Anything can be art, you just need to be able to convince people that it is. So really artists should be getting marketing degrees.
anything can be art because, due to the nature of art, anything can become art. it has nothing to do with "fooling hipsters" or whichever lane on that road you wanna go down
I paid your Arts School tuition for four years and that is your masterpiece??

Yeah. Look at it. It's beautiful.

Get out of my house. Get your garbage out of my house and never come back. You are not my son and you are not in my will.
this really is a great piece of...um..."thought-provoking item arrangement" though. it makes you look at the concept of monetary value, and how abstract it is. it also allows you to see how easy a technical "multi-million dollar heist" can be. i know you guys pirate a shitload of things every day, but try to look at it from an average person's point of view.
anything can be art, this is how things have always been.
If someone came with a piece of ~modern art~ during Da Vinchi's age he would have been slapped in the face.
so a vast multimillion dollar project with hundreds upon hundreds of people working on it, like Transformers 3, is inherently superior to all movies with smaller crews?
Such as The Room?
If someone came with a piece of ~modern art~ during Da Vinchi's age he would have been slapped in the face.
this is a completely meaningless statement
A full list of the files with clickable download links can be found byvisiting this link. Fair warning: when I tried to open the PDF, it crashed my browser.
It's just 1 page.
Such as The Room?
The Room is art (and it was not a small-budget picture, it cost over 6 million dollars to make and had a fairly fleshed-out crew) [editline]24th August 2011[/editline]
If someone came with a piece of ~modern art~ during Da Vinchi's age he would have been slapped in the face.
so? (also that's partly because in european society paintings were supposed to be either functional (realistic portraiture) or religious back then)
If people are fascinated by a black external harddrive in a museum then that deeply saddens me.
If people are fascinated by a black external harddrive in a museum then that deeply saddens me.
ive lost faith in humanity!!!! get me off this wretched planet......
more recent artists who people love to defend as "real art" in their tirades against modern art in these sorts of thread, like van gogh wouldn't have been accepted back then either
People thought Van Gogh was a fucking joke back then. [editline]1[/editline] And his life sucked.
If someone came with a piece of ~modern art~ during Da Vinchi's age he would have been slapped in the face.
Your dumb because Da Vinci was making modern art back then
let's debate the artistic merit of this thread. i think it's a commentary on a community too deeply grounded in reality to have abstract thought on any level, which is kind of a brilliant ironic contrast to the fact that they regularly escape into fantasy worlds in the form of video games.
the Renaissance was new shit to them
I bet that The Thinker wasn't seen as a very good piece of art when it was made, either. "So what, it's just some naked faggot on a rock." But it's seen as one of the best pieces we have in museums today. So we should just give this exibit time.
I will stand by my opinion. I don't consider this art.
I will stand by my opinion. I don't consider this art.
i used it as a part of an intentional artistic statement it's art opinion overridden
If someone came with a piece of ~modern art~ during Da Vinchi's age he would have been slapped in the face.
why are you putting in ~'s around modern art exactly what am i supposed to infer from that
~s are less aggressive scare quotes
instead of doing dumb shit with quotes and tilde's how about you grow some balls and actually say what you mean guys so i don't have to shuffle through ~modern art~ and "art"
I will stand by my opinion. I don't consider this art.
well your opinion isn't a very good one
[t]http://i.imgur.com/IYrnt.jpg[/t] This is not a door. I will stand by my opinion.
doesn't matter if they intended it as art; if i or anyone else calls it art that means it's being interpreted as art and that what makes it art
fair enough, we can have different opinions on things :o)
[t]http://i.imgur.com/IYrnt.jpg[/t] This is not a door. I will stand by my opinion.
ceci n'est pas une porte
Arrest the maker of this for downloading all that illegal stuff.
if art is all based on interpretation can't you just say that you don't interpret it as art and it's entirely subjective on what is art and what isn't so this discussion is basically as objective as "who's better: bob dylan or tom petty?"
if art is all based on interpretation can't you just say that you don't interpret it as art and it's entirely subjective on what is art and what isn't
a work's quality is what's subjective, not necessarily it's status as art
There is no proof there is anything on that hard drive. It's not even plugged in. It could be empty, like he stopped on the way to the museum at WalMart and bought one.
