And so are you, Sigma-Lambda. you are no more informed than I am. You just have a different set of information than what I have.
According to your article
...but many are submitting counterfeit, borrowed or fradulently obtained cards.
I'd have to imagine that this puts a strain on Canada's health care system, and it looks like it is.
Loopholes and the lack of stringent controls are costing the provincial health care system as much as $691 million a year, the Ontario report found.
It looks like now that because of people from the US going to Canada for the free healthcare that they may have to start rationing to control costs. The article doesn't say this, but what would you do?
From the looks of that article, Canada is in need of reform too.
"We've lost 5,000 hospital beds in the last two years," he (Jim Wilson) said. "There are ever-increasing waiting lists for cancer treatment. There is a health care crisis in Ontario, and the public has very little patience for Americans or others not entitled to use our health system clogging up our services."
And in the US, Obama, Biden, Pelosi, and Reid want to push health care through by using Reconciliation. To my understanding, Reconciliation was meant for use on budgets, not healthcare bills.
At least we don't have to present a card here when we need health care, that is unless we want our insurance to pay most of the bill.
Edit: I just finished reading the article and it dates back to 1993 when Clinton was trying to do the same thing. The article is still valid I believe, but the situitation has to be worse in Canada now than it was in 93.
At least the Canadian system actually works.
You have no idea how shitty our hospitals are around here. I can't speak for all of Canada but in my region of Ontario the hospitals will have you wait, no matter what your illness is for hours upon hours. If you are profusely bleeding they will bandage it and ignore you for 6 hours in which time the wound could heal on it's own or you could bleed to death. The only way you can guarantee immediate treatment is to call an ambulance and go in through emergency. It costs about 50 bucks, but it'll save your life.

Yeah yeah it's not like you can do something if you have a gallon of blood over you.

yes #30 in health care quality will let you bleed to death while #37 won't.

Yeah, they'll make you wait, because you aren't alone, but they'll still treat you to the point necessary to keep you going until they can complete it later.
Oh, and yeah, like everyone has said thus far, Danny Williams is a rich son of a bitch. Instead of waiting several days/weeks for his treatment on a waiting list, as not a lot of Canadian hospitals do said treatment, he decided to shell out millions of bucks to get it done instantly and get back into his rather absurd (Yet awesome) political game quicker. If he wanted it to get done here even then, it would have been completely free. By the by, although I have no proving statistics, I know for fact, through friends who are indeed doctors, that a lot of Canadian medical practitioners get "bought out" by the States. You can work long hours, seven days a week in Canada. Or you could go State-side and make the same value, or more, at 1/4 of the work.

No, facts aren't subjective. You don't know the facts.

Yes, seeing as the central government doesn't prescribe exactly how to implement universal health care.
So enlighten me, and use the most up to date sources you can find. This is the news section after all.
Oh, and check some of those "right wing" sites too.
itt; rich kids who think everyone else can afford private healthcare like them

Quality aside, the issue is that there are millions of Americans who cannot afford healthcare. You may be a privledged white kid who can afford all the health insurance you need, but many, many people can't, and they are suffering. And don't give me those bullshit numbers about how so many of the uninsured are teenagers who think they're invincible and people transferring insurance, those numbers have no basis in reality. Rush Limbaugh pulled them out of his drug-addled ass
Canada lost at hockey.
I don't think anything else is really necessary to put Canada down.
i don't even know why I'm bothering to argue with this conservative furry. I'm wasting my time, he's totally impenetrable to reason

I mean you're a social conservative furry. There is literally no way to be filled with more cognitive dissonance. I mean a person could be a neo-luddite who collects Kraftwerk albums and have more consistency in their ideology than you
The US doesn't even like hockey.
It's like our team just woke up one day like "those canadian sons of bitches are going down."

It's not Ad Homenim, I'm criticizing how his personal lifestyle and ideology are contradictory.
Jesus don't get your fursuit all up in a bunch
You're also one to accuse/assume quickly, but that's just my opinion. Take that as you will.

Yeah look at that flag its pathetic its a perfect size replica of their island.
Fucking fox news.
Or if you have insurance from a job, which most people have.
No, insurance will simply find an excuse to drop your coverage if you file a claim for the kind of care this guy was receiving. Plebs like us don't get access to the same level of quality that multimillionaire national leaders paying out of pocket command.
This has no bearing on Canadian/American healthcare differences at all. If you think the upper upper class is going to be rubbing elbows with the people the state covers, you're hopelessly naive.

That's never happened around here, maybe it's just the fact ontario is a piece of shit? All our Hospitals around here are just fine, nothing amazing, but just fine as it is.

I live in a little backwater city of 6000 people, hundreds of miles from anything larger, and our hospital is fantastic. They're always buying new MRIs n' shit.
Their new ambulances wouldn't fit up the ramp so they tore the front of the building off and built a huge elevator for them.

:downs:
Halifax has awesome healthcare. We have have over 2 blocks of hospital in our city, excluding the private clinics. I have never had a problem with the healthcare. I have gotten stitches 2 times, once in my leg, and once on my lip, minimal waiting times.
