Thats what I dont actually understand about this whole thing. People are throwing ridiculous amounts of money after watching a stupid feelgood video and they dont even know where their money is going.
IC is just like any other aid charity except they are using the whole Kony thing to garner attention and donations, and its working.
Throwing money at Africa's problems will, never, ever solve them. Why people don't seem to remember this lesson is beyond me.
It's nice that they at least acknowledge that they're funding some shady characters, but they haven't stopped to wonder what will happen to the military force they're buying once Kony is done with. And given what's happened with every other African nation where military funding has been purchased, they'll go right back to square 1 when someone else picks up where Kony left off.
when i heard that people were donating to this charity, i was stunned - do you even know who you are donating too? or where the money is going.. >.<

I was close to donating $10 or something. Luckily, I was smart enough to look around a bit since they have gained so much attention lately. Saved myself $10.
They are still doing something good though. Raising awareness about Kony and all. But donating won't help, or so it seems.
It definitely feels like people getting involved with this whole campaign naively believe world leaders actually give much of a shit about what people say on twitter. Its nice that people are taking an interest in these problems but is does irritate me that people only seem to give a shit when there's some feelgood viral video and twitter campaign associated with it.
Does anyone have a source for Invisible Children funding the Ugandan Military? Other than that tumblr post.

Bunch of useful links in here http://visiblechildren.tumblr.com/
The Ugandan govt. would at least provide stability. Africa is a hellhole already, but the IC by funding them is still preventing a lot of suffering
It's not an ideal situation, but it does much more good than harm in my opinion. Even if that means funding a lesser evil.
The Ugandan Govt are almost as bad as Kony himself.
where was the link that talked about how violence in uganda is at the lowest level since 1983, and that kony might be dead right now?
Nice scam. No point in donating unless you're ok with giving your money for god knows what
