Grab for Attention or Legitimate Story line? Glee depicts School Shooting.

My So-Called Life had an episode about a gun discharging in a school. Like every other episode of that show, it was fucking amazingly written.

The only show I can think of with a school shooting storyline that didn't come off as fake, attention-seeking, insincere crap was American Horror Story. They did it because, duh, it's fucking horrifying. Which is what shootings are; brutal and pant-shittingly terrifying situations, not excuses for the writers to do a bottle episode.

I'm not defending Glee or anything, but wasn't there a BBC miniseries released this year that depicted a school shooting as well? And it was pretty much unanimously praised by facepunch.

Channel 4 series, actually. And it was handled in a significantly better way than the mess Glee came out with.

Well at least that actually seemed central to the plot and was handled tastefully, whereas I doubt this will ever be brought up in the plot again
