How did this even get reported in the news? This situation could of easily been resolved by saying "hey quit wearing that you're going to scare the locals" at the soldier.
Here's another one:
I swear mexican soldiers wore these in some photos :v:
Balaclavas are cool, but it suddenly becomes unacceptable if there's a skull on it?
There's no sadface rating. :(
Everyone in this topic is retarded or very young. You cannot, I repeat cannot justify wearing skull masks and or balaklavas on a fucking peace mission. I know you live in a videogame reality but in real life this as faux pas as it gets...
this while this isn't exactly a UN mission, you wouldn't see the blue helmet go well with a face mask either.
I'm guessing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Konna was the conflict those french soldiers were in? If so, damnnnn.

masks or just hidden facial features can have an effect on human interaction. The lack of a visible face and visible emotion dehumanises a person, now replace his face with a skull that symbolises death.
The French Army could be doing something more useful instead of complaining about one man wearing a mask.

Civilians will be scared of foreign soldiers regardless if they're wearing a piece of cloth that covers their mouth or not. As far as we know the soldier in the photo hasn't been slaughtering civilians or torching villages, he doesn't deserve to be court-marshaled because he's wearing a damn bandana.
That guy is a pilot or other helicopter crew man
He's a army chopper door gunner I think.
Exactly, I'd find the guns they carry to be more scary than some clothes.
You're going to hate a soldier parading through your village a lot more if you think he's enjoying the killing like the mask makes it look.
