Not tied together. Muhammad used excuse during his initial phase to proselytize Jews and Christians, saying that he was the final messenger in Abrahamic trilogy. And it sort of worked.

Yeah, hence "Abrahamic religions". And Judaism and Islam are even closer to eachother, and yet their followers hate one another with passion.
Or India, or Eastern Europe.
Oh Dearie, you forgot a lot others.

even though the Jesus and the music was good, it's a very poor trilogy.
It's sad to know that I'll probably never see a day where religious violence is no longer an issue.

The Mist is a good example of how people resort to believe in one lunatic hag and almost end up sacrificing a child. It can happen anytime with just the right ingredient and circumstances.
I was waiting for word "islamophobe" to get popular around here.
There's no such thing. People who dislike Islam almost always have some reasons. And some Muslims being unpredictable is one of the most popular.
Edit:
I see dumbs down there, and have seen noDachi defending nonsense before, but anyone else care to actually voice their opinions?
when the reason is stupid or irrational it's a phobia.
when the reason is stupid or irrational it's a phobia.
So the unpredictability of Muslim extremists is a stupid/irrational reason, okay. And their culture being violent and oppressive (which is also popular) is stupid and irrational reason too.
So the unpredictability of Muslim extremists is a stupid/irrational reason, okay.
To hate all Muslims/Islam as a whole, yes it is.
I hate Islam for the same reason I hate Christianity, they're silly and archaic religions. But I don't hate it nor do I hate everyday Muslims because of the actions of a few.

No one does hate all Muslims because of actions of a few. Well, some might do, but that's psycopaths.

your phrasing is bad here then. a lot of people who hate Islam and Muslims do so solely based on the perception that they are all terrorists and hate America, and disliking Islam for that is irrational. i mean, read the comments on any online article that has anything to do with Islam and you'll see massive bigotry and idiocy. Islamaphobia is kind of a made up word but the concept is entirely real.
Using the stupid word 'islamophobe' doesn't give you the moral high ground.
Uh, Islamaphobia is a very real and problematic thing.

Are you seriously doubting the existence of Islamaphobia?
oh but your justification is the solid argument that "they always have some reasons"
Unpredictable? They're fucking people, not giraffes on a nature outing.
Oh yeah, forgot good old India, which is itself in a pre-historic era. But how are Muslims oppressed in Eastern Europe? Are they outlawed, or something? Are they forbidden of practicing their religion?
Are you seriously that oblivious to the obvious racism and general negative attitude towards them?
And lets also ignore the Bosniak Muslims who were slaughtered during the Bosnian war.
[editline]20th September 2012[/editline]
That's Bosnia, undeclared civil war, nothing to do with oppression of Muslims.
Even though 25,000 Bosnian Muslims were systematically killed, it had nothing to do with oppression of Muslims - fantastic point gudman. Don't you have a mosque to shoot up or something?
you're phrasing is bad here then. a lot of people who hate Islam and Muslims are solely based on the perception that they are all terrorists and hate America, and disliking Islam for that is irrational. i mean, read the comments on any online article that has anything to do with Islam and you'll see massive bigotry and idiocy. You might be right, I may have worded something wrong, happens with me being bad at English overall.
But I believe that people you describe don't actually think that Muslims are all terrorists and hate US of A. There's almost always an understanding that people are all diffirent. Like in your example - comments under the articles, most people just don't feel like wording their thoughts well, for example, differentiate common Muslims and extremist Muslims. So they just say something like "fuck muslims", when that's not always the case.
Though, if you are right - that must suck to live with that kind of false conception in your head, conception of an entire parts of the world that hate your guts.
words
Racism and general negative attitude is not equal to "oppression", it's just racism and general negative attitude. That's first.
Bosnian Muslims were systematically killed not because they were Muslims but because they a) were Bosnians, and that's your "common" racism and ethnic hatred; b) were viewed as separatists for wanting independence. That was a civil war, and has nothing to do with "oppression". That's second.
Oppression is when state policy forbids you from fulfilling your freedoms and rights as a human being, for example - prevents you from practicing your religion.

