"Play your games while downloading"
Enjoy your corrupted downloads and saves.
Blizzard has been doing the same thing for a while without problems.
This is a little different, it's like the difference between the iphone 1's "hold" and the iphone 3's multi-task.
"You can play games online or offline, it's up to you!"
It's sad that they actually have to say this nowadays.
what's sad is that you still have to pay $50 a year just to be able to fucking play multiplayer, which is like, you know, 70% of games nowadays
I love that first *
"may be required to play new games"
Thanks...
I don't defend the Xbox One on a lot of things, but are you being serious right now? The PS4 isn't out either, so saying IT ISN'T AN INNOVATION BECAUSE PS4 DOES IT TOO is kind of retarded.
But it's not innovative if something else has it? That's kinda the meaning of innovation.
doesn't pretty much every game on the PS3/360/Wii/WiiU already do this when you press the home button?
They seem to imply that you can pause at any moment, do something else like play another game or watch a movie, and then come back exactly to the point where you last left off. Like an emulator save state.
And don't say that because emulators did it first, this is a dumb addition. Otherwise, you're just finding ways to blindly hate the Xbox One, despite this being a genuinely good addition to it.
But it's not innovative if something else has it? That's kinda the meaning of innovation.
Are they plastering it as "NEVER BEFORE DONE" feature? No. They're just saying the Xbox One can do it.
[editline]7th September 2013[/editline]
With that train of logic, Samsung shouldn't have bothered trying make smart phones since Apple already did it. It's not innovative since my iPhone could do that.
"With the Xbox One, you can pause your gameplay, go run some errands, get back on your Xbox, and resume game with no hassle!"
Response:
WOW, LOL,P AUSE BUTTON? GOOD JOB MICROSHIT
[editline]7th September 2013[/editline]
"The PS4 lets you pause your game, go out, come home, and return to gameplay right there."
Response:
The PS4's gonna dominate, Xbox's got zero chance
So basically they're just polishing a turd and saying anyone using your gold membership account can access gold membership benefits :v:
I think they mean that any account linked to that Xbox One has access to Gold.
I think this is a really good feature. I don't like the Xbox One as much as the next guy but this is a good step in the right direction. More features that are actually focused on making things more convenient without actually disrupting or getting in the way of games being the focus.
...
EVERY console could do this.
Even if it's advertising multitasking, any console that can multitask can also pause games whilst doing so...
The Xbox 360 can multitask to an extent, but many games do not pause themselves when you bring up the guide overlay, and this is more like pausing the process altogether.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure the Ps4 doesn't advertise the pause button.
For the last fucking time, they're not advertising the pause button. They're advertising proper multitasking, which the previous generation either didn't do or didn't do very well.
Big whoop? I don't know about you, but when I'm playing games I don't pause to watch a fucking movie.
It's a good thing not everyone is you.
Pausing is extremly Next Gen.
doesn't pretty much every game on the PS3/360/Wii/WiiU already do this when you press the home button?

The Wii could pause during gameplay and do stuff like manage your controllers. The Wii U could do this and browse web and stuff too.
Not exactly. The only other console that can do this, or come close to doing this, is the Wii U. The Wii just allows controller management. Both the 360 and PS3 allow you to access the home menu but once you chose to open something else your game closes/shuts down.
The difference with the Wii U is that you can browse Miiverse, the web, and use the universal remote (or at least it use to since it didn't work when I tried the other night). But certain Wii U game won't let you access the home menu at all or won't let you access it at specific moments like loading or watching a cinematic. It seems like the Xbox One is able to alt tab like most people here are saying, and I have no clue if the PS4 can do it but I would imagine it could.
This ad is pretty important. I'm still meeting people that don't know about the DRM shift.
Overheard a couple of kids at school talking about how you "couldn't even turn on the new Xbox without it connected to the Internet"

I met someone at work today who thought it was very similar. It'll be an uphill battle, but I feel in the long run the Xbox One is going to be a pretty cool console.

It's going to be a pretty big up hill battle since once people heard of the whole online thing when it was first announced most of them stopped paying attention to the Xbox One.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure the Ps4 doesn't advertise the pause button.
we should have a mandatory multiple choice quiz before you can post in SH threads, because barely anybody reads the articles.
Big whoop? I don't know about you, but when I'm playing games I don't pause to watch a fucking movie.
I, I'm, I.
You're not the target demographic. Xbox isn't hand-crafting the system to cater to you, they're marketing features that other people want to use, too.
Actually, why are people bitching about this NFL and Skype and social shit, when the PS4 literally has a share button on the controller? Sure, the share button does much more than just open facebook but I'd expect facpunchers to get angry at that too judging by their reading comprehension.
"we designed xbox one to be your xbox one"
yeah okay.
"Play your games while downloading"

Tera did this, you just install from the beginning of the game to the end, it's a pretty smart thing to do when you are dealing with a pretty big download and you want to play it.
It's a shame that most Xbox One PR is just mopup for the shitstorm they generated when they announced it, but honestly MS have no one to blame but themselves.
Their own stupidity and fault.
Really, who the hell wanted a console with that much of a colossal fuck up like before?
"OH yes! Our customers will LOVE the restrictive things we've put on our console!"
It's going to be a pretty big up hill battle since once people heard of the whole online thing when it was first announced most of them stopped paying attention to the Xbox One.
Once it starts getting into people's homes it'll be significantly easier.

Playing the game while it downloads sounds pretty cool to me
Playing the game while it downloads sounds pretty cool to me
more games need to have this
the only games that really have play-while-you-install are mmos. mostly because, from what i can tell, the game's required engine and texture and model shit is installed first, and the shit you won't even be able to access until a higher level downloads while you play.
I don't defend the Xbox One on a lot of things, but are you being serious right now? The PS4 isn't out either, so saying IT ISN'T AN INNOVATION BECAUSE PS4 DOES IT TOO is kind of retarded.
You both seem to be missing that the PS3 was able to do this.
Not really since once you open something up the game you were playing closes/shuts down.
Not really since once you open something up the game you were playing closes/shuts down.
Depends on what you were doing. I can play music/browse the internet while I'm playing games.
Although it does lag like a motherfucker, it's there.
I tried it earlier today when playing a game to check college football scores, it closed Killzone and took me back to the main home screen when closing the browser.
