Yeah, too bad it only shows temperatures in the last 120 years. That's like a microsecond in the worlds history. What about thousands of years ago? Do we know if there were temperatures spikes before? Maybe it's just a repeating pattern?

Global warming is the wrong term for this. It's global climate change and it happens in a cycle, look up your history and you will see the planet cycles between periods of dramatic weather changes. It happens, people are just making too much a big deal of it.
So basically each year is going to get hotter and hotter?
Started recording accurately in 1971?
I thought they had records going back to 1890 [editline]16th January 2011[/editline]
Yeah, too bad it only shows temperatures in the last 120 years. Global warming is a hoax I can see snow outside my window man it's a cycle man
Global warming is a hoax I can see snow outside my window man it's a cycle man
Global warming is a hoax, just like the Nukes in Iraq Instead we get climate change, while we get old chemical weapons from the 1980s buried in the desert in Iraq 2 completely different things then the proponents had us expecting just a couple of years before

Yeah but zeke that is why they use the term climate change, so people like broseph don't get confused.
Yeah but zeke that is why they use the term climate change, so people like broseph don't get confused.
But they'd still get confused "Hurr durr the climate isn't changing to tropical or anything hurr hoax".

Hence 'global'. Global warming is a completely fine term. This silly argument over semantics doesn't change the fact that it's happening and that it will be a severe problem.
I don't think this will be a problem. On one side of the argument, if the climate keeps going up, human technology can somehow counteract it in the future. On the other side, we are safe.

I live in Texas, I for one will welcome the snow in the winter, and it isn't like I'll notice it getting hotter in the summer since it's already hot as hell I mean for fuck sakes, how hard will it be for those in the South United States and Central Europe to learn how to handle the colder winters from the Scandinavians and New Englanders, and them vice versa with how to deal with the heat? It seems rather pointless wasting trillions of dollars on some bullshit that even in the best projections will only lead to our children having temperatures that are 1 Celsius less than if we did nothing, then actually spend it on something that has effect now, like spending it to end malaria and world hunger

The monsoon season will be neigh unpredictable. Bangladesh and the Ganjes delta will flood, killing or standing millions. Developing countries will be hit by massive famines on a huge scale. 35% of species in Australia and Amazonia will go extinct. Rainfall and weather patterns the world over will change. It won't be too bad for us lucky ones in the Industrialized world, but the people within the developing world will be the ones to bear the price. As it always is with this type of thing.

Huh, I guess when all those girls said "You look hot", they meant it literally. :sigh: :crying:
I blame volcanoes.

Malaria is easily treatable, monsoons are unstoppable, we can build dikes on the Ganjes delta, famines can be prevented, and extinction is just evolution at work So explain to me how diverting trillions that can be used to eradicate malaria like polio and building dikes on the Ganjes delta like the Netherlands, to be spend on technology with negligible impact on climate change, doing anyone any good? Remember, One Degree Celsius, if we did everything we could overnight and have it set up and going tomorrow
2010-2011's winter seems to be the coldest on record. Hawaii got snowfall even, for example. Climate change probably is happening, but if it is, it's a cycle, not because of us. This stuff happens all the time throughout history. In the Creataceous era, it was much, much hotter than today, and that was without any human actions at all. In the 1970s in the winter, some areas in the US experienced a massive heatwave: one city near where I lived had about 90 degree temperatures, DURING JANUARY. It's a cycle, if it is happening. Or, possibly, since many scientists suggest that our sun is growing larger, it could be that (screenshots of Mars have shown their ice caps are rapidly melting as well, faster than ours). There's a million more things it could be besides human emissions. [editline]16th January 2011[/editline]
I blame volcanoes.
Scientists have actually measured the CO2 emissions, on average, of a volcano eruption. It's about 2x what all of humanity produces in a year.

One degree is the least we can get it to, realistically. Malaria is hard to treat in the developing world, who will suffer. Monsoons are currently very predictable, this a farmer in southeast Asia knows when to plant his crops. With the changes in deepwater circulation and the monsoons that would occur, they would become unpredictable and vastly decrease crop yields do an unacceptable degree. We can't just build dikes on the Ganges because it's fucking massive and is already at 3 metres above sea level, there's no way to just "deal with it". But the developing world can't handle these changes.
Bullshit, it's cold as tits in minnesota.
Not really. I've been living in Minnesota since 2004 or so, and I've faced much more colder years. This year was one of the warmest here IMO; it didn't get super cold until late Fall, where as the year before that got cold around the end of summer. Plus I call bullshit. When you live in Minnesota EVERY year will be cold as tits.
