I was talking more about the reference to Reservoir.
For a kids movie, its talking about things that kids wouldn't watch.
But the people who watched TMNT are grown ups now.
One of these things is not like the others.
All of these things are like the others in that they're all original movies from during or after 2000.
Although PotC is debatable since it's based on a Disney ride.

Wasn't it based on the Monkey Island franchise too or was that just an urban legend?
Somewhat related... but after reading this article (and a bunch more) I went for a nap on my sofa.
What followed afterwards was a dream that actually felt like a fucking lifetime. I awoke 3 hours later with sweat beading on my forehead and my blanket thrown across the table.
I dreamt of a scenario where James Cameron and I had to go back in time to stop Michael Bay ever making Transformers. We viewed ourselves as heroes, and that it was for the good of mankind. However, it turned into such a terrifying fucking nightmare. Our actions had some sort of knock on effect and it basically culminated in the end of the world. I can't remember exactly how it happened, but it was so vivid and batshit insane.
Also a creepy CGI interpretation of Ren and Stimpy were there.

I swear to god I'm not making any of that up... I actually feel quite shaken.
Raphael: God Donatello, you're as slow as a TURTLE today!
*sitcom laugh*
Can someone just assassinate him already?
These kinds of scripts are written about in LEGENDS. I can't believe this is for real.
Yes it does. What exactly do you want from this movie? Do you want a darker plot, with more seriousness, some drama and less humor? Well guess what. The 2003 series had that. And it failed
Something being just as bad makes it better?
Something being just as bad makes it better?
I never said it was bad. I like TNMT, both the old ones and the 2003 series. If you think TNMT is bad, then why the hell do you care about this
Wasn't it based on the Monkey Island franchise too or was that just an urban legend?
Nope, it was based on the ride, which was built in the 1960's. Although there's some evidence to suggest a connection*, there's never been any sort of confirmation.
What the hell, I thought I heard this had been cancelled
50% Explosions 50% Shia LeBouf screaming like a little bitch.
a scene from the movie was just released!!!
It seems people are getting in a gripe because these are the kind of cheesy lame jokes tailored for the late 80's and early 90's and it's been over 20 years and everybody is all grown up and have different tastes/expectations now.
Some of you should re-evaluate what you actually liked about the original TMNT cartoon aside from it's monetary nostalgic value, and then apply those characteristics to what you will see with this film, I wouldn't be surprised if they are quite similar.
TMNT is being recultivated for a new audience while trying to reach out the old audience, take it for what it is, It's going to be cheesy and lame, because that's what TMNT was, stop expecting a shakespearean screenplay.
Stop expecting it to have new and fresh humor, it's going to be based on 80s-90s type type of humor, so the reason why the jokes might be old and over used, that's because it's been 20 years.
Overall, wait until the movie comes out.
Yes, TMNT was cheesy, it was lame, but it wasn't THIS. This isn't a TMNT movie anymore, its a Michael Bay movie; dumb protagonist mostly unrelated to the heroes (I know, he's based on a character, but I know that character was a badass motocyclist and not a damn Shia LaBeouf expy), throwaway jokes to things completely unrelated (see: Kermit the Frog), and, most of all, strange and completely contrived ways to make the mains look like their originals (the masks, and most likely how they'll explain the ninjitsu and Casey's probable original look).
Look, I'm not afraid to admit that the original TMNT was about 10 years before my time (my only connection being TMNT toy looking like a dinosaur based on the newer cartoon), but this...this is horrible. It is being recultivated for a new audience, yes, but its the Transformers 3 audience, an audience most likely not the same audience who watched the cartoon when they were a kid.

Michael bay is not making this movie, He's producing it. There are several writers for this movie, none being michael bay, and there is a separate director for this movie. Stop saying this is ruined because it's a Michael bay movie.
The screenplay was even scrapped, so anything we are now seeing, won't be used.
And Just doing more research, two of the writers have been working on TMNT content since 1989, but they're working on the characters, not the screenplay.
1980 TMNT is better than this shit

Sorry, kinda jumped the gun on my comments. I suppose my blind hate on Michael Bay was a bit much, and I'm sorry for not doing much research. Of course, having two writers from classic TMNT only work on characters is a bit weird, but I guess its better than nothing.
I always kinda hated TMNT anyways...
It was cheesy as fuck back then too. Michael Bay's is probably worse but I don't really care enough to look through.
Sorry for the rest of you guys I guess.

do not ever underestimate the role of a producer for a film. they're effectively the ones who direct above the director. they have such a huge hand in bringing a film to production.

Yeah, but apparently they're not taking any advice from them at all, the actual screen writers have worked on nothing notably good.

May be true, but it's not going to have that Michael Bay feel with explosions, and aside from that point, there are 4 writers working on the film, they are the ones that need to fix this shit up
