He's ignoring whatever anyone else wants and is acting on his moral values.
Sounds pretty Republican to me.

But they're good moral values, thats why it isnt republican.

Difference being these moral values are actually based in logic and reason.

Good according to you, and yes I agree that what he is working towards is positive in my opinion but others with differently aligned moral compasses may disagree.
Isn't he supposed to represent the views of his supporters and not just his own? I thought that was what representative democracy was...
And then

I am at a loss for words at how great this is. The fact that this guy is a republican and is saying these things is awesome

It's possible that they elected him for something more than his stance on gay rights.
Plus, the duty of a congressman is not only to make decisions that benefit constituents, but also weigh that factor in against the well-being of the rest of the nation.
Gay rights won't kill anybody, it's just that people's misinformed opinions are, well, misinformed and don't deserve to be represented in any government body.
You can be Republican without being against homosexuality. It just seems to be a tendency among them.
Ha yeah it's just the Republicans who use deceit and the Democratic candidates are all in it for the greater good
great to see that you're still fp's local republican apologist

i doubt someone who's coming out for gay rights had being anti-gay rights as a campaign issue
can't they agree on new names or something
Not really. They can't agree on anything. It's a pissing contest where both refuse to shake their dicks and give up (pardon the Other Guys reference). It hasn't become about compromise, or finding the most appropriate approach to economic and social issues, it's become an "I'm right you're wrong." "NOU." contest. Compromise is frowned upon, even though it's truly the only way to avoid stalemate and constant whining. Take the A.C.A. for example. Neither side let up at first, then once it was voted in, Republicans have been constantly wetting their pants and stomping around like Toddler Force One because they didn't get what they wanted.
Think of them like a bunch of big children, since that's all they really are. Anthony Weiner whores all the attention, Sarah Palin is the girl that picks her boogers and eats them, Barack Obama is the smooth, smart kid that everyone hates, Newt Gingrich is the immature older kid that breaks out laughing when somebody farts or says anything relating to penises, and so forth. Capitol Hill is literally a giant preschool.
What the issue is, Most of New york's population does want gay marriage to be, But the population voted a bunch of fuck heads who don't support it. So basically our representatives (Except McDonald of course) are going to fuck it up.
This is what politics should be. Getting something done, without giving a fuck about political opposition or what other people think.

That's something a friend of mine pointed out to me: He's liberal, and likes Obama, but he respects Bush more than he does Obama because Bush did what it took to get things done.
Granted Bush was a delirious fucknugget whose perception of "the right thing to do" was heavily skewed, but you get the idea.

Yeah, I prefer Stalin now though. He got more shit done than Hitler and did it more for the USSR rather than his race.
I prefer Goebbels.
He was hilarious.
sane Republicans, a severely endangered species.
