We are not moderating. This thread came to a standstill when we agreed to disagree, and left it at that. And I don't think we need you making personal attacks against the people who disagree with your inability to call it a day. I am politely asking you to drop it. You are taking this to heart way too much.
uh no, you decided you and xeno and redoob or w/e were done, so feel free to leave
anyone else can keep discussing it, sorry dude
It did? How? Can you give proof of this?
notice how before the firearms control act there was a massive upwards trend in the murder rate. immediately after the control act was passed, murders dropped close to 1969 levels and from the years of 1976 to 1983, the average murder rate was 29.5, 8.8 (per 100k) murders less than there were a year before the Act was passed. graph runs from 1960 to 1983 to show you as much time as possible before and after the Act was passed, while excluding the period in which the Crack Epidemic took place which caused a significant spike in crime.

Personal attacks are not going to help your case. And we've had enough discussion for this thread. Wait until the next one, where this will all inevitably start up again. Don't worry, you'll get your chance.
If you don't like discussions in a discussion forum, you can fuck off.

There is a difference between discussion and what most of Kopimi's "arguments" have devolved into.
It did? How? Can you give proof of this?
This was proven earlier in the thread.
Please, just let it go.
Oh my god shut the fuck up.
If you don't like discussions in a discussion forum, you can fuck off.
Yet you instantly tell him to fuck off.
If you don't like discussions in a discussion forum, you can fuck off.
But all the points that could be made have already been made. You're just going to have a repeat of the last 16 pages.
There is a difference between discussion and what most of Kopimi's "arguments" have devolved into.
feel free to prove me wrong, hopefully you don't burst a blood vessel from the stress of an online confrontation
I missed the last fifteen pages so this may have been answered, but do we have other sources? I'm always suspicious if I see a story coming from only a single source, especially if it isn't a source I recognize.

Oh here we go. I swear you're like the personification of Fraggle Rock.
Xenomoose is right. If we just keep on making the same points over and over again, this thread will become a total shitstorm of people getting pissed off at each other and hurling around insults instead of having a reasonable conversation.

Saying that someone who has been discussing for the past 16 pages is afraid of discussion. Because that totally makes sense.

my mind is blown by the fact that you're sitting here F5ing and whenever someone continues posting you just reply "please.. plEAASE STOP THIS MADNESS... STOP PLEASE"
was your family raped by the captain of a debate team or something

I don't burst from stress. But most of what your are trying to say is usually accompanied by a personal attack of some kind to someone, and that is not how to have a discussion.

Fine, let it get to that.

i think the graph about washington DC's crime rate was p much devoid of personal attacks (ya big baby)

If there's a legit argument next to a personal attack, I don't see the problem. It may make Ownederd stand out on a ledge somewhere, but still, pay attention the content and ignore the attack.

I can take a joke. However, I much prefer to have an intelligent conversation than a petty argument involving Logical Fallacies. It does not help his case, and it is rather annoying how he fails to try and improve his behavior.

I repeat again, it totally makes sense to say that someone who's already been discussing for the past 16 pages is afraid of debating. I'm saying that there's no use debating when everything has already been said by different people. But if you want something to argue about, I'll just restate what I said when I first came here:
If you want to decrease the amount of firearms-related crimes, the LAST thing you do is go after the legitimate suppliers. If you do that first, not only does that leave innocent citizens defenseless, it gives criminals the motivation to commit more crimes because nobody can defend themselves anymore. No, instead of that, the first thing you do is give criminals less reasons to commit crimes. Most crimes are crimes of desperation, the criminal needs something that they, for some reason (usually poverty), cannot gain through legitimate means. If you decrease their need for these things, then they won't need to commit crimes, and therefore decreases their need to acquire firearms to aid in committing these crimes. That weakens the illegal gun suppliers (remember, most criminals don't acquire their weapons through legitimate means) to the point where they can be driven away so they can't sell any more guns. THAT'S when you start putting restrictions and shit on the legitimate suppliers, since civilians have less of a need to carry a gun for self-defense (since crime rates have lowered and now they feel safer). This will also prevent crazies like the Aurora Shooter who actually did purchase their guns legally. In a way, it's like internet piracy. You don't fight back by placing restrictions that only serve to hurt the innocent people while having no effect on the bad guys, you have to give the bad guys less of a reason to do the shit they do so they eventually stop doing that shit themselves.
Unfortunately, to do all this would require a LOT of time and money, and nobody would be willing to pay, which is the worst thing about all this. Everyone wants things to be better, but they don't want to pay for it. They expect things to get better because they want it to get better without realizing how expensive and time-consuming it would be. And if they DO realize they'll immediately demand that a better, cheaper, quicker way is discovered, which is why people think that simply banning the sale of firearms will make everything better instantaneously. I do pay attention to the content.
I think I'm just going to sit back and watch the inevitable fireworks.

Thank you sir. I can't help but notice the Washington Post says Obama isn't interested in a gun ban and wants to explore alternate options first, has that come up in the discussion(s) yet?
what are you saying dude
You get all depressed whenever someone is even remotely ~rude~
I like to imagine while you're giving your winded posts about how it's not nice to be rude you just keep pulling the trigger and nothing happens; then you just break down into tears and curl up into a ball.

all this coming from the dude that refuses to do anything but continue asking people to stop posting in an online forum

wow thanks it only took you an hour to start posting something remotely relevant to the thread jesus christ
a. nobody is saying guns should be banned outright. citizens will still be armed just after a psych evaluation, some firearms safety training, registration and a short waiting period to prevent crimes of passion. if you're worried that because you don't have an assault weapon and a criminal does, i can only wonder what scenario you imagine yourself fighting a criminal in that would require you have an assault weapon instead of a pistol. i'm pretty sure if someone is pointing a gun at you, whether it's a pistol or assault weapon doesn't make much of a difference, and neither does the weapon you're pointing at them. the only difference is that one makes it significantly easier to perform a massacre rather than a shooting, which is why it's on the chopping block in terms of banning and restriction
b. sorry but no matter what you do people will always be desperate and willing to commit crimes. i'm all for trying to give criminals less motive to commit a crime but first i think getting rid of their tools is a good step forward.
c. "remember, most criminals don't acquire their weapons through legitimate means", need a source on that
everything you just quoted is wishful thinking and does nothing to provide any actual solution to the issue. it's just happy wordplay that carefully avoids any legitimate restrictions on your favorite hobby.

That is a good point. Wasn't there another thread where Obama said "Gun Politics is Bad Politics"?

A little bit late there, man. Someone mentioned new content, I'm ready for new discussion.
