Any information on the attackers?
Nothing besides one of them claiming to be ISIS when captured.
He's very likely getting interrogated hard about every bit of info on the attacks. So we should know more eventually.
Holy fuck this is going to be the French 9/11
it already is can we stop saying this
Apparently ISIS announced on twitter that they're going to attack London, Rome and Washington next but I have a feeling it's bullshit.

This is the worst terrorist attack on French soil of all time.
What a horrible thing to come home from work to...
Swedish top-party politician Åsa Romson said on Twitter (since retracted, of course):
"These serious events in Paris will complicate the climate summit meeting where 100 heads of government have planned to attend."
Basically, distasteful politicians being extremely distasteful.
Sorry for my ignorance, but can anyone give a quick review of this? I know it's an attack on Paris, that's obvious, but are there any motives yet, death toll etc.?
Number of deaths updated to 158
I missed this entirely while I was at work, is there a good recap somewhere? Most articles seem to be from varying times during the events.
Also hope that all the Parisian FPers and their families are safe.
Beginning at 21:16, a series of violent attacks occurred in the 1st, 10th, and 11th arrondissements of Paris, France, as well as at the Stade de France in the northern Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis. At least three separate explosions and six shootings were reported around the capital, together with a hostage situation at the Bataclan theatre.
The number of casualties is unknown, but at least 140 people are reported to have died. One report stated that there might be six gunmen. It was reported by the French police that as many as two suicide bombers were also involved in the attacks.

Wait for tomorrow to get better details.
They can try. American police don't stand around when there's an active shooter. They get their asses in gear and do what needs to be done

Probably bullshit, what's the point in announcing where you're going to strike next? So that your opponent can be better prepared?

How is that distasteful? I'd probably call it a factual statement.
my brain's shut down i can't deal with this right now, i'm just going to do something else
Reports on BBC, hostages were shot one by one then a grenade was thrown at them just before the police entered.
Oh what the hell...?
Sorry for my ignorance, but can anyone give a quick review of this? I know it's an attack on Paris, that's obvious, but are there any motives yet, death toll etc.?
Essentially: Suicide bombings, followed by a group of attackers massacring concrete goers in the Bataclan Concert Hall. 140 dead total.
edit: 158 total.
Probably bullshit, what's the point in announcing where you're going to strike next? So that your opponent can be better prepared?
That's the point. Makes people absolutely crazy.
It's the same as a bully saying "I'm gonna kick your ass the next time I see you", it gets you scared and paranoid
How is that distasteful? I'd probably call it a factual statement.
It's distasteful because it shows a lack of priorities.
Probably bullshit, what's the point in announcing where you're going to strike next? So that your opponent can be better prepared?
they are terrorists, their point is to spread terror
Probably bullshit, what's the point in announcing where you're going to strike next? So that your opponent can be better prepared?
to cause terror, like you know, terrorism?
edit fuck this thread is moving too fast
I can't understand why anyone would do this, what do you have to do to your humanity to do something so unbelievably cruel and insane
I had a friend that was gonna go to that concert had he been in Paris. I'm so glad he didn't!
This shit is so terrible. I hate this.
The effects of this are going to far reaching and its going to really hit the G20 meeting really hard.
Probably bullshit, what's the point in announcing where you're going to strike next? So that your opponent can be better prepared?
To create terror. Wow that's where the word terrorism comes from.
aaaand late
to cause terror, like you know, terrorism?
But then it makes more sense to attack in a place where it's not expected, two birds with one stone.
Probably bullshit, what's the point in announcing where you're going to strike next? So that your opponent can be better prepared?
To spread terror.
Also, bait and switch. Say you strike one place, then strike another.
They can try. American police don't stand around when there's an active shooter. They get their asses in gear and do what needs to be done
So do the citizens. They might be able to detonate a few bombs and get some shots off, but there wouldn't be any long shootouts or the like in the US.
