exactly

Again, can hardly blame them. People are irrational as fuck, and when you get hit this hard. You're not going to have any qualms about throwing peace through the window most of the time.
i have family in paris and i cant get through to any of them
can anyone else reach people in paris
I hope it is. My sister is in London right now and I'm not far from DC.
I know it's bad, but I would not be surprised if they attacked London next.
I honestly think we're going to war soon.

Keep in mind that this is the third series of major terrorist attacks this year on French soil. If the Thalys shooter wasn't tackled in the train, it would have been another massive bloodbath right there.
I won't be surprised if the French are not taking this shit anymore.
Do we have any idea who is responsible yet?
There's gonna be hell to pay for this
Apparently ISIS announced on twitter that they're going to attack London, Rome and Washington next but I have a feeling it's bullshit.
Just a random thought I had... if I were a terrorist leader, and had planned a series of attacks, I would broadcast misdirection after the first one hit. So, having hit Paris, I'd announce attacks on other big capitals, and then target something completely different - a military base, perhaps.
On the other hand, if I was absolutely confident all the attacks would be successful, I would actually announce the right targets. What could be more terrifying than knowing that an attack is coming, and that you can't stop it?
And on the third hand (apparently if I were a terrorist I'd have some extra appendages), if I didn't have any further attacks planned, I would still announce some for other places, just to provoke a response and make people afraid.
So how smart and how confident do you think ISIS leaders are?

If they use FB, try this: https://www.facebook.com/safetycheck/paris_terror_attacks/

I can't see any other alternative than ground troops. What's to prevent this from happening again? Airstrikes aren't going to kill every ISIS member. Closing borders isn't 100% effective either.
With these forum posts, not sure if planned or in retaliation for the supposed missile strike on the "Jihadi John" from yesterday.
Heart is with all those affected and those stuck in the middle of the mess.
Unlikely. An attack like this requires meticulous planning, months of it at least.

EDIT: is the DC talk just rumors right now because i have people important to me there too
What do you mean?
Do you need someone to call them for you?

I doubt its organized like that. There is ISIS proper and then the ISIS inspired knock offs.
For the Tin foil hatists, it could be a false flag operation by a western government to get us to go to war. Maybe even Mosad.
Who knows?

stop
The real question is what the hell these people are trying to accomplish other then force a war
Ideals. to cleanse the land from the enemies of the only and true ideal trough fire and blood. to get rid of those who oppose and to erradicate those who pose a treat to a lifestyle composed of generations of families devoted to ideals.
poor fellas thinking war agaisnt terrorism will end by bombing the shit out of a nation are a nation's worst enemy. those are the ones that will fuel the idea that a war is the way to solve the problems and that it is the only way around. ignoring no matter how many lives you take with a war agaisnt a country, you'll never kill ideals.
ISIS aims to stirr the shit out of the world's military factions and draw them into an endless war that will only result in countless of lifes takes for the sake of keeping each side's ideals on top of the other one.
This is just unreal, all the information coming in. I apologize if someone's already asked this but what I'm wondering right now is, if this has actually been done by ISIS might France invoke Article 5 of NATO like the US did in 9/11?
I think they could, and would be fully justified in doing so.

I'm hopeful. This demonstrates crystal clearly how violence and extremism will benefit absolutely nobody. Innocent people are dying and literally nobody benefits regardless of what "side" the perpetrators are on.

Why are you surprised? I have no doubt the French people are fucking sick of this shit.
Maybe the first time it happened in a year, you might have a valid point.
The second time, well it's certainly concerning.
But the third and largest attack of the year, maybe these people of "reason" are actually wrong?

I can use internet-based chat apps and texts fine, didn't try calling anybody though.
stop
No no no, let him play terrorist leader, it's not like potentially hundreds of people are actually dying.

doesn't matter how many times it happens, of course they are wrong but you do not retaliate with the same taste or demand for blood, it solves nothing.
Clinton said in response to a question at a town hall meeting with veterans that the U.S. needs to have a better understanding of the threat posed by radical Islamic groups. She said the U.S. also needs to understand the potential costs, saying, "if you have a declaration of war you better have a budget that backs it up."

I just feel sick and mad right now.
I hope countries in general start ramping up security measures.

it would also help if we knew where to point the guns if war was started

I am not suggesting killing people...
Who said mass shootings don't happen. The French police stood around and organized while a shooting was ongoing. American police don't do that. When they arrive on scene with an active shooter popping hostages the last thing they do is stand around waiting on backup
Yeah, when you don't go in with a plan, many more people die. Take a step back and think about what you're saying.

I refuse to believe that after the fallout and impact of the wars after 9/11 that people would be so quick to demand retribution. Maybe that's just shock talking though...
Call me naive, but I really want to think that we've learned our lessons after that. Especially with the fairly recent Veterans day serving as a reminder of how costly that sort of thing is.

The last time we had a declaration of war the U.S. was in the middle of the Great Depression. I'm pretty sure budget isn't that big of a concern for the U.S. if we ever declare full fledged war again.
