Why not party on the possibility? I have friends who will be legitimately afraid for the next hour, and I've sometimes fancied seeing the end of the world so it's more of a lark for me. The notion that something might happen is worth the intoxication, philosophical thinking, and music that will undoubtedly make up a pretty enjoyable night.
I'm just saying that even though you say you believe none of it, you actually do. You either believe it and say you're going to be smoking weed if it happens, or you don't believe it and you aren't planning to do anything special and you wouldn't even post about it. [editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
Why are you guys using 4chan as a collective term? 4chan did not do this, a few people who use the site did this. No wonder 4chan gets a 'bad' name
Because 4chan is anonymous and therefore you can't pinpoint anyone. It's everyone or no one at the same time.
Isn't there actually some weird phenomena that can create spirals in the sky, I remember a couple of years ago there was supposedly this giant spiral over Moscow and the only real explanation I saw was that it was a failed rocket launch or something.
Rocket goes up, something goes wrong, thruster on gimbal gets knocked to the side, rocket spirals. Or some kind of fuel leak.

Even though I believe none of it, the notion is still a simultaneously chilling and fun concept to entertain. Still not PUI, but halfway through the bottle and squinting at what stars I can see through the light pollution.
So, who here'll be wanking when the time comes?
May aswell wank on apocalypse day, just to put salt on the wounds fuck you Mayans, THIS is what I think of your shitty calendar
I don't see how anyone could think that HAARP could magically create earthquakes when they study the ionosphere but whatever.
Well I don't know jack-shit, I just thought of sharing.
The notion of the end of the world, the extinction of all life on Earth in a potentially horrific and painful manner, is a fun concept to entertain?
Well, trying to survive it would be something. It's not as if it would be instantaneous. So from there I have plans to make, which are each complicated and exhillerating to entertain along with every other aspect of what I've done up until this point suddenly being meaningless. There are hard questions to answer. Would I continue being moral when it's my life on the line, for instance? I've been in many life threatening situations, but never one that was juxtaposed with moral imperative. No college future, no realistic options of helping humanity or seeing it improve, no nothing. It's liberating in its intensity, and feels as if it puts the rest of my life in perspective. I get to imagine an entire life, however short or long, that will likely never happen that starts at this point in time.

Fun is something that you experience when you enjoy something. Doomsday as-is is not fun, but thinking and having a discussion with yourself about why and what-if, it could be fun. It is literally daydreaming that you are describing.

[editline]21st December 2012[/editline] .
You're completely wrong, this post was on /b/. /b/ has ID's for people, so you can tell if somebody is samefagging. And a lot of serious users use trip codes in their name. Regardless of that, if 4chan was completely anonymous (which it is not) then why would you still use a collective term? Why not say, "Well some users of 4chan did this"; instead of making it seem like the whole of 4chan did this. And in stating that some users did this does not mean you have to pinpoint them individually.

Being a writer, that's the kind of thing I call fun.

Not to sound nihilistic, but I know the end of us won't be the ending of anything that is significant on a cosmic scale. As another poster said, it'll only be sad until the last being capable of that feeling has expired.

Sounds about right. :v: [editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
We're just a species in the universe. I mean, on a cosmic scale, we are so young, so what do we know about ourselves as species, let alone how stuff works in universe.
You may now begin your unfounded gloating, the solstice has passed.

When FP did the Subway Hentai things, do you think discussions on other forums were titled, "A Few Users in Photoshop Contests on Facepunch Ruins Subway"? No. Topic titles were probably just, "Facepunch Ruins Subway." And nobody cared.

Those users that use tripcodes, they use it optionally and do not reflect how most users use 4chan or how 4chan operates. Regarding your second point, what's the difference? If users that did this, frequent 4chan and consider themselves part of 4chan, they I could freely call it 4chan. Because 4chan is the sum of it's users, not someone like moot, who talks on behalf of 4chan. Also, what above guy said.
A wormhole with flying things opened up. Need some constructive feed back. What should I do to make the worm hole look more real?

As another poster said, it'll only be sad until the last being capable of that feeling has expired.
Well yeah, no shit it doesn't matter to the rest of the universe; that's entirely irrelevant, as a lot of things don't matter in the slightest to a lot of other things. It would be, however, kind of unpleasant for those of us who would experience it.
Guys, we're all in purgatory. I just saw the grim reaper buying vegetables in Tesco

so did anyone big ever actually fall for any of this or was just just a big dumb waste of effort
so did anyone big ever actually fall for any of this or was just just a big dumb waste of effort
It wasn't a total waste, we got a bit of a laugh out of it.

I woke up and found myself in hell... I have to go to work.
To be honest this was all a bit underwhelming in comparison to what people were expecting to happen over facebook and such but then again doomsday dates are a dime a dozen in this day and age so i'm sure we'll get another shot at it
you mean "diamond dozen"?
I mean the idiom referring to an overly abundant amount
To quote Arcade Gannon from FONV: "Can't wait to see where this is going."
Did everyone else make it? It started to rain and I got worried.
