"Hatred" is a genocide simulator developed by Neo-Nazis

i'm all for "it's just a game". seriously, they could go all the way and get this game banned in several countries and as long as it's still a game in the sense that there's a challenge, and not just " kill anybody you want", I would still say that
though hatred as a game would benefit from a more interesting character, that just isn't AFAIK "I hate everyone; everyone should die"
point is, i don't care how creepy/disturbing it is, but how is it as a game in terms of gameplay and story?
Unless it gets published by legit distributor/s(which I really doubt) how can it even get banned anywhere? Will countries block their citizens from going to dev's website to buy it or what?

i don't know the banning process myself but i could imagine it could easily be banned on online stores like Steam as well as in physical stores. not sure about developer websites though

If it's sold on Steam then some countries can block it, and you'd have to use a VPN which can be illegal depending where you live.
Looks like a well crafted, top down arcade shooter with no plot and an over the top nihilist metal theme.
I'd play it.

That's what irks me the most. It looks really well made, but then it's wasted on being so over-the-top edgy that it just looks like a joke.
A really angry joke.
And how exactly is this a fascist or white supremacist game? One member is an anti-communist - is there something bad in this, especially considering the horrible thing the soviets did in Katyn in 1939? Or the soviet-polish war of the 1920s? The second one is anti-Immigration - so what? Why is this fascism?

I can laugh at this game's edgyness just like I laughed at The Room's romance.

You can make it illegal to own, or purchase, or distribute, without actually preventing anyone from getting it.

Steam also prohibits the use of VPNs for circumventing country restrictions, it might get your account banned. Store account ban, not VAC, so all your games will be gone.
Why ban it?

Combine the two and you get a beautiful thing
"You're tearing me apart world!"
I honestly can't justify playing this game. Like, this game could have the greatest game play and have no serious competition for the tile for decades and I wouldn't play it. I just couldn't sit easy playing it, it'd be kind of sickening really. And I played that school shooting flash game gun-control propaganda thing when it was a hot topic and didn't really feel that disgusted by the idea of it. Probably because it didn't glorify the idea like this does, idk.
It doesn't even look that gory.
Is everyone buttmad because it's black and white and stars a Nathan Explosion clone who probably shops at hot topic and is FAD UP WIT DIS WARL?
I am not going to properly judge the game until I see more gameplay and see the amount of content the game offers.
From the trailer though it actually looked quite cool, the art style, isometric camera angle, destructible environments.
It's just on one edge of an extreme, I don't mind playing it because of that. I will probably get told I am an "edgy 14 year old who listens to Linken Park" for doing so though.
Even if it's not intended to be ironic by the developers themselves I can already spot the humor of the whole thing myself just from the reaction it's giving people. I will give it the time of day just because of that.

Glad someone else was thinking of Tommy Wiseau when I saw the trailer lol.
If you want to lash out and play as a bad guy who just kills people because he's a fucking cunt who's ready to do anything to get to his goal, you might as well play Prototype.
If you want to hurt people upclose and personal, you might as well play Hotline Miami.
If you want to see over the top gore and violence, you might as well play Soldier of Fortune 2.

Soldier of Fortune 2 is garbage, just go back and play it. That jungle level is so goddamn awful.
I would wait for Killing Floor 2 to trump everything else in terms of gore.
So are you saying just because this game is edgy it has no inherent merits within it's own basic gameplay? The defending argument here for me at least is that from the gameplay trailer it looked fun despite the ultimate edge. I am not playing it because of the edge but because it looks like it might be fun.

Afaik being anti-communist in Poland is more common than not.

I'd like to hear from anyone who thinks that this game should be banned and not just criticized/condemned.

Looks like every other topdown twin-stick shooter ever made.

videogames are over
we got all the bases covered
If nothing else, I like how the "protagonist" of the game actually looks like a mass shooter, a freak with long greasy hair and a slimy looking trench coat, i guess an origin story where he becomes too edgy for his own good after getting stuffed in his locker with a wedgie one to many times is too much to hope for? .
Please name all the mass shooters that you can think of that look like you just described

if you want an actually ok isometric shooter, play something from sigma team.

My point is there are a lot of really good games that do exactly what this game pretends to be the only one to do.
The game looks questionable as all get out, but hating communists isn't racist, and islamophobia has been twisted so badly the past several years, that even expressing displeasure with a group of jihadists running around raping and beheading people has been labeled islamophobic. The article feels like it's stretching things when pointing out the gameplay mechanics should be enough to properly criticize it and the creators.
Can somebody tell me what's the difference for real between this and any GTA? You can just do the same, literally: stock up on weapons and start killing people. And don't tell me "But GTA is satire" because while it clearly is, most of the satire of the game comes out from scripted characters and missions, and not random NPCs, which are just going to scream and escape while you kill them. I could literally play GTA like if I were playing Hatred and not see a bit of the game's satire.
Anyway, I didn't like watching the video, but I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with the game, especially since the video doesn't really show anything but the controversy, which is admittedly a smart move from the developers. Logically, the random killing of harmless civilians is only going to be the very first minutes of gameplay, because the police (and possibly the army, like in GTA?) are going to show up and stop you. If it weren't the case, I'd argue against the game not because "yuo kill ppl in it" but because a game without challenge and without a plot, where you just do the same thing, is stupid, controversy or not.
Also I don't see how this "celebrates" or "glorifies" (these words get thrown around so easily these days) mass murder. A basic rule of fiction is that you can find enterentaining people doing bad things, that's why we like villains and antiheroes.
Also I don't think you need any context to do things in videogames, you just do things because they are fun (they are inherently challenging) and because the game's rules tell you to do so. Otherwise, I couldn't enjoy playing Tetris, since why the fuck would I pile up blocks if the game didn't tell me to do so by giving me a set of rules?
