You guys are forgetting that people aren't going to be idiots and do incriminating things if someone has google glass on and refuses to take it off, regardless of whether or not the light is on...

Congrats, you understand the point now! People won't do bad things when they know they're being watched!
The camera light is probably hardware based
Then just cover it with tape or something
If they add a notification light, I'll just go onto XDA Developers and find an exploit that disables it. Not because I'm some creep motherfucker, but I think there are many legitimate reasons people should be recorded without their knowledge. Don't like it? Don't go outside into a public area.
is this you

Then it's obvious you're recording.
Then it's obvious you're recording.
Or you could just use an exploit/explicitly mod it so that light doesn't turn on.
You'd have to modify the hardware which would be very difficult.
Didn't they get a new designer for it a while back?

Last time something had a loud, useless speaker, I opened it up and stabbed it with a screwdriver :v:
should be a similar method
A little off-topic, but I wish people would stop doing the "99" crap and just give me straight up round numbers like "300".
I know it's some sort of subconscious way of making you think it's less expensive but first, nobody really falls for that (I hope) and second, it's just annoying.

You could simply just break the stupid little LED or whatever it is.
Between the good and possible bad of this device, I would wear it 24/7. It sure woul dbe nice to be able to tell a would be criminal that "your on candid camera, connected to the cloud even if you kill me and take it, the video is already on the internet"
Yeah there's the whole idea that they could spy on you, but hey it's not like they aren't already. I will be getting one of these devices as soon as I can afford it.
Woah 299, That's alot better.
I'm a Glass Explorer, I read some of these posts, There is no Light for the camera that goes off. The screen does pop on and people can see that if they look through the plastic cube. Also they have discussed prescriptions at release. Photos are great, Videos are great. The included Clear Lenses and Sunshades are worth 299$ alone. So this would be an awesome deal.
Actually have a huge Glass meetup happening at one of there offices this month, can't wait.
Any time the camera is active it turns on a very obvious light that anyone can see.
A piece of black tape solves that quite easily, or even a 5-minute hack if you're a hardware kinda person
People are going to be walking into traffic, off cliffs, etc.

What is the point of the clear lenses?

The Verge (Or Ars Technica, I forget) did a review where they basically said everything about Glass was abysmal. 3 hour battery life, can't see the screen in sunlight, the glasses themselves are unbalanced and uncomfortable, etc
How much of this has been fixed
i think i read somewhere that the current version of glass will not be the final retail product
Why would it? Glass v2 v3 v4 galaxy nexus andromeda!
Why would it? Glass v2 v3 v4 galaxy nexus andromeda!
I think he was referring to the explorer's version in regards to the camera light thing.
Too bad Glass doesn't fold up like normal glasses, yet. Defeats the purpose of glasses.

Well that's a real hype killer
What is the point of the clear lenses?
They look cool and if you have a job that needs some kind of shielding i guess?

You can't see the screen in the sunlight, That's literally a huge limitation that is hard to overcome. Unbalanced and Uncomfortable is completely wrong or has to be considered their opinion. It's completely weightless and I forget I'm wearing it all the time. Sounds like this person didn't give a chance for google to teach them how to bend the nose peices to have it set correctly and just ran off with it to do the review.
I don't know why people were expecting to be able to see it in bright sunlight, it's a projection after all.
I'd rather drop that money on a Rift.
I'm not doubting that android is outselling iOS devices(or that either is better than the other) but this is kind of like saying "Peanuts sold 80% better than macadamia nuts in supermarkets" It's not really a fair comparison considering price and hardware quality. Say what you want about apple(i probably won't disagree) but their hardware is top notch.
Wrong thread buddy
I wish google glass wouldn't just project a small screen on your glasses but display an entire overlay. Like it would help you navigate through streets by displaying arrows on it. Or it could display a movie on your glasses so you would feel like you were in a cinema while riding in a train.

isn't that why they provide sunshade lenses
Encounters with police, any type of authority, conversations that take place in business, while driving, during an accident (for insurance claims and whatnot). I mean it's great for everything.Imagine how people would act if they were being recorded 24/7 (while in a public space). Theft would go down, corruption within government roles would go down, fraud would go down, you'd have a record of everything and anything that occurred that day. What's wrong with that? It's considered a public place for a reason.
Like in russia where everybody got cameras in their car so they can prove who was driving the most drunk. Just imagine if everyone could record what ever they are doing all the time, this would generate so much lulz. Just like the video below.
