A lot of people are like that, from what I've seen.

Fixed that for you.
I wouldn't doubt it, they must have no shortage of people to test on.
makes me wonder how they got a hold of smallpox.
makes me wonder how they got a hold of smallpox.
Best case scenario, someone there caught something that is similar, like cowpox.
But then again I know jack shit about viruses other than smallpox can really fuck shit up.
Yup, NK totally is gonna kill everyone...
The same guys who would probably get nuked by every nation on Earth...

Short version? USSR broke down, a lot of guns and shit entered the black market.
They will not do anything like this.

Bloodlust is just American? The more you know.

I don't think you understand the problem. If they have anything like this, they could have already started the infection and you won't know until its an epidemic.

I understand the harty-har-har with their nukes and their silly threats, but this isn't silly.
i thought smallpox was supposed to be extinct
i thought smallpox was supposed to be extinct
It is, but microscopic things can hide anywhere. That's why you hear about things every now and then that people have found that may have the bubonic plague on them.

During the cold war both the pig-dog capitalists U.S. and the Glorious U.S.S.R produced and weaponized the small pox virus in case the other side started bio-warfare. The agents were produced in mass and in Russia's case, poorly protected. The U.S. has mostly diffused any remaining samples and containers carrying the virus, however Russia's stockpiles were abandoned left and right and I think a few of the production facilities were in former Comm-Bloc countries , so it isn't far beyond possibility for a rouge nation to obtain small pox from an old stockpile or maybe a side deal with a developing nation.
Fuck, Someone link me to the facepunch gas mask thread >.>

Oh yeah, because other countries are just as tame as a cute little puppy and haven't done anything bad or been in any war before.
Germany? They just had a pillow fight with France and England and then gave nice showers to all the Jewish people of Europe.
Japan? Had a wonderful parade in Nanking with confetti and steamers.
and England? Oh they just had a nice cup of tea with those African Tribes.
North Korea is a biological substance.
Wasn't there an article about a month ago about a smallpox vial that went missing from the CDC or something?
This is troubling, although I'm not entirely convinced that they would be that brazen.
LOL NK is really trying hard to spook us
Let's keep reenacting the Cold War and bring back McCarthyism while we're at it... It worked well last time.
I'm sick of all of these political tensions and dick waving and fear-mongering.

Communist sympathizer, blacklist! Blacklist!
Wasn't there a big argument a year or two ago about whether or not scientists and researchers should destroy the last known samples of smallpox they had. I know one of the argument for keeping them was so that, if something like this ever happened, they had samples readily available to work with and develop cures from or make any necessary changes to for study. Whatever happened to that?

Well lets just hope they didn't steal the last sample.
its time to go get my M10M gas mask out

I'm starting to get real pissed with people joking about this whole situation. I mean, think about it:
They're probably just as hesitant to ACTUALLY go to war as we are. If something were to kick off, you could expect literally hundreds of thousands of fatalities and millions of casualties. Eventually the North Korean government would fold in on itself and the United States/South Korea would push up to the Chinese border. That being said the cost of repairing the damage to South Korea and attempting to feed all of North Korea (with almost non-existent infrustructure) would cost the United States, South Korea and the international community billions, bordering on TRILLIONS of dollars in the long run.
It's insane to think about the amount of damage a war in Korea could cause, and if NK let off a nuke? It would make Chernobyl look like a goddamn kindergarten playground. The fallout would waft across the sea of Japan and across the Chinese border, and who KNOWS what would happen at that point. Biological weapons are an even-more terrifying point simply because if the North Koreans started spreading smallpox without our knowledge or without us being prepared for it, that shit would RIP through us like nothing else.
We simply don't have the ability to produce that many vaccines in such a short amount of time, and China would be hit the hardest. If you think producing vaccines for 300M people is difficult, think about the sheer magnitude of making them for over a billion people. It would make "Contagion" look like a joke.

Goddamnit, now I'm all jittery. This shit gets me genuinely nervous and paranoid. None of this strikes me as a laughing matter.
Someone should post a link to the pdf of The Eyes of the Tailless Animals, I distinctly remember the defector saying she witnessed prisoners having biological poisons tested on them. It was in the cabbage, which was especially screwed up considering the fact that they were underfed nothing but rice in the gulags.
LOL NK is really trying hard to spook us
No, it's the media trying to spook you. It's all speculation, but of course it could be true. But right now we don't know.
To keep it short: They are not in the Chemical Weapons Convention, but they are in the Biological Weapons Convention (as in they agreed not to use viruses as weapons). But since it's pretty much the world against them we don't know if they wanna keep that promise.
Also, this is a list of countries that are definetely not in the biological weapons convention
