I'm saying that there's no use debating when everything has already been said by different people. This will also prevent crazies like the Aurora Shooter who actually did purchase their guns legally. In a way, it's like internet piracy. You don't fight back by placing restrictions that only serve to hurt the innocent people while having no effect on the bad guys, you have to give the bad guys less of a reason to do the shit they do so they eventually stop doing that shit themselves. Unfortunately, to do all this would require a LOT of time and money, and nobody would be willing to pay, which is the worst thing about all this. Everyone wants things to be better, but they don't want to pay for it. They expect things to get better because they want it to get better without realizing how expensive and time-consuming it would be. And if they DO realize they'll immediately demand that a better, cheaper, quicker way is discovered, which is why people think that simply banning the sale of firearms will make everything better instantaneously. But if you want something to argue about, I'll just restate what I said when I first came here:[/QUOTE] wow thanks it only took you an hour to start posting something remotely relevant to the thread jesus christ a. nobody is saying guns should be banned outright. citizens will still be armed just after a psych evaluation, some firearms safety training, registration and a short waiting period to prevent crimes of passion. if you're worried that because you don't have an assault weapon and a criminal does, i can only wonder what scenario you imagine yourself fighting a criminal in that would require you have an assault weapon instead of a pistol. i'm pretty sure if someone is pointing a gun at you, whether it's a pistol or assault weapon doesn't make much of a difference, and neither does the weapon you're pointing at them. the only difference is that one makes it significantly easier to perform a massacre rather than a shooting, which is why it's on the chopping block in terms of banning and restriction b. sorry but no matter what you do people will always be desperate and willing to commit crimes. i'm all for trying to give criminals less motive to commit a crime but first i think getting rid of their tools is a good step forward. c. "remember, most criminals don't acquire their weapons through legitimate means", need a source on that everything you just quoted is wishful thinking and does nothing to provide any actual solution to the issue. it's just happy wordplay that carefully avoids any legitimate restrictions on your favorite hobby.
