and we did that to American long before this.
What?
If you are a complete nut, buy a bunch of guns and turn your house into a fortress its you business. However if you do that AND install spring guns in your neighbours garden and use drones to spy on the whole neighbourhood it gets kinda suspicious, dont you think?
Apparently your understanding of history doesn't start until the 2000's.
See what you would do Ron Paul?
make some german people have to relocate? are we supposed to continue spending our money because we don't want to burden them?

America has outdated bases around the world formed during the Cold War to deter Soviet invasion and act as barriers between them and the USA. We're cutting our defense budget (something we drop an estimated 300 mil a year on) in order to protect the economy. You must be 3 years old if your so easily willing to buy into the stereotype of "the US is an evil dirty warmonger who wants to destroy us all". Everyone, hell, even the French, know that stereotype isn't true. Plus, you should be pleading for us to stay. As the article states (Though of course you probably didn't bother reading it) entire towns have sprung up to accommodate the American troops and citizens. These towns economy rely almost entirely on these bases and troops, and they would be ghost towns without them. That's why the German-American relations guy in the article wanted us to stay. Not for protection but for economics. This is pretty basic stuff.
Reduced to 10,000? Why not to 0?
I think the Germans have really cool names for shit.
I think the Germans have really cool names for shit.
SchnitzelfüBsagschnagrürïch.
SchnitzelfüBsagschnagrürïch.
I think he means actual german words like Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft or Oberdonaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitänskajütenschlüsselloch. Also there is no ï in the German language.
Reduced to 10,000? Why not to 0?

The Russians left eastern Germany with the reunification of the country two decades ago. That is like trying to insult Americans with the trail of tears.

On a serious note, it is sad to see us go from that small town, its really going to hurt their economy and with all the other cuts, the places that WANT us to stay will sadly suffer. :(
At least we didn't murder millions of Jews. Oh snap!
Americans have murdered millions of native americans though
Americans have murdered millions of native americans though
No, disease and lead bullets killed them.
Damn, 67 years. That's a long time, hope they fare well. [editline]28th January 2012[/editline]
Americans have murdered millions of native americans though
Yes, lets ramble on the countless millions that European nations have killed as well. Nobody can or ever will be perfect.
Its sad sure, But it was bound to happen eventually.
It's only sad for that one town. It's not that bad.
America get out America pls stay
The world is just tsundere for America.
Shame. I agree that we don't need to have troops stationed there, but now lots of people are loosing their jobs and financial security because of the cuts, American and Non-Americans.
The Pentagon on Thursday announced sweeping defense cuts of $487 billion over the next decade, as it seeks to create a smaller, more agile force
Did I read this right? Was I dropped into alternative reality this morning? America? Cutting it's defence budged? I thought the guys in the house would rather DIE than let anyone do anything but increase the funding of military.
Defense cuts have been on the table for months
I can understand having some troops in the country but even after this pullout there will still be around 40,000 troops in Germany
I personally want the American taxpayer to subsidize my city as well
sorry but australian women are not as appealing as german women
