lol
Whilst I think everyone's done it to death, this guy can't really go around saying that you shouldn't enjoy it.
Funfact: Gangam Style was discovered in Poland about 2 weeks ago and it's very popular nowadays.
He could be signed to some dumb record label or something.
Assuming he does get it all I guess I feel a bit better about all this; I felt kind of sorry for Psy because everyone was trying to ride his coattails rather than work with him and create something memorable. See his appearance on Ellen or SNL, it's always just "do the dance" like he's a dancing monkey or something. Even worse, this kind of saturation makes it all the more likely he'll go out a one-hit wonder.
...but if he's pretty much set for life anyway, I guess it doesn't matter.
He has made more songs before, Gangnam style was something he created as a return from his break of not composing songs.
I can somewhat agree that Gangnam Style is losing it's charm but this isn't even news. It's pretty much a blog entry or editorial.
The song isn't awful in fact it's got a quite catchy tune anyone can get into, I just wish I didn't hear everywhere I go all the time
As I started reading the article I kept thinking to myself "Dude, don't worry, remember how the Macarena was way popular and then vanished suddenly? The same thing will happen to Gangnam Style, you just gotta wait it out" And I had this awesome post in mind where I would talk about the Macarena and share my thoughts... And then a few paragraphs in he starts talking about the Macarena himself and ruining all my plans and hopes and dreams. Screw you, Jarrett Bellini. I hope Gangnam Style, and the Macarena, are played constantly in the cubicles next to yours.
Terrible song anyways.
Guys, I am from CNN. Breathing is dead, stop doing it.
I never really enjoyed it that much.
Live long.. and prosper.. Gangnam Style 4eva
Don't get the hype, the song was some shit, generic electro house and the video was mildly entertaining.
shitty song
This is only more incentive for record companies to encourage music videos going viral. I'm not really sure if that's a positive thing or not.
Then why was it so popular when my friend played this over the intercom at my school?
Gagnam style is popular because it's absurd from a western perspective. Strange and silly in the way pop in the West was in the late eighties and early 90s.
Overplayed or not, it's genuinely a good song. When Radio One played it it felt like the best thing they had played since Gotye left the charts.
Yea, I like the song, but I have to agree it is getting a bit old. But:
But now it's time for all of us to come together and stop the madness. Thus, let it be known that I hereby declare October 12, 2012, as the day "Gangnam Style" died.
Sorry, folks. We're done. It's officially no longer a thing. Psy seems like a really good dude, and I hate to have done this to his song, but this morning I slowly walked "Gangnam Style" out into the backyard, thanked it for the good times and shot it.
Jesus, when I read this I wanted to punch him so fucking hard in the face, this is just so stupid. Sure, maybe trends end, or something but you can't declare a trend ended cause it's your opinion. Since when did trends have a death day, anyways? This is just ridiculously stupid.
the bit about the kangaroo fucking
this is not very respectable lmao
his next blog should be titled "Apparently this matters: Apparently this matters"
As long as it remains somewhat high in the charts (still in the top 10 in the UK as of the update on Wednesday) its still a thing IMO. If people still like it and stuff its still a thing.
Silly CNN.
Did anyone else expect this to be an Onion Article at first?
I don't know what makes Gangnam Style so popular, nor do I care. I listened to it a few times and it's pretty catchy but not something you could call frustratingly intrusive memetic bullshit. Whoever wrote that article is a hipster wasting his life writing shit about popular things.
This song is like the new Macarena.
More like Broken Condom Store
The funny thing is Facepunch usually hate things that get so popular and ~mainstream~.
Gangnam Style is the one exception.
I have to give PSY credit.
He's the first KPop artist I'm aware of that actually made it into the international mainstream. That's a goddamn achievement right there if you ask me.

To be honest I think its just one of those things that catches on for no reason what so ever.
Or its that dance.