With this logic things like Racism and Homophobia don't exist either.
good old India, which is itself in a pre-historic era.
care to explain?
what exactly are they as an entire nation doing that is so pre-historic?
Struggling with poverty, fighting with Pakistan or pollution?

Yeah but what they did in the movie was wrong.
When giant bugs are attacking, it's viable to go a little insane during that time period.

More like not struggling with poverty and ancient religious superstitions.

If anything, they're trying to propel themselves forward from a bad standard of living.
Though, from what I hear, the government has a serious distaste towards Muslims and Bengalis, enough that they promote Hindu families having many children to outweigh the Muslim population, though I assume it's radically smaller than the Hindu population. Islamaphobia is goddamn everywhere.
With this logic things like Racism and Homophobia don't exist either.
Racism is term used to give a name to hatred based on ethnicity and origins. So if you hate some ethnicity, you hate every last one of it's members.
Homophobia is a term used to give a name to hatred based on sexual orientation. You hate gays, then you hate all of them.
So naturally, racism and homophobia actually do exist.

And still nothing's done to ensure effective birth control, witch is one of the main reasons India is struggling with povery since 50s with no visible effect.

Well Gandhi being against Pakistan being another country just because of Muslims has an air of kindness about it.
In that case, people created their own problems by doing that, and all the Hindu sites in Pakistan were pretty much destroyed.

Fucking hell, its not so absolute like that.
Why would you even think that it is? Your definitions are bullshit.
More like not struggling with poverty and ancient religious superstitions.
you have zero clue about what you're talking about.
Fucking hell, its not so absolute like that.

Yeah, because racism as a scientific (socio-historical) term generally means anything connected to "racial" views. But we're not talking about general meaning, but more along the lines of common usage, right?
Same with homophobia, but on that one my definition was much closer to general definition.
Racism is term used to give a name to hatred based on ethnicity and origins. So if you hate some ethnicity, you hate every last one of it's members.

Islamaphobia is a name given to people with a hatred of Muslims.
Okay, this is very easy to grasp gudman, I know you have trouble understanding things, but SURELY you can grasp this.

Good sir, may I present you a comprehensive report on the percentage of Hindus, Muslims and Christians upto 2001 ?
http://cpsindia.org/dl/religious/ppt-eng.pdf
And yet India manages to be the home for third largest Muslim population.
Technically Bengalis are Hindus, Muslims and other minorities.

Population rate is on decline from 1971 onwards.

There is much to poverty than merely a factor of high population.

It's so nice of you to insult me, but I'm still having my share of doubts on the legitimacy of this term existing. I have yet to see a term "christianophobia" or "atheophobia" (which, indeed, exists as a phenomenon).
You can't expect a Western-Christian homogeneous culture to be 'christianophoic'.
It's so nice of you to insult me, but I'm still having my share of doubts on the legitimacy of this term existing. I have yet to see a term "christianophobia" or "atheophobia" (which, indeed, exists as a phenomenon).
Even if you disagree with the term, the concept is real.

That's an interesting read, thanks for sharing. I kind of underestimated the efficiency of their family management programs, it really does look very sufficent.
I do perfectly acknowledge the fact that there're actually a lot more to poverty than just hight population, but latter is still a very large and important factor.
You can't expect a Western-Christian homogeneous culture to be 'christianophoic'.
But I see it being "atheophobic", and yet no such term exists. And also I can expect Islamic and Hindu culture to be "christianophobic", for example.
Even if you disagree with the term, the concept is real.
Concept of people hating all Muslims? No it is not. Everyone has his "common normal Muslim that I don't hate".
More like "islamist-o-phobia" that would be proper term and concept.
It's so nice of you to insult me, but I'm still having my share of doubts on the legitimacy of this term existing. I have yet to see a term "christianophobia" or "atheophobia" (which, indeed, exists as a phenomenon).
Okay, so we point out western racism and overwhelming negativity, eastern GENOCIDE, massacres, racism and overwhelming negativity while living in a worldscape that promotes stereotypes and hatred of Muslims.
But Islamaphobia doesn't exist.
I really love your fucked up logic, gudman:
"I hate black people" - Racist and means all black people
"I hate gay people" - Homophobic and means all gays.
"I hate Muslims" - Not Islamaphobic and does not mean all Muslims
