The US already does this you know. The only free schools are government owned and separation of church and state keeps religious teaching out of these schools. Only schools that have religious teaching are private owned.
yeah i'm just saying that the UK is improving
Still remember that learning the basics for the worlds major religions is not a bad thing, it will help diversity. But i'm pretty sure this has to do with crazy religious schools, creationism is fucking crazy.
Sensationalist Headlines.
Which is bannable.
Why do i sense this is going to become a huge shitstorm ( not in FP, in the media )..........oh wait because stuff like this always does! even though it makes sense!
what do you guys mean by "religious teaching?" I think schools should absolutely have lessons about the history and origin of religions
what do you guys mean by "religious teaching?" I think schools should absolutely have lessons about the history and origin of religions
ive not paid close attention to other people's posts here but i'm pretty sure they're just referring to the fact that creationism should not be taught as a substitute for actual scientific lessons like evolution and the big bang theory should be. i agree that religions should be taught in school, but only if it means teaching religion(s) and in a way that makes it clear you're studying religion, rather than learning how god created the universe in science class.
Which is bannable.
Look at how banned I am.
Its banned here too.
Well then, sucks to be me then. (i go to a Catholic School).
Those... THOSE HEATHENS.
I am a bit confused with the title and the posted article. The title suggests that teaching religion (in general) has been banned. Yet the article only says the teaching of creationism. Did I miss something or is the title misleading. In any case if it is just the banning of creationist teachings, good. Frankly, I am surprised this did not happen sooner.
No, if you read the article it clearly states that the teaching of any theories not formally substantiated with scientific evidence has been banned; not creationism exclusively. That includes basically the entirety of the Christian faith. That includes basically the entirety of religion itself. The title is accurate. This only applies to government-sponsored schools, however.
Great title

I personally believe that religion should still be taught in schools (catholic schools/schools that already teach some form of religion) - purely because I believe that all kids should be given a choice to whether they want to 'believe' or not edit: I'm not religious myself, just sayin' that kids need the choice - it shouldn't be forced upon them
Atheists aren't smarter anyway, they're controlled all the same. Either way, they're in the process of getting everyone prepared for a one world government, and from there, a one world religion. In other words, you are all prepared for the mark of the beast.
Not believing in God suddenly makes us controlled? I don't get your cynical logic.
We're all homosexual agents of satan according to religious folk.

Personally I don't mind being taught about religion, but I feel it should be part of a history subject so you don't focus on the one religion. Whether you believe or not a lot of religions can be quite fascinating.

all praise and worship Darwin our savior
Misleading title, but this is very good news.
Not believing in God suddenly makes us controlled? I don't get your cynical logic.
No, your matrix that you create is already doing that long before. [editline]11th January 2012[/editline]
How's the crazy business treating you?
I'm doing better than all on facepunch
No, your matrix that you create is already doing that long before.
This is the equivalent of verbal diarrhea.
This is the equivalent of verbal diarrhea.
It's a fact to twist your cap that we all do create our own matrix that we live in.
Sounds like somebody's been hitting the Orgone energy a little hard.
Orgone energy is something that a blind person is trying to describe. We're all blind. Your eyes see light, but your minds eye is blind.
Orgone energy is something that a blind person is trying to describe. We're all blind. Your eyes see light, but your minds eye is blind.
get to your point
Orgone energy is something that a blind person is trying to describe. We're all blind. Your eyes see light, but your minds eye is blind.
Oh shut up.
But UK public schools do have a "religious class"? Where they actually do learn the history and fundamentals of other major religions? Since that will always be a good thing.
Poor Otsegolation has more screws loose than Home Depot after an earthquake.
