Not being on Facebook is 'suspicious' - most likely insane or a mass murderer

And no, I've told you that I don't think it's the best plan of action, but if you want to live like that then all I can say is "don't say I didn't warn you" cause I feel there are bigger and better things.
for you
AUTO MEEERRRGE!!!!
for you
great
No they can't, that's illegal.
Doesn't mean they don't do it. Big corporations do things that are against the law all the time. Nobody with any power ever calls them out on it.
Their ToS and privacy policy still hold up regardless of your privacy settings. It only controls what other people (excluding Facebook's admins) see.
No, they won't hold up in court.
Difference being that selling personal information without consent is illegal, and you can't consent merely by signing up, that wouldn't hold up in court.
better tell that to companies like google, twitter and facebook which make millions mining your personal information and usage statistics without your informed consent
I was more responding to your "not once has this been a factor in anything" with my reference to "in history". Either way, I legitimate do believe a lot of people are angry at facebook because of a lack of friends, I don't think they're a worse person for that or that I'm better in any way. A lot of people have social issues because of family troubles growing up, disorders, or any other number of things,
lol
or completely insane shit like "wickedplayer" is saying, and the anger seems really unwarranted.
Last time I checked, I never went to a mental asylum
No they can't, that's illegal.
yes, yes it is. and yet they do
You so clever.
No, they won't hold up in court.
You're intentionally forfeiting your data to them. Its theirs, and they can do what they want with it. Same goes with Google and any other big company.
No, they won't hold up in court.
And who's taking them to court over it? Hrm? Last time I checked nobody with any authority ever calls companies out on shit like that. Facebook may very well be breaking the law but nobody with any power gives a rat's ass, so they're free to sell every last bit they can get on their users to whoever will pay the most for it.
Doesn't mean they don't do it. Big corporations do things that are against the law all the time. Nobody with any power ever calls them out on it.
Yes it does, the EU calls out and heavily fines large corporations for things like this.
that's true I don't have facebook and any other social site account because i don't have friends there and yes I'm very want kill people but im too poor to buy a guns they cost too much
Yes it does, the EU calls out and heavily fines large corporations for things like this.
So what? They've got big stacks of cash.
Plus, all the big companies operate in the US, so they're subject to US laws.
You so clever.
was that a sarcastic snipe? how cute
Yes it does, the EU calls out and heavily fines large corporations for things like this.
......so why hasn't Facebook been in the EU courts? Answer me that. They've been doing this shit pretty much since day one, it's how they can afford to run the site.

Even if what I just said isn't true, you're dead wrong about this one.
This is the stupidest thing I have read in months.
......so why hasn't Facebook been in the EU courts? Answer me that. They've been doing this shit pretty much since day one, it's how they can afford to run the site.
Because the EU doesn't have to take them to court? They just fine them, no court necessary.
Even if what I just said isn't true, you're dead wrong about this one.
EU laws don't apply to anyone in the US or any other countries that aren't in the EU.

Anyone doing business in a country is subject to local laws, this includes internet businesses.
Okay, enough with all this bullshit. Facebook is a TOOL to help with a social life. It is NOT your social life. You can be skilled at using a hammer, while others my hit themselves in the hand all the time. If you're not social, you can still have a Facebook account. Likewise, I know a few people who are quite popular and do not have a Facebook.
Several of my friends are always online every time I log on. They rarely post statuses, but they're online, just sitting idly on the chat. Is that social? Facebook is meant to help you talk and connect with people. If you are not the type of person to do that, you probably aren't going to connect, online or not. But the accusation that not having a Facebook makes a person "antisocial" or dangerous is ridiculous.
Of course, and for the record, that's basically been my point the whole thread
But that's been my point the whole thread. You see what we did man! You see how we fucked up!
I was more responding to your "not once has this been a factor in anything" with my reference to "in history". Okay, fair enough, that was my bad. Yeah, there are people who have no/few friends and hate Facebook because they feel left out. I thought you meant in this thread.
It's just the way you're interpreting it, I'm seeing it as the other way around. I open any thread on facebook and the first thing I see is a tonne of angry posts or completely insane shit like "wickedplayer" is saying, and the anger seems really unwarranted.
A lot of that is just people having fun though. They're just mocking stupid shit that does happen, I'd imagine someone who has little interaction on Facebook could see all the mocking, think that the selected material is representative of all of Facebook, and then develop an irrational hatred of Facebook. I don't think that's the case on Facepunch, hell most people on Facepunch are probably also on Facebook.
It was me quoting myself, I just had a hard time understanding why anyone would think my posts were "aggressive". I was anticipating an argument because generally what happens when you post a contradictory opinion on facepunch is angry personal attacks and poorly thought out strawmans. I completely understand that I may come off entirely different than I am - it's easy for things to be misunderstood when voice tones can't be heard.
Agreed, I mean look at my first reply. We were agruing the same point against each other.
Because the EU doesn't have to take them to court? They just fine them, no court necessary.
Nobody with any power has said a damn thing to Facebook regarding their selling of info. Whether or not it's illegal, fact of the matter is, FB sells everything they can. It's why I don't use the site, their privacy policy can be summed up with "We own everything about you, there's nothing you can do about it, now go play FarmVille like a good data mine".
social interaction through facebook is meaningless
That's not true at all, as long as the people on your friends list are your actual friends.
I have Facebook, yet rarely use it. I think using it daily will make you stupid, close-minded and kind of depressed, after all 'Fear of missing out' is a real thing.
a murder would have a facebook, or how would he stalk his next murder victims? It's a useful tool for stalking
does calling facebook a shitty social network make me insane? I'm pretty sure that's the case here, because every time I scroll down my news feed I want to shoot myself and other people.
I should go delete my Facebook account to make myself seem more insane.
I deleted / deactivated my account a year ago or something like that. At least no ones able to take a look at my profile or google me up or something.
Facebook is pretty dull, if you take a close look at it. Of course there are subjective impressions of it, yet I can't really make out a good reason for me to get there another time.
Once I added all my buddies and people I know, nothing of worth really happened back then. I talked to a few people, got a brief message of their actual situation - and that's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Just shit giggling about stupid pics and vids, crappy music I don't like and opinions and thoughts I couldn't care less about. Not that these people aren't important - I just realized how boring and stupid everything was. I don't care if someone's still awake at 3 AM and listening to some dubstep and I certainly can't give a shit about some glittering picture with "LUV" in it, picturing the same generic content you can get everywhere and just badly photoshopped somewhere in between all this chaotic mess in neon pink.
And the same shit repeated itself over and over again, every goddamn day. Even somewhat half interesting things got lost easily and people spammed me with requests about shitty Zynga-Games, which aren't even fun in any way. (I tried Cityville just to see what people like and man... I wanted to throw up so bad.)
So I came to the conclusion that nothing of value was lost if I just move on and let everyone else continue to crawl through the hellish pits of idiotic shit if they want. I still got a mobilephone and skype if something's up - and that's enough. No one gives a slight fuck about your interests or your life at some point as long as there's nothing critical happening. Why pretend to "socialize" if you don't really do that?
This gets me back on topic: Accusing someone of being "suspicious" just because you don't have a facebook-account - fine! See if I care. If some company would ask me why I don't have an account I'd simply answer with:
"It's boring, dull and I probably would just post metal in it in order to pretend I'd be actually interested in exposing myself to the fullest for other people."
Edit: IF YOU DON'T USE FACEBOOK, YOU'RE SUPPORTING HITLER
