ur destroying god's creations!
It's not that bad of an opinion that it gets slightly cheesy, it might be good, but it's not great. It's not like they're criticizing Citizen Kane or an actual well made film.

Dear Vatican and Papal Offices
Okay.
Sincerely,
Everyone.
for once I agree with The Vatican, Avatar was a 2 1/2 hour long 3D Visual Effects Reel

It was a masterpiece though. That and they weren't pissed about the visual appeal, but the fact the Na'vi Characters worshiped nature rather than a zombie. I'd believe in the biological connection to nature over Christianity any day; Because at least it makes more sense.
Oh no this fictional religion is undermining OUR fictional religion
It's a movie.
Stop thinking so hard about it. Ugh.
when are religious groups going to learn that bitching about things like this that "NORMAL" people just like to see and enjoy aren't helping they're follower numbers...... then again religious groups have no one to blame but themselves for any harm that comes to they're cause :colbert:
I agree, but "normal" people are religious. Atheism/agnosticism is a minority of the population.

That depends entirely on how you define atheism.
If you define atheism as a label you check on the census then yes.
If you define atheism as a legitimate lack of belief, then maybe not. There are religious nutjobs and then there are people who are philosophically religious, who abide by the ethics and the teachings but acknowledge the stories with a great deal of realistic skepticism. MOST people are the latter. There is a difference between believing in God and being raised to believe in God. I checked my name off as Christian for two decades, but I never really was.
It isn't a masterpiece.
How it or Titanic got to where they did is a mystery to me.

Probably because they are entertaining films that appeal to the masses rather than appealing to a niche crowd that hates most everything.

Marketing/Advertising puts them out there as the best thing ever. And for the most part this is true. the movie really is visually stunning and beautiful, and in many parts immersive because you get to know and love the characters as the movie progresses.

Flashy whiz-bang explosions and a story ripped off of The Ant Bully don't make a good movie.

Tormented by a local bully and his gang, Lucas in turn attacks an anthill, flooding it with a squirt gun. This terrifies the ants, who call him Peanut the Destroyer. One ant, an eccentric wizard named Zoc, tries to fight back. His girlfriend, a nurse ant named Hova, believes in finding a more peaceful solution by attempting to communicate with Lucas. She is almost crushed by Lucas while trying to do so but is rescued by Zoc. After a devastating attack floods the hatching chambers, the leaders of the colony decide to use a potion to shrink Lucas down to size of an ant.
...
Lucas saves the lives of Hova and an injured wasp. Finally, with the help of a beetle and glowworm also rescued from the frog earlier, and the leader of the wasps, he injects Stan Beals with a potion that reduces him to infantile size. The queen then pronounces Lucas an ant. She names him Rokai, as such to be forever known by the entire colony. Zoc gives him the antidote to the shrinking potion. Once full-size, Lucas stands up to the bully and inspires other kids to do so, including members of the bully’s own gang. The bully runs away and Lucas and the other kids become friends. Lucas then showers the colony with jelly beans as a farewell gift.
This.
I'm sick of people hating something just because it's popular or because it's something to hate.

How many of you people read the full article. The Vatican isn't criticising the movie because they think it's some huge threat to Christianity -
Rev. Federico Lombardi said that while the movie reviews are just that — film criticism, not theological pronouncements
They are just legitimately reviewing and criticising the movie and comparing it to others.
Even if they are wrong :smug:
long live the universal church of rome
convert or die heathens
Are Christians still crusading against the Pagans? I thought this ended a long fucking time ago.

One of the machines would have went down and the rest would have kept rendering.
Why is it so bad they criticized the movie? I found it bad myself.
Why is it so bad they criticized the movie? I found it bad myself.
Because they're fucking catholics and I'm tired of that stupid hat.
Why am i not surprised?
Thankfully I don't care about some cranky old men in flashy robes or their opinions. :smug:

They're criticizing it for the wrong reasons.
Maybe the Vatican can shut the fuck up and stop pretending that they represent all Christians just so we wouldn't get so much fucking hate.
