"Founding fathers" That was hundreds of years ago, what should that have to do with anything now?
"Founding fathers" That was hundred of years ago, what should that have to do with anything now?
Because the Founding Fathers(bless their honors souls) were personally christened by Jesus, as was this glorious country(bless the creator and his son), and as such could do no wrong(pity the heretic who thinks otherwise!).
can all old people just die already

Religion should have NOTHING to do with education.
Only thing I want even close to it is all of the major world religions being taught about in school, just like, what their beliefs are and everything. I don't see much wrong with that, lets you get on a level with opposite beliefs since you know what they're about.
Oh for fucks sake. Can it Gingrich, and read the Treaty of Tripoli.
As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.
This treaty was written and supported by the leaders of the US at the time (this was barely 15 years after the revolution). The people who supported separation of church and state in this treaty ARE THE FOUNDING FATHERS, now promptly retire before you disgrace our nation even worse.
Ugh
Curious question: Who do you support among the 2012 GOP crop? Even looking at it from a non-liberal standpoint there's a hell of a lot of losers in there (Trump, Gingrich, Palin, Huckabee, Santorum)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Tripoli Treaty of Tripoli, motherfuckers.
You'd think politicians would brush up on their history but that would require effort and knowledge, something politicians lack
The creator the founding fathers was talking about was Odin
that might be possible if there weren't thousands of denominations of Christianity which would vehemently disagree with any particular view of their religion
Haha, that is true though.. You can pretty much center it around a certain set of beliefs that most of them agree on, I guess.
Haha, that is true though.. You can pretty much center it around a certain set of beliefs that most of them agree on, I guess.
What, that America is perfect and if you dislike it you're a communist?
that might be possible if there weren't thousands of denominations of Christianity which would vehemently disagree with any particular view of their religion
we already teach about the world religions in history class, there's no "might be possible" about it.
What, that America is perfect and if you dislike it you're a communist?
Well if that's what you think all Christians are like I'm not gonna press it anymore, no point.
we already teach about the world religions in history class, there's no "might be possible" about it.
yes my friend, i know it is dire straights. luckily the glorious christian right is at this very moment working on correcting the way that they're seen in the classroom.
[img_thumb]http://politicsinminnesota.com/blog/2010/09/files/2010/09/newt-gingrich.jpg[/img_thumb] Actually, you know what, nevermind.
Immediately what I thought of when I looked at that picture.
You'd think politicians would brush up on their history but that would require effort and knowledge, something politicians lack
I think it's a mix of that and cherry-picking. They'll jump all over the word "Creator", but then miss that whole "First Amendment" thing. Or they'll claim that we don't actually have separation of church and state, as if "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" wasn't clear enough. They also miss the description of the first amendment, by one of the guys who wrote it no less, stating that it effectively creates a separation of church and state. What do they do when they eventually do deal with the guy? Why, they write him out of the curriculum, of course.
Curious question: Who do you support among the 2012 GOP crop? Even looking at it from a non-liberal standpoint there's a hell of a lot of losers in there (Trump, Gingrich, Palin, Huckabee, Santorum)
I agree. I can't stomach a single one of the people the GOP is offering. Whether it be Gingrich, Romney, Trump, etc...all a bunch of old losers. I'd vote for Paul Ryan in a heartbeat. He seems genuinely concerned about the budget crisis.

Can't say I agree with his policies but at least he doesn't look like a raving nutjob/jackass like most of the rest of them.

noz we must assum that fawdin fathrs wer rich wite christian men and wer gods amungst men whu belived that they shud be godified in murrka for der grate work wich we ignor everyday even though things that worked in the eighteenth century obviously won't work now.

The GOP showed their true colors (again) in the aftermath of that...
Christopher Hitchens bite the dust
considering he has esophageal cancer, that's a lot sooner than you might think
hello the point your head [editline]19th April 2011[/editline] at least he looks like Dr. Evil now
Your opinion does not make a universally accepted truth.
Me: Lawmakers Should Be Forced To Understand Their Nation's History
I bet Newt was one of those kids that lurk in the school libraries every day at lunch.
How bout we force them to teach that religion doesn't matter.
How bout we force them to teach that religion doesn't matter.
Force them to worship science and they should come to that conclusion on their own.
Your opinion does not make a universally accepted truth.
GOD FUCKING HELL ITS STUPID TO SUPPORT A CANDIDATE SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY SEEM GENUINELY CONCERNED BECAUSE ALL THAT MEANS IS THEY'RE GOOD AT EXPRESSING CONCERN it doesn't make them actually honest or smart people HOW HARD IS THIS TO UNDERSTAND DO I HAVE TO CLIMB INSIDE OF YOUR HEAD AND SUPPLEMENT YOUR FUCKING BRAIN JESUS CHRIST
If schools are forced to teach this, I am homeschooling my future children (If my seed ever enters a woman's ovaries, that is.)
