And only 2 pages into the thread and someone has used the Godwin Card.
No but it's true. Letting people die to preserve the "species" is the same line of logic that the fucking Aryans used.
Then do please kill yourself.
you might aswell come with me
you might aswell come with me
Ideally, everyone should.
If the world hung in the balance and the only way to save it was for me to die, you'd expect me to kill myself, right?
I'm quoting myself in case you missed this, Lankist.
Would you rather have SOME people starve? Or have this world turn into a shithole and have EVERYONE starve?
I would rather we stop people from starving instead of spending so much goddamn money on a whole bunch of nothing. Stop trying to fabricate mutually exclusive options to put words into my mouth. I said what I goddamn mean.
No but it's true. Letting people die to preserve the "species" is the same line of logic that the fucking Aryans used.
The military are nazis then. Send people into war to save their countries from being invaded, or saving other people. They die, but it's for a good cause right?
FYI unsympathetic, lying assholes are in 3rd world countries too. FYI I am comparing you to a war criminal.
what?
I can see canceling the moon mission, but canceling the Ares program seems like an astronomical mistake.
I'm quoting myself in case you missed this, Lankist.
I did not reply because it is entirely irrelevant. The world is not hanging in the balance because we are not farting about on the moon.
I did not reply because it is entirely irrelevant. The world is not hanging in the balance because we are not farting about on the moon.
I'm just saying that if that scenario should ever arise, and you expected me to die, you're a hypocrite for saying here that the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many. You didn't reply because you knew that this is what I was doing.
Good decision, in my opinion. It cost unreal amounts of money, most likely, and there really is nothing of value out there. Not only that, but considering the shit we're going through RIGHT NOW, we need as much money as we can to get affairs back on earth dealt with.
what?
I am saying stupid children in 1st world countries don't have a perspective. I did not imply the opposite is universally true. It is entirely possible for one such as yourself to have lived in a 3rd world country and still come out a complete and utter fucking moron.
Obama waisted Nasa's money. WE MUST RIOT OBAMA YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Obama = No Effort
I'm just saying that if that scenario should ever arise, and you expected me to die, you're a hypocrite for saying here that the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many. You didn't reply because you knew that this is what I was doing.
That's not what I'm saying at all. I am an individualist. What I am saying is that space exploration is a fucking useless waste of money, and there are much more useful things that money could be spent on.
Obama waisted Nasa's money. WE MUST RIOT OBAMA YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Obama = No Effort
Pardon?
I am saying stupid children in 1st world countries don't have a perspective. I did not imply the opposite is universally true.
That's not what I'm saying at all. I am an individualist. What I am saying is that space exploration is a fucking useless waste of money, and there are much more useful things that money could be spent on.
Such as Science and Technology. :science:

You believe that the outcome of space exploration is useless. Fine enough, that's your opinion. But you can't say that it doesn't open the doors to a massive amount of knowledge and technological advancement.

ITT: Lankist takes a shit on yet another thread. On topic, I have mixed feelings about this. Sure, it's a good idea for the Feds to be saving money at a time like this but the Space Program was a low blow.
If it wasn't for the original race to get to the moon, we wouldn't be having this argument because none of the technology we're using would exist.
Name a technology that couldn't have been made or replicated here on Earth.
I challenge any of you to name one provable and feasible advantage to visiting the moon again.
digital television,GPS navigation, cell phone technology, satellite radio etc. While actual space exploration brings little innovations, the technology developed to get to space, tends to create some new tech. And here I am talking about a subject I know little about, so I'll shut up now.
Pretty sure internet and computers were on their way to fruition before we ever even set our sights on the moon.
There are so many natural resources on Mars I'm positively tripping over them.
God damn, Lankist is in full-on mean drunk mode in this thread. "you think space is important, fuck you sociopath war criminal kid"
I am saying stupid children in 1st world countries don't have a perspective. I did not imply the opposite is universally true. However, I still feel I have an understanding that's why me, a person who has a fascination for space and would love nothing more then to see mars colonization, agree that it's just secondary to domestic problems.

They haven't been to the moon for such a long time, so it's not like we're going to miss out of Mass Effect type technology on Mars or something.
I am making perfect sense, you are merely applying a fabricated argument to my own because you refuse to acknowledge the things that I say for what they are.
like what? spending 20b on a third world country will get us somewhere? sure people can sleep better at night and people won't be starving but it does absolutely nothing for us. you say going to the moon is a waste since it generates nothing, and we can use it to build an infastructure which will also generate nothing for us
