I believe hunters should be allowed guns obviously but they tend to know what they're doing
There's no need for a spotty teenager to own a gun just because he plays too many video games and think it's cool

People need gun licenses and alot of money to get a gun.
I think there's some age-limits too.
Sure, I agree there should be laws (Which there are) but let's face it. With guns, it works like this
If Legal
Civilians have guns for Recreation/Self-Defense
Criminals have guns
If Illegal
Civilians are defenseless
Criminals have guns

Guns should be treated as if they're loaded at all times. This makes them dangerous; but if you don't act like a fucking dolt then they can be safe.
My point; guns are safer when you handle them properly and as instructed per the safety information you receive when buying a gun. Most of it is common sense anyways.
