Congratulations, you've just proved my point - it's not facebook you hate, it's people posting stupid shit. Are these your actual friends posting these things? If they are, do they do this in real life? If they are, why are these your friends if they drive you crazy? Taking a quick look down my news feed, I've got some photos from a beach party I went to, a friend learning to paddleboard, some profile picture changes, some more friends posting photos of them at the beach, a few random songs, some louis ck stand up videos, some shots of a friend playing american football, etc. I do occasionally get a few stupid SWAG posts from old friends that I've kinda grown distant from but honestly nothing really rageworthy.
why do you care so much that other people don't like facebook?
a certain part of me wants to quit facebook because of this crap
a certain part of me wants to quit facebook because of this crap
Please do. It's not worth it to be a part of that cesspool.
But the article supposes that not having a Facebook account means you have no friends, which is rediculous. How many people you know has no effect on your ability to sign up to a free website. You can have no interpersonal interaction at all and still have a Facebook account. You say Facepunch is against Facebook for being a social network when that's what a forum is, Facepunch IS a social networking site, it just has a different form and attitude to Facebook.
Facepunch is not a social networking site, social has it's roots in real physical gatherings and although that does occasionally happen it's far from often. I don't come to facepunch to meet friends, I go to parties and meet friends through other friends. Like I said, I'm not saying that you can't have friends if you don't have a facebook, just that people who have almost no friends generally don't have facebook - you're getting it backwards. Generally even people who do have friends and don't have facebook are just annoying their friends, because while everybody's discussing when they should have x event, who's going, where it should be held - they have to have the information re-relayed to them over and over again and have someone post it for them, and remind them when the event is happening.
Hey, I still don't see your Facebook profile on your Facepunch profile! If you gave no shits about privacy, it'd have been linked, wouldn't it?
I trust Facebook Incorporated and Google more than Facepunch's community. Someone would probably attack my page for my insistence on assailing those without Facebooks.
I trust Facebook Incorporated and Google more than Facepunch's community. You are able to delete said posts you know.
What fucking point on privacy? I didn't say that privacy is never a concern. I might have said something vague, but in saying it I was referring to just Facebook's manipulation of my own information.
I trust Facebook Incorporated and Google more than Facepunch's community. Someone would probably attack my page for my insistence on assailing those without Facebooks.
no one cares dude no one would attack you
I know I know
What fucking point on privacy? I didn't say that privacy is never a concern. You'd get a lot of unwanted junk in the weeks afterwards.
Oh wah. Junk mail, what else is new. If things like that could actually happen. In other news, Elecbullet is facilitating his social life by using Facebook.
Oh wah. Junk mail, what else is new. If things like that could actually happen. In other news, Elecbullet is facilitating his social life by using Facebook.
So anyone that doesn't have an account has no social life? What a great analogy there.
you should edit the title: most likely insane, mass murderer or no social life
Says the person that doesn't have a Facebook account linked to his Facepunch profile
What does it matter if your Facebook isn't linked to Facepunch, I don't have mine linked either.
the idea that an employer should even care about whether or not you have a facebook account is really ridiculous
So anyone that doesn't have an account has no social life? What a great analogy there.
What the fuck are you doing, you're being completely ridiculous with everything you post NO, I'm not saying that, it's fun to push the opponent's view to an extreme strawman but it's in bad practice. Facebook is good for a social life.
What does it matter if your Facebook isn't linked to Facepunch, I don't have mine linked either.
Elecbullet said he didn't give a shit about privacy (example: if Facebook told him his girlfriend was pregnant (which actually happened to someone, but from Target), how they use the data), so if he didn't, he would have it linked. He's just making things up about how he doesn't give a shit and is generally being an apologist for Facebook.
Facepunch is not a social networking site, social has it's roots in real physical gatherings and although that does occasionally happen it's far from often. Us discussing this article is a social interaction. It's not having fun with a friend or going to a family event. Social interaction is just interaction with other people in, get this, society. Also what am I getting backwards? I'm saying that whether or not you have friends has nothing to do with if you have a Facebook account and having a Facebook account doesn't mean you have friends. Also, "oh no, I have to inform friends about something and I can't just put up a blanket announcement." That sounds more more antisocial than social to me. You're saying People without Facebook are antisocial, which is wrong because Facebook is not the only means of social interaction.
So anyone that doesn't have an account has no social life? What a great analogy there.
Nobody is saying that, there are people who have active social lives and they don't have facebook but they're a pretty small fucking group. I don't even use facebook as often as most, it's just annoying that every time facebook is brought up no discussion can be had because there's like 90 posts of completely spaghetti fountains spewing absolute bullshit about how facebook is a cancer because they're 7 year old cousin posted a stupid meme :downs:
Facebook is good for a social life.
Of course, so is going outside and chatting with friends. If you think that Facebook = a majority of one person's social life, think again. It's much more beneficial to chat in real life than it is typing.
Elecbullet said he didn't give a shit about privacy (example: if Facebook told him his girlfriend was pregnant (which actually happened to someone, but from Target), how they use the data), so if he didn't, he would have it linked.
About privacy, I don't consider it very important. I just don't see much bad that will come out of it. Google tracks me. The end result is I see computer ads instead of Claire's or JC Penney.
That is a vague, perhaps confusing statement. I admit it. But I meant it to say that I don't consider privacy as very important with regards to this specific problem of Facebook selling information, not that I don't value privacy in general.
Well parhaps it somewhat works out that way. I see non- Facebookers as antisocial.
I enjoy your broad, sweeping statements with nothing to back them up. Non-facebookers are probably more sane if anything, because Facebook is horrible. Most people's intelligence seems to degrade by about 70% or so when they get in front of a screen, with only a few exceptions. They don't run the risk of actual retaliation by another person, so they just say stupid shit.

I don't use facebook regularly because I really don't care what my friends and family are up to every minute of every day
I fucking get it but it's nice to have both!
Yes, but which one is more beneficial?
facebook is only considered a means of social interaction because almost everybody (in the western world) uses it. I don't use facebook regularly because I really don't care what my friends and family are up to every minute of every day
Yeah, that's a part of it. Facebook isn't the best social networking site I'm sure, it's just the one people use. As such it's the most important.
I have a Facebook acc, but I don't use it all cause I feel it's useless for me. Beware, I might become a mass murderer.
Yes, but which one is more beneficial?
The personal interaction but who gives a shit, they're both important!
