Have you ever seen blue blood?
Yes, in most species of crab and lobster.
Haemoglobin isn't blue whether it's oxygenated or deoxygenated.
Crustaceans and cephalopods have copper instead of iron as their prosthetic group, making hemocyanin which makes their blood blue.

God damn ninjas
If it's possible to administer this to the brain fairly easily and completely, this could be a brilliant way to temporarily stave off brain damage in seizure patients (among other things).
Wonder if it'll ever come into proper use or if it'll just wind up being another 'wonder drug' that creates a stir and vanishes forever, along with the 500 or so 'Cancer Cures' and such already out there.
This will be great to prevent someone from coding over, or for preventing brain damage in emergency situations.
Too bad this is probably a BITCH to produce, and needs years of research for it is ready to be used correctly.
why is every word in the title capitalized?
Heh, misleading title. It's only short term. No underwater or in space breathing, guys.
Actually it would work underwater, just for a short time though (less than 15 minutes).
Imagine storing this stuff on a boat or a car first aid hit. Suddenly you find yourself trapped and sinking. Instead of drowning within minutes without oxygen, just quickly inject yourself with this shit and you'll be able to easily get out while underwater/submerged within 15-20 minutes before the effect wears off, and avoid drowning.
It's like a water(not)breathing potion! :v:

Wouldn't there still be some sort of psychological reaction to not breathing? I've heard that breathing is so deeply hardwired into the brain that it'll force you to take a breath after a certain amount of time regardless of your being in water.
Even with oxygenated blood, your lungs would still be full of water, and your brain would basically be going "Shitshitshitshit... shit! What the shit!"

That feel when you self waterboard :smith:
So many less autoerotic asphyxia deaths.

Sounds like a plasmid/tonic effect from Bioshock.
