The only real time the west has been on "good" terms with the middle east was when Europe was the bitch to the ottoman empire economically. I mean do you honestly think just leaving ISIS to it's own devices will really make things better than actually attempting to tackle them? Terrorists hate the West because of perceived injustices. Retaliation by ignoring human rights is exactly how this kind of dangerous radicalism begins in the first place.
